So I moved over to Fable and it’s very easy to import your GR I promise! That app isn’t perfect either but it’s so much more fun than GR. I also need to sort out my tracking and my rating because I’m the same as you - a 5 for a fantasy is not the same as a 5 for a romance book. Love your videos as always xx
Absolute YES to the book club - would LOVE this! Second, I also track my books 4 different ways! I agree with the Goodreads update situation but I love that we can share with friends and also track our TBR. I would say thats a keep for me because of that! I don't use notion though and love that idea - could you possibly share your template?! You're the best Luce! Love falling you here and TikTok and wish we could be besties! :)
That’s such a good idea about sharing the template, I might do a specific video and share it all on there. Notion is honestly SO good. Thanks lovely for all your support, big big love for you angel 🤍
Love hearing you talk about your perspective on reading and the social component of it! I feel like you’re so grounded and I’ve been looking for more creators like this 🥰 love your channel!
Assassin's Apprentice, Shadow of the Gods and Jade City are fantastic picks if you're unsure about your high fantasy preferences! They're nothing like Tress (but tbf Tress itself was something different that Sanderson tried, so I wouldn't write him off completely yet) Assassin's Apprentice is more slow paced with its main focus on character over plot. Robin Hobb draws you in, makes you feel, and then destroys you emotionally. Shadow is as you can probably tell viking inspired. Unlike Assassin's Apprentice it has a ton of action and is also extremely detailed about it. It's not as fast paced as Red Rising though. Jade City is japanese inspired and the only thing ''fantasy'' about it is some slight superpowers. I would put it somewhere in between Robin Hobb and John Gwynne's stuff. Good characters with a crime family setting. Not that much action but when it happens it's impactful. I often recommend The Expanse if you haven't read much scifi. It's recent so it's modern, and focuses just as much on the characters as scientific ideas. It's a good place to start and will let you know if you would prefer more or less focus on science fiction elements. FYI there are 9 books so if you end up liking it I apologise for getting you hooked on a massive series hah!
Okay wow. This was exactly the kind of advice I've been needing, thank you! Robin Hobb sounds like the kind of author I'm going to love, books that make you feel are the best but also a sucker for action packed style fantasy reads that feature in Shadow. Just had a look at The Expanse and it sounds amazing. Will have to check this out next year, thanks for the recs and advice!
I remember being disappointed in Tress (I did give it a 3.5 stars though) because it wasn’t what I expected till I heard that it’s actually a cosy fantasy that he wrote for his wife. In 2025, my goal is to read his actual epic fantasy books/series then one day going back to Tress for the easter eggs I missed.
Fable directly syncs your info from Goodreads so it was an easy peasy transition! however, one thing I have noticed is Fable doesn't track rereads for some reason, I think those may have to be done manually? not sure, but overall importing the info from Goodreads was under just a click!
I love this I love reading i just haven't found time to read as much as I'd like.. I can honestly say listening to books that you loved reading as an audio book can make you fall in love all over again with the books. I love fantasy. / romance as well as crime thriller books. If I could read 1 book a week next year I will be happy. I love the idea of tracking what I have read so update if you change how you track. Love the book club idea... but i dont have any social media other than youtube 💖
reading is such a wonderful way to switch off and escape to another world. such a good idea about listening to previous fave reads on audio, will definitely have to try that! thank you so much - i'm thinking of starting the book club on fable shortly and i'll post a link to it on youtube incase you want to join. really appreciate your support 💜
Love your videos 🖤 I also DNF’d Tress, don’t really know why but it just didn’t hit 🙁 have heard great things about Jade City and have it on my TBR for 2025 😀 happy reading 📚🖤
Also had the thought of how you could rate the different styles of books you read Romance you could use use hearts ❤💖 fantasy you could use some sort of magical creatures like 🧚♀️🧜♀️🦄 self help books maybe something like lightbulbs 💡im sure someone will come up with good ideas
I ditched Goodreads for Fable earlier this year and haven’t looked back. The rating system alone was the selling point. You can more accurately rate books because they have quarter of a star ratings! It is leagues better than Goodreads imo. I trust the book ratings more also because of the rating system. Books on Goodreads are clearly overrated because of the whole star system.

Also so many of our goals are the same ❤ I’m going to be all about the re-reads next year too!
Thanks angel 🫶🏼 you’re so right, I love the whole layout and how everything is displayed. SO much better ❤

You can do this now- they added it recently 😊

I think you can sink your goodreads info to fable, I think 🤔
Thanks for this, I’ve done that and it seems so easy to do/use. The whole app is really nice actually 😍
