    You tested the charger plug with multimeter probes.
    On my plug, the central hole is too small for the probe to go in, so it looked like zero volts.
    When I used a pin to extend the probe, the charger voltage was correct.
    However, the cleaner still showed no life. The battery showed no charge AT ALL!
    I'd have thought there would be some residual charge at least.
    Any ideas?
    And, btw, how do you open a V11's battery?

      Will confirm this is the correct answer. This gentleman is definitely experienced, however, as he said he can still make mistakes. The problem is in fact the battery and the error code being returned by the bms and battery. Curbfound a Dyson sv07 whose battery flashed 10 times in red. Replaced the charger to no avail. The machine works as soon as a new battery pack was installed. Hope you can learn from my mistake which I paid for.

    Hello, On my Dyson DC34 the continuity test on the motor block is fine the battery shows 20V but it doesn't works. What could be the reason? When I press the switch led lits up, when I press the MAX button it lits up but upon charging the light on the charger doesn't lits. I have tried with a new charger doesn't shows any change. Please advise what could be the reason. Thanks

    Hi, this worked OK for a few months but then it started to develop a problem - it runs for 20-30 seconds or so and then stops running, it then wont run again until several hours later or sometimes the next day.
    I build race cars so I dont mind trying to fix stuff, I got in touch with customer services and I set about cleaning filters, disassembling the unit, changing filter for a new one etc - the kind of stuff that no housewife/mum has time to do - after all this the Dyson still doesnt work, so I can build a car engine from parts but I cannot fix this vacuum cleaner.
    Got in touch with customer services again who said "buy a new battery for £60" - unbelievable, so the battery in my phone works everyday for years but the same type of battery in the dyson lasts only 6 months charged around once a week.
    We have since gone old school and are now using the stand up dust pan and brush, we do not miss the crappy Dyson but id like my £250 back from that self-superior sounding con-man off the TV who has sold me a pile of rubbish.

      @@livdog5055, I had the same issue. I disconnected the battery and tested the Dyson motor/body for ohms and got 1.4 ohms. I looked at the battery connectors on the body side and saw that they were dusty which would mean they didn't get a good connection with the battery. I wiped off the dust from the connectors with my fingers and bent both connectors inward towards each other so that there would be better contact with the battery. Eureka, vacuum now works for me. Good luck.

  • @randycollens2681
    @randycollens2681 2 ปีที่แล้ว +4

    Poor fault finding skills here…. 2 sec in, and your trying to test the switch while it’s on the mount and plugged in. It cannot run in that state. Next you say the battery is flashing blue so it’s good. Strike Two! Flashing battery light means dead or failing battery. Next you test the battery, without actually using probes that can reach the metal inside, so Ofcourse you won’t get a voltage. Strike Three! I was shocked to see you finally made it to the real problem, the charger. If you ever read 0V DC on lithium cells, it’s garbage. They are designed not to go below a certain voltage, or they will no longer take a charge and need replacing.

  • @ervidg.6304

    Nice vid. But unfortunately not 100 percent correct. About the tests. As continuity test should be on a close circuit....and he didnt on the charger . ...but then on the side of the plastic glass holder shape... there are two metal connections. Clean and push them out ... should restart the system . Anyway not to diss this ...it was this video that made me work and repair my one . Thank you

    • @Jst4funn
      @Jst4funn 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@HealMyTech1 in order to have a continuity test.. The other end of the cable he was testing would have to have been either plugged into the vac or purposely shorted to connect the positive to the negative to create a loop (close the circuit) for testing.. By fixing the problem with a new charger was merely co-incidental , unless he did further testing that he did not show us..

    Please be aware that fault finding like this on a Dyson V7 doesn't quite follow simple logic. MyV7 vacuum wouldn't turn on after sucking up a mucky load and dumping. When plugged in the light would be solid blue for a minute then turn off, wall charger had voltage. I checked the battery and it showed about 0.5V switch off, nothing with switch on. Oh well a new battery I thought, thoroughly cleaned the rest of the unit and reassembled in anticipation of a new battery but the unit worked when the trigger was pressed. The logic board in battery seems to require the motor attached to supply voltage. Even with these assembled it requires the Bin body AND the cyclone inserted to be able to turn on the unit, pop the cyclone up and the unit wont turn on - a dirty connection at this point will obviously stop the unit
