    This is just what I have been looking for. I love the effect. It looks just like a water color. I didn't think it would look that good when I first saw your subject but it looks fantastic. Thanks for posting this video. I can't wait to try it on some of my images.

    For Windows. At 9:37 When you press and hold the ALT key,
    you must also LEFT CLICK and hold the mouse button down. Point mouse at LAYERS
    menu (while holding down left mouse button) and then point at MERGE VISIBLE and
    release the LEFT MOUSE button while mouse is pointed at MERGE VISIBLE. This
    merges a copy of all the layers and leaves the layers you are merging intact.

    Nice presentation! I am using Photoshop Elements 13, does your process work in this version. I followed you up to selecting the brush. Could not find the same brush. And no brush i used worked as your process did.

      @davro06  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi jtsancomb, pleased you enjoyed the video. I've checked and the 39px Dry Brush is in Elements 15 which is the Mac version and in Elements 20 PC. Make sure that the Brush Panel is set to "Default Brushes" and it's almost at the bottom of the Panel. Hope this helps

      Good point Animes Fandubs Y Demás cosas, you should treat tutorials like a recipe and take out one item and add another or just vary the amounts. As I say it's all about experimenting and seeing what works for your images. :)

    Nice and useful tutorial! May I know how to darken the colors when painting in the 'Fx Paint' layer? I've tried by increasing the brush opacity, but it doesnt really works well. Thank you and hope to have an answer from you.

    • @davro06
      @davro06  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Loh Weng Thong good to hear you enjoyed the video. To darken the colours, once you've finished the paint fx try putting a Levels Adjustment Layer on the top of the the layers stack. Move the Black slider in until it mets the start of the histogram. Now move the centre slider to the Right, this will darken the image. Hope this helps

    Hi there, This is a super helpful tutorial, however with the first sketch effect layer, smart blur, my "control I" command doesn't seem to work and it remains as black with white lines, not white with black lines. Anyone else having this issue? Would love some help on this, thanks so much!

    • @davro06
      @davro06  9 ปีที่แล้ว

      Heather Grattan Hi I'm not sure why Ctrl i doesn't work for you but these strange things happen. Try Filter > Adjustments > Invert and that will do it for you :) Pleased to hear you enjoyed the video, thanks for the kind comment :)

    Im wondering if i can apply this effect to a video? maybe frame by frame but each frame would be so unique

    • @davro06
      @davro06  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Good question MyNameStartsWithTriangles, It would be something you would have to try in Photoshop CC as it allows you to combine the effect as well as working with video. It would take a lot of work but could look pretty good :)

    Thanks, and everything was easy to follow. However, at the end when I added a layer and "merged visible" there was only one layer showing and all the white around the edges was gone. What happened. The drawing lost the water color character and resulted in an "edge-to-edge illustration. James D Brown, architect

    • @davro06
      @davro06  10 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hello James, make sure you hold down Alt/Option when using Layer > Merge Visible. This will the combine all the layers below, Sketch, FX paint, FX and Background into the empty layer. Hope this helps. Cheers David

    great work sir, but may i ask: where is the texture? i cant find it in PTS CC2017, maybe it's an addon ?

    • @davro06
      @davro06  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Minh Viet that texture is in all versions of Photoshop. In CC you'll find it under Filter > Filter Gallery > Texture > Texturizer. You will see Texture and a drop down menu, it's here you'll find Sandstone. Hope this helps

    I'm using photoshop elements 13. When i paint on the FX paint layer nothing happens. When I merge the the layers I only see the sketch layer with no further effect.

    • @davro06
      @davro06  10 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Johnny, don't forget to change the Sketch layer to Darken Blend Mode, which will allow you to see through it. Make sure you have Black as the foreground colour and try painting on the FX paint layer (Color Dodge Blend Mode) with 100% Opacity set for the brush and see if that works, the reduce it to around 5%.. Try it with a different image as sometimes the tonal range of the image you've select may not work with the blend modes. Hope this helps David

    When I use the colour dodge on my inverted layer there are still patches of bright yellow visible. How do I fix this?

    • @davro06
      @davro06  9 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Sam Wyllie when you invert it using Ctrl/Cmd I does it look like a negative? I have a feeling it's the Invert stage where the problem is, make sure you press Ctl + i on a PC Cmd + i on a Mac together. Hope this helps and let me know how you get on

    Nice tutorial! The last thing I do with many "art" treatments like this one is to apply the anisotropic diffusion filter. This is a fairly weak effect with no way to control the strength of it, so sometimes I've applied it twice or even three times. This should not be confused with a "blur" effect, but more of a "softening and blending" effect.

    • @davro06
      @davro06  9 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes I've use the anisotropic diffusion filter in the past, it adds a nice effect but you do need to turn the image 90deg to stop banding. Not sure it adds anything to this image but sometimes worth trying:)

    • @TechSupport100
      @TechSupport100 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      davrodigital Worked beautifully on your final with no banding. I also got rid of those sail numbers that give the whole show away.

    What am I doing wrong. I follow exactly what you are doing, but when I go to paint, either nothing happens or I get the negative colours, not the real colours.

    • @davro06
      @davro06  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Gail Brown make sure you have the FX paint (Color Dodge) layer selected. Select the paint brush and under Tool Options and make sure that you have the "Brush" with the Opacity set to 100% selected. It should paint as in the video. Hope this helps and please let me know how you get on
