Thank you this was really helpful and fun to watch. I successfully transferred an F4 clip using a craft heat gun LOL. Sadly it was probably a waste of time because my other F4 chip was probably defective too. It was fun swapping chips even without your great tools.
Livyu I struggle sometimes to identify or find components once I found the issue. Could you make a video showing and posting links to the most commonly used components? I know in the beginning it was a struggle for me to even find a links to the data sheets for the STM32F405RGT6 f4 mcu. Man that would help many including me I think. Thank you for your teachings sir.
For me the #1 issue has been the switching regulator burning out on 2 boards. The FC powers fine from USB but nothing from VBat. I also had one case of a failing OSD after a hard crash and another case of a failing motor output which I was able to fix by remapping. Only time I've ever burnt a MCU is when I plugged in an incorrectly wired cable to a 4 in 1 ESC but that was completely my fault, and I was able to replace it and get it going again.
I have a FC with same issue -- power from USB but not batt. Got some 5v BECs on the way to fix. Nate Payne recently made a video addressing this issue.
@@LivyuFPV What do you mean? Basically the FC will work if plugged into USB and all motors work. On batt, will get motor beeps but no flight controller power on or LEDs. Not really sure how to fix this other than following what Nate Payne said. Drone Mesh had a video on same issue showing that a diode can stop sending current but I've tested mine and they seem to be fine. I'm not an electrical engineer though ;)
@@LivyuFPV fair enough. I love the work you do for the community bro. You're a true hardware hacker! If you haven't already, maybe you can demonstrate an MCU replacement on one of those bad boards. IMO it's not too hard for a novice, and there are cheap STM32Fx chips on Ebay and Ali. I did mine with a regular hot air gun...haha.
Hi, great tutorial, this content is gold for us pilot. May i know what type of alcohol did you use? Normal denaturated alcohol or isopropyl alcohol?thanks
Hello, with this magnificent video I managed to find a defect in the flight controller but I ran into another problem, I have a FC marketsys f405ctr and I need a 3.3v regulator and because of the number I can't find it...... the number I need appears on the regulator is "L314" would you have the commercial number of this regulator? Thank you in advance for the video and attention.
I had the same problem. 3.3v regulator got really hot. I replaced it and the new one got really hot. So I replaced the F4 mcu and the flight controller worked again.
I have a few emax tiny hawk aio boards that are dead between just the initial beeps and one needs some esc repair how can I send them to you for you to use on your channel?
Dam okay, I have the same thing happening with a JBF7 v2, I replaced the bad 3.3v regulator, and is outputting correct at the MCU, though I only get red light and it does not handshake with my PC just like yours did, I to have concluded bad MCU, Despite it warming up with normal temps, Is there a way to use another device like an Arduino to flash a bootloader? am I even saying this right? or a way to read from the MCU directly using another tool. to conclude it in fact is dead. as I'm not convinced lol
Do you the mobula7 FC to view, I would like to know the weak points on it. I have one that starts beeping and landing after 10-15 seconds of flight, even with new batteries... Thanks for sharing!
Well done and good examples as always. That's great how you used alcohol to find the heated components. May be a silly question but Is it safe to do so on one you plan to repair fully? I'm a novice and wasn't sure if it would short another component?
Geez... wishing I had never gotten into this hobby... it's looking more like it's a big disaster of junk... or stuff you're about to smash into the ground and turn into junk...
Hi brother you are doing a great job at repairing and teaching us alot can you make a video to fix osd when i conect my camera to FC It dosent show video only black screen with osd but works fine with my vtx with no osd i think something is burned it is small i cant trace it can you help us with that
Thx for video! Is it possible to replace betaflight mcu with a fresh part and upload firmware? This will not work with kiss, but betaflight should be possible?
Nice vid. I have iflight twing with bluetooth it took a tumble on field after clipping a branch nothing hard didnt damage quad ir props ni it will not allow vidieo feed to pass through it. Any ideas please. Just seems a shame
Hi Livyu, this is a bit unrelated to the video but I just found something interesting I'd like you to take a look at and have some words. There's a video on TH-cam that shows how to repair a "Bolt32" ESC (that's not even the right ESC). I'm not posting link for ethical reason but it's easy to find yourself. Basically, all the guy did was first supposedly test the ESC by powering up with 4 motor connected and no boot tones can be heard, then replace a single FET that was randomly chosen out of nowhere, which results in the ESC being able to initiate boot tones. Is that even possible? I'm pretty sure that's not how a failed ESC works. What's your thought on this?
Found one with a red PCB ESC... Indeed it is looking like a fake video... If you know how ESC's work you know that one bad MOSFET has nothing to do with a heating regulator or no beeps :P but hey :)
Nice effort Livyu, thanks!

Very nice! thank you. learned my last bits for today... now gonna sleep and dream of voltage regulators and mcu's.
I love your electronics diagnostic and repair video. I want more !!! :)
So much knowledge in your videos thank you

well from all the FC's I've got from you guys... from kiss to RF and BF the main fault was MCU :)

check the osd IC is properly connectect with all the pins... and check for missing parts around it (the osd IC is the I shaped, pins on 2 sides)
