- Taake - Contraband Candy got the chance to talk with head man Hoest as the band came to London in which THAT gig in Essen, tour bus etiquette, hard to get movies and some surprising choices of music, all come up in conversation. Along with loads more of course, plus some EXCLUSIVE footage of Taake live at Camden Underworld, this is UNMISSABLE stuff, so watch it!

I've noticed that many black metal vocalists are quite quiet in interviews.
probably used all their "outside voice" on stage
I've noticed most "metal" people in general are that way. It's a way to express themselves which they lack in normal conversations
just answering what they need to answer
And then there is Abbath. Just beneath this interview youtube suggests the Banger tv interview.
@@JP-gu6oe Ok
That interviewer knows how to deal with black metal leaders, that's good, I see too many emo kids trying to interview these guys and suck at it. Nice interview, really interesting that's all I have to say
Now I like Taake even more.
I've talked to Hoest in the chat box on Darksoul7 Radio years ago when he was putting his demos up and working on a new album at the time. He is full on into his music and getting into the zone walking into the dark woods where he lives. He is also a humorous guy. He works very hard writing new songs whenever he has a chance. He is a cool guy and his music is killer.
I like Hoest, he's honest and true to himself all you can tell he doesn't give a shit !\m/
Annoying interviewer. You asked him if he had any views on politics, he answered you in a clear cut, black and white kind of way. No. Then you asked him again. Are you deaf? Shit like that is exactly why bands are more often than not, very irate with the press.
Ashley Nyal oh mu god she asked twice. Cri evertim. Must have been tough for him.
"Other people can do black metal however they want. Oh by the way, everyone's doing black metal wrong, it should be so-and-so."
Man the worst part about living in the U.S. is that barely any black metal bands come here... god damn I wanna see Taake live so badly.
Hoest is a total bad ass.
He's so bad ass, that he had to kiss niklas from shining
@@mauriciomarquez9314what ? 😂😂😂 not real
Love his reaction when she brings up the essen show. Also Hoest is fucking awesome got great respect for him.
I just heard Hoest speak.
That was a special moment.
He listens to Kate Bush? I love him even more than before.
dude's voice is like an asmr
I thought he was cool until he said that he doesnt like watching horror movies anymore he likes the real thing (snuff films) of real people getting murdered which are "hard to find thank god for the internet" Thats not cool dude
One of my top 3 BM bands , the music is like no other bands.
HAIL TAAKE!
I like her
Yes, this is quite much Hoest as I remember him from school 18 years ago. I don't think any of these bands or musicians are any shocking, but actually this was the closest to it. Then again I agree with him about the don't fear anything attitude. Even if I live in today's society and don't think either good or bad about it I agree with him. I don't like society no matter what way it is run. Sucks anyway how.
He didn't have that "Zlatan voice" 20 years ago.
Interesting to hear! And yeah, he probably did not scream his voice every night back then, like nowdays... :)
Wow, Hoest is nothing like I was expecting in an interview. I have a huge new respect for him.
I don't speak a fukkin werd of the Taake language but as SouthWest Arkansan I was fukkin sold soon as I heard a banjo in Myr. Taake has become one of my favorite bands
Norwegian. They are Norwegian
😂😂😂
Judging by your comment, you can hardly speak your own language either
As much as you guys wanna talk shit, these rural boys like the original poster, and myself, from bumfuck flyover midwest USA, are who Norwegians would relate most to in the USA.
damn ! he's HOT!
the interviewer is one of the hottest people I have ever seen but she needs to make some better questions tough not bad
Though it is a tad mediocre, i still liked this interview.
Höest seems like a nice guy, and so what if he likes snuff movies? There are far worse things out there.
5:01 bro rolled up on stage😭
English is Hoests' second language & he outwits CC! The man is a genius... His music, the same! His understanding & explanations are well thought out & he doesn't try to shake off or show regret for past actions, but rather apologise using justification! What a Gent... As for Noregs Vaapen; the album of 2011!!!
beautiful woman
So where is the second interview where he shows us the rest of his tattoos. I need it for science.
well that answers my 2 questions. 1: how to say Taake (i know a stupid one) and 2: whether or not he was a Nazi concerning the Essen show. im guessing from his explanation that he is not a Nazi. thats good to know :)
very cool interview :)
he's looks like that guy in deus-ex:human revolution
His English is excellent. Of course most Scandinavians speak great English. He sounds almost like he's from England
It's because the english they learn in schools is 'british' english as opposed to 'american'.
