    I just rode the red line for the first time; rode my bicycle down to the Broad Ripple station and was able to ride the red line all the way downtown. No hunting for parking and no fighting traffic. It was actually pretty awesome. I wish it went farther north though so it wasn't such a long bike trip to the end. It would also have been sweet to have secure bicycle parking at the station so I could have just left my bike (didn't need it once in town). Looking forward to how we can keep improving transit in Indy!

      The good news is that unlike the infrastructure we have here in NYC, it should be much more affordable to expand your bus rapid transit. Really hoping other American cities take notice.

    How is this unlike anything Indy has ever seen? Indy used to have regular bus service and before that, trolleys.

    I don't have an issue with change. I just hope people use the service. The city has invested our tax dollars into this. People drive so crazy it should be interesting watching people navigate this.

      Ridership is dropping fast. Total Fail. Tax dollar waste. Only been 5 months and its already failing.

    I am fine with this but It should have been light rail. Half the drivers in indy are crap. They need this for their safety.

      If drivers are crap, they should learn how to drive well. And I agree with you, many of them are crap drivers.

    FYI, when I was a kid in the 50s, Indy had an electric rail system. Before that we had what was called the Interurban. It was electric rail and as the name suggests would take people to surrounding cities. I'm not sure how far but I know it went as far as Columbus to the south. Why they ripped it out, I have no idea.

    I live in Oklahoma City and have so for many years. We have light rail (street cars) like Kansas City has downtown. I was born and raised in Indy. Such a shame Indy didn't go for the light rail transit instead.

      This runs more frequently though than the KC street car. No doubt light rail looks nicer tho.

    I appreciate y'all uploading this but why so negative? This is a huge infrastructure project connecting much of the city and it feels your coverage didn't highlight many of the potential benefits.

    What an absolutely terrible concept. Poorly conceived. The city has the opportunity to have proper transit and they Hoosier the hell out of it. The bus line needs to go and it needs to be replaced with light rail. Time will prove this project to be a complete failure. It isn't just about ridership but also accidents and increased congestion due to the reduced number of lanes for cars.

    😂 4 years later and Lawrence gets a Library & now I see what all the red paint and road work here @ 56th & Post! If its anything like those ridiculous turn abouts's where its like playing 🐔 no thank you!

    We need to stop the "Blue Line" before the bus company also destroys Washington St.

    How does this help when it does not go where the buses don't. Like the airport and businesses out that way for the people that use public transportation for work.. I say very useless and a poor way to spend taxpayers money.

    This country needs to make traffic rules a government regulated thing. Letting individual municipalities decide there own traffic patterns and rules doesn't seem to be working too well.

      Standardization might be a good thing, but involving the federal government would be a huge mistake.
