I have a few questions, since i'm looking forward to buy this phone.. 1) Does this phone have 3D sweep panorama? 2) Is it upgradable to Android v 4.0 (Ice cream Sandwich)? 3) Do the newer Xperia Rays have the Flash option while taking photos? pleeeez reply...!
@iaware57 well the criteria is somewhat like all the phones with the 480x850 resolution and processor above 1 ghz will update to android 4.0. All Xperia line will get the update except for the X10 series, Samsung have not yet decided on it and HTC will get update only in their 3 or 4 top of the line models.
In englands, it is arounds £180 depending on network and about £160 unlocked. In the Americas, it's around $270 unlocks, not sures about networks though.
Got the Satio at the mo and looking to upgrade. The Camera on the Satio is 12.1 megapixels which is more than this phone. Also the Satio has a camera flash. I use it lots for ebay etc and the pictures are fantastic. Not sure about upgrading to something that seems to produce inferior photos. I'm still undecided, I've liked Sony Ericsson for a few years now and don't want to follow the crowd and get an iphone.
not yet, even though you put a 32GB Micro SD Card, you will only have 32GB or less....and if they did make the screen 3.5", I think that would lower down the ppi...correct me if I'm wrong...:)
the screen is not small, the phone is for someone who wants a small one. if you want a bigger screen u just get the xperia neo or arc. The only reason i'm considering this is because of it's size.
@Sonic6293 thanks for answer my question, the ray is so dificult to find in my country and is more expensive than the neo, but i still confused between the neo and the mini pro, im going to get one of those for christmas
if you capture 3d is also upgradeable to official 4.0.4 and flash can be automatic and always hung like you do when recording a video but for photos and also ice cream sandwich can be unlocked with the face is an excellent cell because also runs HD games that need a lot of resources and it runs smoothly
Resistive screens works with anything, but these screens often have terrible sensitivity. Capacitive on the other hand works only with heat, but these screens sensitivity are superb. If you searching for resistive type of screen good luck because there are very few left with these screens. Just check the phone specifications and there should be written nearby screen section what type of screen that phone has.
had mine for a 2 weeks now ,it's small, and typing on this is a real challenge,Google apps and access to Anroid Market is fun and easy, and this thing is loaded with great apps.Sony bravia engine makes videos look amazing, and the music sounds fantastic on this device. In just seconds you're surfing the net, checking your mail, uploading downloading just let your imagination soar !!!! Now if it wasn't so D,.. small people would take it more seriously ..Fantastic product fron Sony !!!!
Been using this phone for over a year and the size is great. Fits in the pocket and you forget its there. Sadly the phone is a bit slow and thats one of the biggest let down.
I bought this phone a month ago and I've been happy... In. fact, very happy with it except for a few disappointing things... - I can't download and enjoy a lot of applications because of the very limited memory. It's even harder to update apps 'cos it's also eating up the memory. - It doesn't instantly arrange my apps alphabetically after I close an app using the home button or key. I have to wait for about 10 secs for it to sort it right.
I'm wondering if I should get xperia pro or this one? I mean I like them both and I think they both have the same apps and stuff. So just wondering, is xperia pro better or xperia ray?
@phonearena hey. im looking for a new phone but not sure witch, i was thinking about xperia ray, xperia pro, galaxy ace, but not sure about those models, tell me what you think
hi guys, i ordered this phone online and gettin it next week from America , but i wanted to know if u can upload apps and somethn like skype or tango cz i use it alot and i didnt see any1 mentioned that u can upload more apps , thnx
@HUYI1 90% chance is that this thing WILL have a camera flash. All the websites that published this phone's specifications tell there is an LED flash accompanying the awesome camera!!!
dont go on screen size, just buy ray. If u like ace due to screen size, than buy neo V. Ray is the most high-end and powerful device in range and in perfect small size.
Who the hell would make an 8 mega pixel smartphone without a flash that works with the camera? It obviously works, or at least will work on the final version (that one is a prototype I believe).
I have textPlus on my X10 Mini and landscape texting is amazing with such small phone.. I think that Ray is also easy to text in landscape PhoneArena is to hard on Ray in that matter...
@sufy1000 It seems like someone already answered it in a rude way. This phone is somewhat like a smaller & more compact version of the Arc. And has few less things, but is cheaper and more portable because of it's size
if u calculated the volume of the xperia ray u will find: 111 x 53 x 9.4 = 55,300 mm cube and if u calculated the volume of the xperia mini u will find: 83 x 52 x 16 = 69,056 mm cube conclusion xperia ray is smaller than the mini with a larger high resolution screen n better camera n longer life battery :)
@nishdesai95 well there are chances but it all depends on whether the company releases it for a particular phone or not. The ones who have already decided are the Sony Ericsson, the whole Xperia family except for X10 ones, will get the update, Samsung will update the Nexus S and above, HTC will update EVO 3D/Thrill, LG havent really decided which phones will get the update yet. If you're going to buy it, I advise dont do it until LG releases any info about the update.
@jjuulliiaann77 I was thinking the same thing: I love the mini pro's small size and keyboard, but I also love the ray's profile. I haven't really looked into the neo though. Overall, mini pro, if you want the physical keyboard and small form factor powerhouse ray, if you want a small screened android midrange neo/neo v, for the mid tier Xperience with TV out. Note that the neo has a 8MP camera, and the neo v has a 5MP camera.
@karlsison231 neo better for bigger screen and camera flash, im looking at the same two models. ray only smaller and with satnav program. neo has hdmi capability too.
Hey guys, or anyone who is an owner of the xperia ray please tell me how i can use the tv off animation? i bought my ray a day ago and its ver 2.3.3 and when i press the power button it normally goes black but doesn't show the tv off animation, how do i activate this please help
According to someone on Amazon website, they released an update which now allows 16x zoom while video recording.
switched my live with walkman for this phone... and i LOVE it! great camera, great screen, and awesome battery life!
I have experienced no lag and the phone is still running perfectly after using it for over 6 months.
the phone i've been waiting for ! perfect size & weight! 1GHz CPU, 299dpi screen !
@Pretoriance There are two different versions. This is MEANT to be a thin tall handset, if you want a wider (fatter) phone get the xperia ark
I have a few questions, since i'm looking forward to buy this phone..

