how would I find a salon to apprentice in? and does it only cover hair or does this license allow you do be certified in all areas like beauty school would?
You could contact the local company that handles trade apprenticeships. They should have a list of participating salons. Or join a Facebook group of your local salons and ask around for references. You would be learning the same skills as in beauty school. Good luck 😊
After learning there’s no esthetician programs around me to work with my schedule I came across apprenticeship. Is there any requirements before becoming an esthetician/cosmetologist apprentice or is it something you just jump right in to with no experience? I’m a little confused with that part.🤔 Thanks!
We've never charged anything to our apprentices. I've always thought it was a win/win. We paid minimum wage, they assist our busy salon and we have weekly/daily scheduled education classes...however, I have heard of salon's charging for their apprenticeship program. It does take responsibility and time for the salon to educate and provide guidance, so they may feel they need to be paid in exchange for that. Do you feel like it is worth $7,500? That's about 1/3 of what most schools are charging lately...It would depend on the salon's program they are offering. If it is well organized with weekly ongoing education, then it could be worth it to you...but, if you're just sweeping hair and shampooing, I'd say no. Good luck on your journey! This is an incredible industry with a ton of opportunity...😍
Hey there...I could do a video, however it's pretty easy to search online for practice written exams...my stylists used to do that. Try this site...it might help: www.mometrix.com/academy/cosmetology-practice-test/
Hello, how much does cost to apprentice at a salon?
It shouldn’t cost you anything. Maybe application fee and textbooks. It’s different in every city.

Apprenticeship is great, because you don’t need any experience and you learn on the job. Good luck with your career. 😊
