I've become recently obsessed with electric sailboats. This is the cleanest installation I have seen in my many hours exploring various channels. A very easy sub. I look forward to seeing more of what you're doing.
hmmm... zero explanations.... how are you wiring them series, parallel ? how are you considering the issue of 1 series panel obstructed causing a drop across all series'd panells ? what tests and measurements have you done ? needs much more information for me but well done of course. what about regen and prop type, is it feathered or servo'd ?
can I get more detals about those solar panels? and their thin wires? I am building a catamaran, and want to make them permanent into the side of the hull, but, I was worried about cable durability, salt water, and also ability to change out every 10 years. Who is the manufacture? can you epoxy over them?
All solar panels are connected in parallel. According to the supplier Sunbeam, there is no need to use diodes when in parallel. They are connected to 4 MPPT charges and they have the added function of boosting the V to a max of 58,4 V. You will also see in later videos that we have added 800 W on the cockpit side as wind breakers. To this we have added 2 new MPPT, + one extra in spare that can be hooked up to a foldable panel in the rear of the boat. Under good conditions, the boat will move 2,5-3 knots on solar panels alone.

Thank you for your kind remarks. As soon as the ice around the boat melts, there will be more installation and tests.
Excellent work!! And cute dog!!

That is what i call “ maximum utilisation” of space . Do let us know how its been working out for you
I will check real life results this season.
Nice installation. Did you use Diodes in between panels ? How did you plug these 24 on MPPT controller ? Multiple MPPTs ? Thanks in advance.