2) Is it upgradable to Android v 4.0 (Ice cream Sandwich)?

I love my Sony Ericcson Xperia Ray its never let me down soo far
In englands, it is arounds £180 depending on network and about £160 unlocked. In the Americas, it's around $270 unlocks, not sures about networks though.
@Pretoriance still smaller than most smartphones, yet reasonably powerful - the main attraction of it
Got the Satio at the mo and looking to upgrade. The Camera on the Satio is 12.1 megapixels which is more than this phone. Also the Satio has a camera flash. @Pretoriance If you prefer that then you should check out the Sony Ericsson Xperia Mini Pro

Should I buy it? I've heard it's not good in play music =.=
I need advice ... how to remove small scratches on the top and bottom of glossy black plastic on Xperia Ray? thanks
@RalphPasiorco you can buy a micro sd card, which expands your memory up to 32gb - which is a lot-
had mine for a 2 weeks now ,it's small, and typing on this is a real challenge,Google apps and access to Anroid Market is fun and easy, and this thing is loaded with great apps.Sony bravia engine makes videos look amazing, and the music sounds fantastic on this device. In just seconds you're surfing the net, checking your mail, uploading downloading just let your imagination soar !!!! wait.. so the it does not have flash? it's only for video light? I thought the camera have flash? I'm confused.
This phone is absolutely great. The only thing which might be bad is the small size but that's it.
Comparing with live-walkman sound quality, wchich is better Ray or Walkman?
Very good phone with awesome design and good camera , especially night shot
Been using this phone for over a year and the size is great. Fits in the pocket and you forget its there. Sadly the phone is a bit slow and thats one of the biggest let down.
wich is better, the neo or the ray or the mini pro?? please help me i dont know what to choose...
i love everything about Xperia ray but just one thing wut i dont like is the size of the screen is a little small :(
@frankmencias96 u saw its presentation??? its does have flash for the camera, doesn't it?
live with walkman or xperia ray? which one better? how about the price?

@phonearena hey. im looking for a new phone but not sure witch, i was thinking about xperia ray, xperia pro, galaxy ace, but not sure about those models, tell me what you think
yes it does... very smooth video call...
Officially - my next phone!!
Guys, go for Xperia Pro. Cheaper, LED flash, HDMI and 3.7" screen. After that, it's the same as the Ray. Also, Neo V doesn't has Exmor-R.
I got my Xperia Ray but doesn't play wmv, avi and flv videos....is there any other way that i can play these videos...?
go for Xperia Ray.. It runs very smooth on ICS.
01:24 see there is written ACE, indicating that ace would be a better choice
Should be a good upgrade from my Vivaz I hope
hey i heard a prob about it,that it take a lot of time to open images i.e. gallery........is it real ?????
hi guys, i ordered this phone online and gettin it next week from America , but i wanted to know if u can upload apps and somethn like skype or tango cz i use it alot and i didnt see any1 mentioned that u can upload more apps , thnx
how is it after a few months of use ?