I think he is a westerner so he does not have that weird dialect people from oslo have when they speak
They speak English better than most of us.
He was getting pretty annoyed with the interviewer in the start.
The black metal Norwegians don't like any unnecessary silliness, I learned that real quick. They tolerate it but they dont like it. That being said, I'm a better person for it. If you don't have an extensive knowledge of music like they do then it's a waste of time, their's and your's.
Venom and Bathory while they indeed played a part in the conception of norwegian black metal are not what i think the idea of "true norwegian black metal" is based upon. That is what Hoest speaks of in this interview. Its just understood. And i dont give a shit where it came from or who started what. And Hoest is not close-minded but in fact has experienced and made judgments based on his life in this terrible world.
the guy is so cool, so calm, never thought of him that way. what the song playing at 2:00?
Voldtek
Hoest was very patient and accommodating in this interview.
René is awesome...
@Wasteddeath if he gains influence from every genre, the only outcome is for him to become a musical genius, which he has already accomplished years ago.
he had a swastyka on a gig, or something, and in germany, where it is a forbiden symbol
Had the chance to speak to him last night after the show they gave!
Great guy he is!
It's nice to see how calm he is in the interview and then on stage he becomes extreme
Such an awesome Guy Hail Taake
You can not deny Taake has some rightwing tendencies these days.
"They have moved away from original Black Metal"
Shortly after *BANJO SOLO*
:)
Damn, Hoest is so... don't know he got no energy.
Name of the beginning song?
Umenneske
Saw him at HITS this year, he's lost tons of weight and looks kind of ill. I think it's the coke.
Very good interview, not for the questions but for Hoest´s attitude, nice when he explains the Bergen´s heraldic tatoo,i didnt know about it.
Yeah dudes, the real essence is inside our hearts, not in the long hair, tshirts, trues or cult or metal collections, fuckoff if you are a poser, time will say it...
All hails Black Death Metal of Death forever!
Guy knows what he’s about, nice guy, no fucks given. I hope I find my niche like this guy has
5:50
Because it has been used entirely ignorant of its meaning.
His english is quite good
what song is that at the very begining?
ROKY ERICKSON
@ dt8118..he is always calm,and silent..i've been into Taake's show,in Marseille,last Saturday,and i went to a small restaurant,with the band members,and beleive-me,he didn't say a single word....
I believe that.
German bands should sing in German, English bands should sing in English, Swedish bands should sing in Swedish and Norwegian bands should sing in Norwegian.
Yeah, it can certainly add a lot of culture to it. Part how I got into bands like Pergalē and Negură Bunget, De Lirium’s Order etc…
bullshit
Bands should sing in whatever language they want to.
***** Wow, that's interesting. Didn't know your language was that broad. :)
***** I've heard a few songs by them, one being “Calea Rotilor De Foc.”
However, i think it's a really beautiful-sounding language that alongside e.g. Polish really dresses the Metal atmosphere.
Hoest (the singer) had a swastika painted on his body while playing a gig in Essen (Germany), and threw bottles at the audience
of course they got banned from the festival
I throw knives at walls.
Hail Hoest 🤘🏼🤘🏼😈😈
He speaks english very well.
ROCKY ERICKSON!
Thanx mate!
COCTEAU TWINS
whats the name of the song at 3:30
Umenneske
Yea pretty funny you know, normaly you have this image of musicians like 'wooh they're fucking awesome and shit' and we were just walking there (not during montley but at this random time) to get some shadow. And a friend of mine (who was also wearing a taake shirt) just walked by him. Im like.. dude you just missed hoest over there. And he kept saying 'no fucking way, your shitting me!' but if you check out the taake live video on gmm on youtube you see him walking there!
great personallity

Hordaland, hordaland, hordaland
Beeeeeeergeeeeen
What a cool dude.
Awsome!!!!!!
3:05 - 3:15 SPIRIT OF METAL
she has a cute smile lol
@Chewzluvsbooze Burzum, Troll, Darkthrone, Enslaved, Gorgoroth, Helvetespine, Kampfar, Ulver? Where have you been?
