I feel like the red carpet is a way of promoting household and indigenous fashion designers, stylists, makeup artists. Everything fashion basically. As you promote your music industry all these things are also needed to make the industry grow. The industry is not just music. Its fashion and arts that are also translated in music videos and movies. It suppose to be a whole showbiz package.
Its just to find creative ways to make the red carpet pop. Its not over-rated trust me if its properly harnessed.
I still think dey should think outside the box and try wear something that can really impress the public and bring more costumers to the brand. Because, honestly, the dresses they’ve been wearing, my aunty can sew some pɛpɛpɛ😂 Armani, D&G and the rest have normal dresses, but in occasions like this they’ll make some extravagant dresses to catch the spotlight and the attention of the masses

The red carpet event is meant to simulate and grow the Ghanaian creative industry (specially, fashion). For a country with so many struggling creatives, this event cannot be scraped unless we wish to say goodbye to the whole industry.
The Gospel artist has mastered live band performance in the church every sunday and rehearse with twice or once a week so it make choristers conversant with live band🥰

I agree with you Sheldon on the gospel artists being better live band performers than their counterpart. Recording in the studio is so different to singing live where u aren’t aided by a lot of the studio effects and thereby exposing the weaknesses of artists who’ve not yet mastered the craft. But kudos to all. It’s not as easy as people think it is. ❤️
What if VGMA collaborated with 3 Music awards to bundle forces, step up the organization and have a grand well-organzied award scheme? 🤔

But Sheldon I disagree with you on black sheriff’s issue in terms of him playing live band. His performance on the 3 music awards was done with the live band but I think the problem is the production and organization of the VGMA’s were poor compared to 3 music awards. Even with the 3 music awards, they had technical challenges with respect to sound but his performance still managed to be one of the best we’ve seen recently. That show 3 music got their stuff right.
The gospel artist perform at church everyday with live band. So its easy for them to perfect the art. Also, Ghanaian fall in place easily for gospel music.

But see the issue is not even about the band
Most of these secular musicians lacks basic requirement of a musician which is their voice and being able to hit basic notes. They hit the studio sing whatever they want to sing and allow pitch correction to do the work for them. They release the song, make one or two noise about it and that is it they are big. But they lack the basic things as musicians.
In the gospel world, to be accepted you need a good voice, have some techniques b4 the industry stuffs even comes in.
How can a commercial musicians tell me they can't stay in their key. Even when they are performing with the original song, you hear them still singing off key. The funny thing is most of them see their self to be talented than the gospel musicians. lol

The gospel musicians performed better simply because the band that played with them were different and those guys are good, they were the same carpet band for 3 music awards so I think the carpet band for the just ended Vgma must be replaced the next time. If possible they should use the guys that played for 3 music awards, the guys are extremely good. Thank you.

I agree with u on the putuu but i think the live band didnt do well om playing putuu, i belive if the drummer shuld change his style of playing the putuu they gonna get it right, the way the drummer played it on the night didnt go well, they need to re-orchestrate the putuu live band version again starting from the drummer especially his kicks

I didn't watch the VGMA live but going through some videos on TH-cam, for me the live performances for about 95% of the secular musicians went wrong. Akwaboah is a highlife man but I didn't feel his performance koraa. These secular musicians should know that not only their voices but their songs win most people through their beat. The songs are carried by the beat so if that is out then the people are not moved. They wanna change their style to move people but they should change the style of the music to be better than the original song but not poorer.