this is the phone i m waiting from past 2months. in india too it costs less. thums up. finally me became sony follwer by this phone!!!
my best phone so far
Is this better than the Xperia Arc?
@HUYI1 90% chance is that this thing WILL have a camera flash. All the websites that published this phone's specifications tell there is an LED flash accompanying the awesome camera!!!
dont go on screen size, just buy ray. If u like ace due to screen size, than buy neo V.
Ray is the most high-end and powerful device in range and in perfect small size.
is it can do video call without any thirdparty apps??
@AliAlnaeb it has 3.3inches display size with bravia engine
@small2cats482 are there any chances for update of lg optimus black or 2x in India..
thank you
is it lag or is there any problems ? cause I'm getting it next week ;)
Who the hell would make an 8 mega pixel smartphone without a flash that works with the camera? It obviously works, or at least will work on the final version (that one is a prototype I believe).
i love it when it glows
Xperia Neo V,Xperia Ray or Xperia U?
Definitely worth a buy...its the perfect compact size with all the right features... :D
@Pretoriance Then you should have a look @ the xperia Neo which is small step up, it features a 3.7 inch screen ;)
What do you think ? 5mpx VS 8.1 mpx ?
Sony Ericsson Xperia Ray or Samsung Galaxy Wonder ?
very nice build , metal body
but release date is TOO slow !
Still waiting for the DUO....
when will it be released?
I have textPlus on my X10 Mini and landscape texting is amazing with such small phone.. I think that Ray is also easy to text in landscape PhoneArena is to hard on Ray in that matter...
is there any app to zoom while making a video?
Ray ! even neo V has big screen, pixels are more in ray, so clarity is perfect in ray n u get 8mp camera compared to 5mp of neo V !
@small2cats482 is there going to be an upgrade to android 4.0 in lg phones??
@Muzeika you should buy your favourite honestly.
@balaramsundar so does this have a camera flash or not?
which is better? xperia ray or neo? tnx
Really?
Somebody told me that it almost had no bass. Is that true?
guys pls tell me whats its price range in india . and do we get other colors in this model ?
when it will be updated to android 4.0 ice cream sendvich???
yes it would but it would also be good enough.. the ppi isn't so important (to me at least)
Hello i am stuck between this phone and the Xperia Pro...
Could anyone me decide ?
Thanks
it does have flash :P i already saw the presentation and it does have flash it actually has cool camara features i recommend it.
go for neo V. It has 3.7" but 5MP camera. Else is almost same.
which 1 should i get.arc or ray?
I can't wait for the ics update for my live with walkman! :)
@sufy1000 It seems like someone already answered it in a rude way. This phone is somewhat like a smaller & more compact version of the Arc. And has few less things, but is cheaper and more portable because of it's size
If it had a full qwerty keyboard the small touchscreen wouldn't bother me as much.
@Phenom69ll im gonna order it on a cheap Dutch web store, the price is around 240 euro.
how can i make contact groups with my xperia ray?
if u calculated the volume of the xperia ray u will find:
111 x 53 x 9.4 = 55,300 mm cube
and if u calculated the volume of the xperia mini u will find:
83 x 52 x 16 = 69,056 mm cube
conclusion xperia ray is smaller than the mini with a larger high resolution screen n better camera n longer life battery :)
Whats the size of the phone in inches?
I've got this phone, it's awesome!
This or the Galaxy Ace?
which is better ray or neo l?
pls help me some body how is the camera on this? which s bettet Ray or "U" ?

Does it have a LED flash?

neo/neo v, for the mid tier Xperience with TV out. Note that the neo has a 8MP camera, and the neo v has a 5MP camera.
@joshtbartowski86 it's an optional widget, u don't have to use it
@karlsison231 neo better for bigger screen and camera flash, im looking at the same two models. ray only smaller and with satnav program. neo has hdmi capability too.
Hey guys, or anyone who is an owner of the xperia ray please tell me how i can use the tv off animation? i bought my ray a day ago and its ver 2.3.3 and when i press the power button it normally goes black but doesn't show the tv off animation, how do i activate this please help
Ray or Mini Pro?
Which is better Sola Or RAy??'TNX
Xperia Arc, Neo, or Ray?
Live Walkman or ray? ???
Showed my friend this phone, next thing I knew he traded his iPhone 4 for this phone....a very good trade in I must say
