And also for longest time India was not progressing as a country in general, which was obvious it regressed during the colonization by Britain. So there's this general feeling with I would say up till the generation before the current one. They have to constantly play catch up from what they lost for so long, whatever leaps forward they missed out on due to what the British did. They latched on to what to them seemed cool or modern.

Khans actually spoilt the bollywood way of making movies.. Bollywood was the best industry when the likes of Anil Kapoor, Jackie Shroff, ajay Akshay , Shetty etc were doing action films. Baap koi nahin hota. . Both bollywood and telugu film industries stated in 1931 and 1932 respectively. So not much seniority in film making . The advent of the social media platforms like TH-cam created connect between north and south audiences. Now the south indian industry shown us what kind of sensation they can create when they have wider range audience . Bollywood will have to follow them .
You find very few hindi films make profit and that's truth and all hindi filmmakers have to accept the fact.But as they call south industry make film in a very tight budget with high professionalism hence they rarely loose money. ULTIMATELY BUSINESS IS BUSINESS WHETHER ITS SOUTH YA NORTH.
Honestly, more than that. Its about substance, south indian for the longest time have always had substance. Some of the biggest Bollywood films have been copied from south indian films and the list is frankly quite large. It doesnt make sense to say that south indian films werent popular because it did not gain attention in north india. That statement remains false even so, how can you copy films from the south for years and say that its not been popular. Its just that bollywood has started to appreciate south indian films as is instead of trying to copy them.
Fact: As of my opinion everyone should watch kanganas speech regarding same so u will get to know the true sense. Even Shetty also told same thing but he missed real content.
We are Indians everyone watching their required movies, so we will enjoy the movies don't compare any movies & under estimate them even celebrities they work hard for years.
If you observe, more money making & blockbuster south movies are super-machoistic in nature for the male lead. He's given the attributes of real alpha male. Say Pushpa, KGF 1&2, Bahubali 1&2, most of the original telugu movies & of course Rajinikanth movies. Real audience including both men & women want movies that portray real human traits without any stereotypes breaked. These above mentioned movies aren't "woke" either. Bollywood is busy breaking stereotypes & making woke films that find it unbearable for majority of indian audience. Also the intense assimilation of western culture in bollywood has gained a ban in traditional indian families & conservative movie buffs. Movies are well received by mass when it is curated for mass feelings (hero or male lead stardom, good action, no stereotypes broken, subtle romance, revenge-oriented, peppy & theme songs, less obscene content as it attracts families, no misandrism). Bollywood had huge fan base during the time of Hum Apke Hain Kon as movie were more commercial applying to all.

Bollywood directors and actors and actresses needs to stay grounded make more movies with better representation being south indian there was time when used to watch more bollywood movies not anymore its been years Hollywood is my first choice for entertainment since childhood Hollywood is fascinated me when it comes to story, screenplay, narration, cinematography,paying attention to detail just awesome. Bollywood is failing because of useless party,item songs with sometimes extra masala.

Whether they say it or not it's it just feels like they are too insecure to wholeheartedly embrace the good and bad that makes up india, and that's the same with every country. It's just that India in general has such drastic difference in culture and sensibilities and values compared to the West. And I think for the longest time Bollywood for better for worse had the most money and was seen internationally as the face of Indian Cinema. So they they feel like hesitant about making films about the common man / the everyday idiosyncrasies and sensibilities that the everyday person or average Indian deals with.. the longest time I think Bollywood thought it was the only industry with the enough resources to make films that can be seen on the international level. Plus there's the general insecurity of putting front right front and center, the beliefs and sensibilities that are specific to India itself. They just too afraid of being made fun of or thought of as archaic or just straight feeling weirded out by it. They don't want to become the source of ridicule. And also for longest time India was not progressing as a country in general, which was obvious it regressed during the colonization by Britain. So there's this general feeling with I would say up till the generation before the current one. They have to constantly play catch up from what they lost for so long, whatever leaps forward they missed out on due to what the British did. They latched on to what to them seemed cool or modern.

Honestly, more than that. Its about substance, south indian for the longest time have always had substance. Some of the biggest Bollywood films have been copied from south indian films and the list is frankly quite large. It doesnt make sense to say that south indian films werent popular because it did not gain attention in north india. If you observe, more money making & blockbuster south movies are super-machoistic in nature for the male lead. He's given the attributes of real alpha male. Say Pushpa, KGF 1&2, Bahubali 1&2, most of the original telugu movies & of course Rajinikanth movies. Real audience including both men & women want movies that portray real human traits without any stereotypes breaked. These above mentioned movies aren't "woke" either.
Bollywood is busy breaking stereotypes & making woke films that find it unbearable for majority of indian audience. Also the intense assimilation of western culture in bollywood has gained a ban in traditional indian families & conservative movie buffs.