SolKatjacornelia: Why? Cant people wear whatever the fuck the want to wear? Or do we all have to wear Armani-clothes and follow the latest fashion?
i love me some WASP.
5:00 Song ??
Umenneske
worblfloss your are right. i am not a nsbm fan but black metal is music made from white man for wihte man. norsk arys black metal!
@rigstula What would you want her to ask in her hoarse sexy metal voice? Why Taake is? What would be interesting? How come you became to play black metal? Easy. Darkthrone, Carpathian Forest, Mayhem, Burzum, of course. Though my favourite album of Twisted Sister is of course the first one. I can specify the song too, Destroyer!
Ok i understand, but you must remember here that he has one hell of a hangover. (I talked with him about the interview when he came home to Bergen after the gig..we know eachother u see) And you can imagine what that is like with filming and the light :) Not a good combination.
Sorry for my harsh comment.
It was not the meaning to yell at you :D
what the song at intro and at 2:00 ??
First one is "umenneske" and the second one is "Voldtek".
Dimmu was only good for the first 2 albums, Stormblast and For All Tid, enslaved and satyricon suck. Opeth is possibly the best band ever
This band make me proud to be European
why? It's not you doing the art, it's Taake! be proud of what you achieve yourself ... But if you just want to say how lovely their music is: i'm with you 😊
"TAWK-EH"...?? Ive been pronouncing it "TAKE" this entire time...😧
Its "TOKE" . means "fog" in norwgian
It's Tåke :)
If there was a sad react I would use it
It’s actually pronounced “TA-A-KEY” 🙂
@@bostontowny4life744 there's no Y in there. The Å is closest pronounced like the "au" in taught and the "ke" like the first letters in canyon! tåKE
I saw him later on at the beer stand of jupiler in the 24 hour zone! Did not spoke to him because i was not entirely sure it was him. Later on i heard it was definitely him! Taake had a really good gig there!
Fuck \../
Why everybody censure the Interviewer?? Sorry, I don't speak english and I don't understand.....
The comment was to "alkalex". The song is "Umenneske" from the latest album, just called Taake.
The song "Umenneske" has been edited here on youtube, so you will have to listen to the album ;)
No, this is "Umenneske" (last part of the song.) Its not here on "youtube-umenneske", theres just part of the song, not the end. But you`ll find it on the full album, just called Taake (the latest one from 2009)
bathory and venom are good and very important things. but i talk about the norwegian szene which came up in the early 90's
whats the song in the background called?
What in the fuck? Not at all, look 'em up, they rule. Lead singer is a female. Garlands = Great fucking album
@telathys seems like Norwegians tend to speak better english than most, better than a lot of people in the US
What's the intro song?
Umenneske
Sing in Norwegian!? what fucking old school black metal bands did he listen to.
@ProcreationEpidemic yes that's one of the best and objective expressions about this theme i ever heard
Where was the question about the show where Hoest had his kvlt und bluts hanging outside of his pants while on stage?
(NSFW photo evidence: ruthlessreviewsdotcom/pics5/bm2/bm1.jpg)
lol, looked at the date on the video. it probably would've been handier to go to Dublin....
Metaldays, Tolmin, can't wait :)))))
Bruh, when did Hoest shave his dome?
He said that they have not time to go to the clubs :|
wtf r u listening to? :|
@ sathanas222
Better than a lot in the US.? That sounds crazy. However. We start early learning English here. Everything English in TV or in the cinemas are with subtitiles. Never dubbed. Besides if you don't speak good English you might be viewed upon as maybe not so smart. It is quite much the same in Sweden and Denmark as well, but they have different accents which are easy to hear.
Something to learn for the Spaniards and the Italians?
About fucking time someone interviewed Hoest!
If I get my webzine back up, I would try. However, music is so personal that I don't really believe that it can soley be interpreted by words. It's music, therefore listen and then draw your own conclusions.
@@annf4027 bro i posted about this 12 fucking years ago
I some times get some comments about my taake shit when I wear it and I would like to show everyone hoest's statements
Black metal is not PC and that's everything I think
Provokation and doing the worst that some people could think of
And snuff.. It is. Quiet easy to get if you know the right sources
@McGregor2012 Agreed, I would fucking ruin that, respectfully of course.
Amazing voice!
@OldGreyBeard100 FUCKING RIGHT MAN! UGH!
