i love a typical movie like this when it's just full of conversations. it reminds you about life and the little things in it, it makes you think after you finished watching it
Ethan and Julie were actually both co-writers on the script so that they could model the characters off of themselves and seem more natural in the role and when saying the dialogue
i'm sure he answers in just a few syllables so that he can get to his question and continuously hear her talk. "i already know about me, what about you" attitude
These scenes are so deep and perfect for that age bracket- when Jesse feels the conversation move him towards the friend zone slightly as a confidant, he touches her hair to hold onto the romantic current. As a guy, this is very relatable, not to mention very necessary sometimes. No matter how compatible you are with a girl, they will let things slide into the friend zone if you just let them.
I appreciate the honesty. That is quite a bit of insight. The whole thing with him changing his voice a bit to ask her that very personal question...is it a way to feel braver about the question? That is a bit difficult to ask. I know this just a movie people...however it's very in depth...I have loved it for several years now.
@@Vick77777 This is always been my interpretation. That he used that voice as an affectation to provide him with a extra bit of confidence and cover to ask an intimate question.
Admiring that it's all one take. Imagine waiting for the tram in 1994 and seeing one drive by with a whole film crew in it, wondering what movie is being filmed in the small city of Vienna. I know it's nothing special but I would've still found it cool, I recently got to see a bit of 2 big movies being shot in my city and it was fun
well well it's veen exactly one year since i watched this movie. in most movies, they introduce antagonist or involve side characters in their story. but this piece was unique on it's own. i never imagined that i could love a movie so much that it's only about 2 lovers talking with each other about life and relationships in a deeper level. every minute of this was worth watching. 90's movies were something else. i wish i was born in 19s.
Damn, this is so realistic so it made me believe that I had relationships just like these. Love these three films so much for the thing that they show and teach you being romantic and true not-selfish!
Everything happened in France is romantic, even you take a piss is still more romantic than you do it in the UK. I mean look at this scene, just a small chat in a train, and it makes you so obsessed with the conversation.
Why did he ask her what pisses her off? It could just be that he's just making conversation...the question has me curious. I think he is sprung already.
While I don't disagree, it's conversation. They bullshit and chat for three movies. That's what basically happens. They converse about anything that comes to their mind. Part of the charm in these movies.
I think the writer missed an opportunity to give Ethan a joke about the fact he's also a swimmer but the only thing he shaves was his balls. That would be a riot.
Julie reply is an utter goddess and a fabulous leading ladies on par with the greats like Ingrid Bergman and Vivian eight etc - but Ethan hawk is repulsive. terrible casting there. glad she made her own Parisian romance movie between an american and a French two decades later. she was also a better film maker.
I mean what's the problem in giving someone else a smile when you see them on the street? It's not telling them 'you have a boring life' but makes it a bit easier to stumble across the day... Doesn't it?
Women often get told to smile by male strangers and it gets really annoying. Plus, it's like they only pick women to do that, as if women are only there to make a man feel better.
If you don't feel like doing something don't do it and no form of other persons could make you do it. My say is, if you feel being happy then let it flow on your face. Don't stop. Live and do what you want. & If you being happy could make someone else Happy, then there is nothing better than it 💛
Because Scorpio is a feminine sign. Ethan Hawke wrote the movie and acted the part he wrote for himself as a Scorpio. It is even mention in disbelief in the movie, but yes Scorpio is a feminine sign and speaks the language of women. It is dangerous 😃

I love hers more
Some people say I look like Ethan Hawke... I reckon they must be surely kidding.

In an alt, indie kind of way.

With a little work on her accent, Julie Delpy could have passed for a typical American girl. I am surprised she didn't make a career in Hollywood.
