I love that you’re continuing to advocate for no hard and fast rules, instead giving us terminology to describe what we see in an outfit (broad aesthetics, proportions, colour combos, style hacks, cohesion vs contrast etc…) - so we can decide what we like on our own, without the outside noise of ever-changing trends from most influencers. Thank you for being you Alyssa!

I really appreciate that you featured images of “normal” Milanese. So many Italian street style vids feature only super well off Italians in Prada, Hermes, etc. This gives a very different picture.

I liked seeing the “real” street style and it reminded me of how I dress, sometimes for comfort and the weather , often with a budget in mind and just trying to mix and match what I have and look as good as I can with what I’ve got.

Alyssa, I think one of the best points you make is the importance of being true to yourself, while also realizing that others may not always understand or appreciate our choices just as we don't always understand or appreciate theirs. Fashion can be fun and it definitely can help to define us. It also can evolve, when we do. An example... I let my son and daughter choose their own clothes starting when they were very young. From kindergarten on, my son was Mr. Ivy League. My daughter was more 'experimental'. I remember one day, when she was in high school looking at a picture of her younger self and asked me, "Why did you let me dress like that???" I told her not to worry about it, because she'd probably ask the same question about her high school look a few years down the road. The fun thing for me, as a mom, is to see that they both have definite styles that fit their still Ivy League and Experimental Personalities. LOL Thank you, Alysa for your guidance/guardrails!

I wore red Mary Jane’s with red socks to church this morning. That’s not radical in many places, but it is for our small town. Loved it. Thanks for the encouragement to be true and have fun with style!!

Alyssa, You're so right that rules and guidelines, while interesting, aren't always the answer. So many times, I've been surprised that, for example, a shoe that "should" work with a outfit isn't the one I actually like and end up wearing!

I can't really relate as it's not only summer here in Western Australia, but our winters are so mild, with no snow, only a few frosts and beautiful days sprinkled throughout the season . I have some beautiful winter coats, cashmere and wool, etc. However, now I live in such a hot climate, I never get to wear any of them. I have never been a fan of socks that show, just my preference. I absolutely agree and love your philosophy, Alyssa, of wearing what you want and to feel confident in it ❤

Love your videos on Italian style. When I was in Italy I was in awe of the beautifully dressed and impeccably groomed women on the street every day. How about a "Shop Your Closet" event with an Italian theme. Just brainstorming here, but would love to see the inside of an Italian woman's closet. What pieces does she own, how does she put them together with Italian flair. Yes I know I am describing YOU, but would like to see other examples. I remember you did a video once where you were in the shops with Italian salespeople and it was so fun and the clothes were gorgeous. Thank you!

I don't know if most people think about what they are wearing as much as you do 😂. I have recently made the conscious decision to show socks with 2 different types of pants, very specific in their colour. But I definitely don't give my whole outfit a ton of thought, sometimes I just want to be warm and comfortable 😂😂😂😂. This morning I walked to the bakery and my husband commented on how nice I looked 😊 I think that just by wearing a brighter pair of earrings it made my very casual outfit look more polished, sometimes the little details make a difference 😊.

We always laugh when we visit our friends and family in Italy, at the puffa jacket phenomenon that took over and has never disappeared 😅 However wealthier Italians, especially in the north are definitely some of the best dressed in the world when it comes to stylish winter coat wearing. Maxmara coats are legendary! I think you can find much better dressed people for winter coats than the ones you showed though, they weren't stylish or inspirational to me as a European. You should also visit, London, Paris and Copenhagen and you will see.

Like “I all have to put on today is short jeans and sneakers so I need something to close the gap between the hem and my shoes, so I have brown socks, they will work” or “I have owned the same puffer jacket for ten-twenty years, wear it every season, fashion has made a circle and it’s trendy again”. I'm Italian myself but I prefer Parisian style, Italian style is a bit too heavy and melodramatic for me, older women can look very matronly and overdone, I prefer French simple chic. Having said that, the examples you showed here were rather sloppy and unstylish. Please do not show real fur. I feed my local foxes in London and see their beautiful fluffy tails. The idea that you need two of these to make a single fur collar is unthinkable. My Italian grandma did have a fur collar, but in those days people didn't know any better. You showed a woman who was clearly wearing mink, it's really unacceptable these days, she didn't even look elegant.
