@@BrysComics always and ty. I've accumulated 8 short boxes in a little over a year and slowly figuring out what I want my collection to be. I really appreciate your videos. The hobby is so much better with people you can trust
Thanks for sharing that story. I understand completely what Tom's talking about with it being a lonely hobby. Similar boat for me and never really had someone personally in my life who can fully appreciate the time, effort, emotion, and impact comics have had. I feel like they shaped me growing up, to some extent, and helped build my sense of justice and fairness.
The X-Men #50 is gorgeous! There was a little pang of sadness letting that one go. And the X-Men #14 was a raw back issue purchase (circa 1982) for $11, haha. And there's a Godzilla full run in there, ALL 9.8, ALL WP! (I still have my OGP raw set bought with my grubby little hands before I started taking better care of my books.) Thanks, Bry --- it was an honor.
Great story. Back in the 70's and 80's most collectors were just putting comics in plastic bags. Boards came a lot later. I know my friends and I would put multiple books in one bag to keep the stiffness and it was also a way not to spend too much on plastic bags. Some of the bags I bought in the 80's were good for 20-25 years.
Another fun video Bry. Some great books in that collection from a true collector. Collector’s Reality…Tom: “Look honey a GSX 1!” Tom’s wife: “Uh huh, that’s nice dear.”😂 Keep grinding bro!✌️
I’m in my late 50’s. I also had a similar journey. The majority of my collection was purchased at cover price. Over the years, I sold/donated most of my collection. I still have about 500 books left. A few years ago, I discovered grading. I am starting to send a few of my favorites including pristine condition ASM 252, 300, 301, 316, Incredible Hulk 340, etc. I’m hoping to get 9.8 or higher as I was obsessed with condition.
@@BrysComics Thanks, Bry! Same with Xmen 266 and NM 26. During a beer run in college grabbed two copies of NM 98 and a couple of twelve packs and a six pack. Those came back 9.6/9.0. I had to pee real bad waiting in line at 11:59 pm! Lol
These collectors remind me of a time long over. I was about 5 years ahead of this gentleman, but I failed to keep my collection intact. I aged and moved on ... boy, that was a mistake.
Seems like you are slowly becoming the go to guy for selling premium collections to. Aside from competitive pricing, I am sure you come across as respecting these books more than others.
It's crazy how the 1st Hobgoblin clearly has a upper-left corner ding and it got a 9.8. But the Walking Dead book is clearly a 9.8 with probably the slightest non-color-breaking corner I have ever seen. CGC is all over the place.
So is this how CGC typically handles comics that are signed on the interior? Making it a note on the label? I have an American Splendor signed by Harvey Pekar on the first page and always wondered how CGC would handle it.
I know right?? I have the 1st print dark knight series 1-4 all signed inside the front cover. I’ve owned them since 1989 and I’m hesitant to send them in cuz then who would know.
Wow, I wish I had the money you have to spend on Comic Books. I’m not in the restaurant business anymore. I can’t do that.. I would really like amazing Spider-Man 14 9.6 but the last one sold for $50,000 on Comic Link the fair market value Go Collect is only $35,000. Anyway, this is a great time to pick up Hulk 181 9.6 because you can get that for under $20,000 that was a $30,000 comic book. Anyway, congratulations on your pick ups.
I guess I am the only one confused as to why the price is so low? 64K. Over all of those books. I get the Dealer excuse - “I’m holding these book - they could take a long time to move” etc., but with super high quality collections that doesn’t apply the same way. It just doesn’t. In the end - the owner wanted this price - and if he is happy awesome. For those watching. Stop buying comics from Dealers - and buy collections - you will spend the same amount given enough time. The fractional cost versus FMV is ridiculous.
We forgot to include the clip where I talk about pricing! I will tack it on to the next video if you’re interested…

Please do include the pricing information. It’s fascinating how you come up with your valuations.
Please do!

X-men 112 is one of the most beautiful X-men covers of all time
It was awesome hearing Tom’s story/stories about his comic collecting journey

I love hearing the stories about collecting. I wish everyone cared about books as much!
These are excellent stories that make the books even cooler!
I bought a couple of those off the rack too. Miss those days of being in a random grocery store and seeing a spinner rack loaded with joy.
Wow! Another great video man! Excellent grails! Thanks for sharing! Keep them coming!
Great collection, Thanks Bry!

You offer a great service for the community Bry. I appreciate what you do.
Another awesome collection! Thank you for sharing. ✨💯🔥
This is one of the best TH-cam channels on comics IMO. You're doing the Lord's work. Keep it up.
Its so awesome seeing two people who really care about this hobby
That's really cool that you get to have these collections come across your store. I'd love to be able to buy some of these.
You always do right by comic sellers, that's an indicator to your success.
Great collection! I wish my 70’s comics were in this good shape - mine were read so many times….

Always great hearing from collectors about their love of the hobby
I Love This Content. Very Interesting Stuff. I’m Just Now Getting Into Comic Collecting Or At Least Serious Collecting
Amazing collection. Thanks for sharing.
Killer video Bry.. thanks.
Pretty cool that he bought some of the books of the shelf when they came out.
Love hearing the stories!
Great collection sir

Cool to hear about the comics and where they come from.

Such a great story and collection!
😢Brys with another 🔥 comic collection haul 💯
I bought two copies of asm 252 at 7-11 that I had graded five years ago that got 9.8 both newsstand. Still have them. 😊

Nice collection Bry!
great collection
Really cool collection
Bry I did the same thing put it in a book then read it once bag and board it.
👏
Damn that Ultimate Spidey 1 signed by Stan is calling my name
Wow what a collection!

Drooling over here
I still have the ASM 238 I bought when I was a kid, too, when it was first published. Mine is newsstand, not slabbed.
I wonder what was the one slab he kept?
killing it, bro
Wow another awesome buy!
Woo Hoo - nice books there Bry
Amazing collection
Wow an amazing journey of comic collecting.

I wished I was like him and took care of my bronze age comics a lot more better.
Wow wow wow!!! ❤
I have so many in my cart now

You can’t accurately grade through a video AND a case…the 238 is a solid 9.8 and the TWD would never get a 9.8 in the current state
Keep one for your retirement PC.
Awesome video!

In the future we’ll be saying “I bought that for cover price” for like 7.99. Definitely doesn’t have the same charm lol
Whats with the plastic on the comic books? like a damage proof case? do you or can you open them to read n enjoy them?

He sounds just like me, although, unfortunately, I wasn't quite as condition-conscious when I was 12 years old!
Which price guide website do you suggest, specifically for raw books?
Cool books with a great story
I want that ASM!

Cant imagine spending your whole life collecting something, then you have to sell it.
Do you know Gem Mint. He had to liquidate to try to save his house. These last few years have been a little tough to get by.
😊
I'll give you $1 for one book from this collection. You pick.
Awesome collection
