PFHA, its full name is the Promotion of Family Health Association and people likely called PIFA and Lao name Samakhom Songserm Soukhaphap Khopkhau, abbreviation is SorSorSorKhor is a Non-Profit Association(NPAs), established on 28 July 2012 under the approval of the Ministry of Home Affair with the main goal.
To mobilize resources and contribute to the national development goals or Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and PFHA got the approval to be able to work the whole country
The PFHA office currently situates in House no 449, unity 36, Phonekheng village, Saysetha district and Vientiane Capital
PFHA has its vision as A healthy and happy society, contributing towards bringing Lao PDR out of least developed nation status
And PFHA has its mission as PFHA is the leading family health association striving to provide all people with innovative and up-to-date RH information and quality services by empowering individuals through raising awareness of RH knowledge, information and services and improving quality of RH care and services for its beneficiaries in collaboration with Government authorities, relevant stakeholders, Development Partners, Private Sectors and Civil Society Organizations
PFHA adheres the core value as Volunteerism, Network, Teamwork, Respect, Trust, Integrity, Transparency, and Professionalism
Under the 6 year strategy, PFHA has 4 strategic outcomes
Strategic Outcome 1 One million SRHR services
Strategic Outcome 2- Sound internal system
Strategic Outcome 3- High competency
Strategic Outcome 4- Double Income
In term of governance, PFHA has the Assembly General Meeting which consists of all members as the highest level, the next level is the Board of Director and finally the Executive Director and all employees. Moreover, there are advisory groups beside the governing board.
PFHA has currently expanded its branch to Bokeo province, called PFHA Bokeo Branch. This is to promote and strengthen the local people in developing their own hometown which no one knows their home as much as they do.
PFHA works based on the internal constitution which has been approved by MOHA and there are several internal policies and procedures such as financial, procurement, human resource and administrative policy and procedure for instance
PFHA focuses on Sexual Reproductive Health and Right (SRHR). There are 9 components e.g. Mother and Child Health, Adolescent/Youth Health, HIV/AIDS/STI prevention, Family Planning, Nutrition, Gender Equality/SGBV, Safe Abortion, Cervical Cancer, and Menopause/Aging for instance.
PFHA contributes to the Sustainable Development Goals #2, #3, #5 and # 17 as key areas
These days, PFHA has the target location working with partners both Non Profit Association and International Non-Governmental Organization covers from the north to the south of Laos
Up until now, PFHA has many projects e.g. Safe Motherhood Project, My Future and My Body Project, Community Based Drugs and Alcohol Control, RESPOND project, Reducing Early Child Marriage Project in the remote area of Laos, the project of COVID 19 Prevention in the risk area, and so on
In term of partners and donors, there are many parties, government Partners include the Ministry of Health(MOH), Lao Women’s Union(LWU), Lao Youth Union(LYU), and regarding the International Organizations and Donors include International Planned Parenthood Federation(IPPF), Plan International Laos, CARE International Laos, IOGT for instance, regarding UN includes UNFPA, for instance as well as NPAs as seen
Not only that, PFHA also networks with the national, regional and global level. PFHA applies a member of International Planned Parenthood Federation(IPPF), SUN CSA Laos, LCCC, and other working groups.
In the year 2017, PFHA has the internal consultation and initiated developing its marking strategy to find the way to generate organizational income in order to back up the association if one day, government of Laos announces Laos is out of LDC and there are no donors.
In addition, PFHA also works on humanitarian. PFHA mobilizes resources such as cash and things to assist the victims, disadvantaged group of people and poor people in the countryside as well as schools e.g. flooding, cold season for instance.
