Im 16 and started my own lawn business about 3 years ago. Just bought a 52 inch Toro 2000 Z master of this guy who gave me a 700 dollar discount! I ended up only paying 1800 for it and it is in almost perfect condition. Very little rust and only 1519 hours on it. I must say, it takes time getting used to.
Got a kubota 242kw-48 delivered today. It’s my first ztr. Took a few minutes to get orientated to operating but not too bad. Btw, this thing is a beast. So happy.

Just got a Gravely ZT XL 42 for home use. Never used one. Just started up and...1+ hours later finished the lawn but realize I have some learning to do. Wasn't planning on the zero turn but up here in the North East there are no standard lawn tractors to be found. Thanks for the tips.
I bought a ZT HD 48 Gravely, and I love the job that its doing. Plenty of power and mowers really nice. Live in hilly Pa so it took some getting use to but I really like it .👍

Great video Brian, I’ve been cutting for 10 years and I just watched this just because! I always engage my blades at full because at half throttle and less my deck jumps and my belts squeal but at full it does do that.
My parents gave me a new zero turn mower. Thank you for producing a video for people like me who don't know how to operate a zero turn and want to make sure they don't break it the first time they use it!
At home I use a cab cadet ultra zero turn 50". At work we use scag turf tiger twos with the 61"deck. Such a difference, gonna have to upgrade the home mower 😎

Yesterday my wife and I purchased our first zero-turn mower, a 2022 Gravely Pro-Turn 148, to replace the 2010 Cub Cadet GT2550 garden tractor whose Kohler Command engine died in the middle of the 2021 mowing season. Our 2.5 acre yard has some significant hills in the 30° range but the previous owner of our property and the lawncare service we had to hire both used zero-turn mowers, so I know that it is possible. Thank you for putting this video together to help me learn to operate my new machine safely. The Gravely dealer, who seems extremely knowledgeable (we dealt with the dealership's owner), specifically instructed me to always engage or disengage the PTO at full throttle as the clutch is designed for that. Any thoughts on this? I want to make sure that I keep this thing in good shape for a LONG time...
Hey Brian I just subscribed been watching for a couple months now. Wife and I are moving from Dearborn to a place an hour northeast of Detroit. 5 acres but about 2 -3 acres that will be mowed. I have a Bad Boy Maverick 60" deck with a kawasaki motor. Its a 2021. The dealer is holding it for me. We have another place in northern MI not much land but we've got a Deere L120. Good morning. I just purchased 2 acres of property with a nice yard. I have no clue about zero turn mowers but I bought a nice used gravely 50 inch zero turn are they decent mowers it has a 24hp motor.
Just started mowing with our first Z two days ago. A new John Deere Z950R with a rear-discharge deck and Tweels. Going to stuff it in an enclosed aluminum E-Z Hauler next week. Most expensive thing I've bought to date. Check it out soon at Flat Fee TV.
I just switch over to electric this year. I got the Mean Green 60" zero turn and a 48" stand on. I have about 100 hours in this year between the two. I am really impressed with them. Have you tried them out Brian?

Hey Brian, thanks for the videos! I just bought a new Exmark radius s. Question… I’ve noticed that when reversing I can let go of the handles and they’ll go back to neutral on their own. But when moving forward if I let go they stay in forward. Is that normal? I was told by a buddy that he’s never seen that so it might be an exmark thing.
They should have dampeners that return them to the neutral position, so I’m not sure on that one. I haven’t ran the quest much, so I’m not sure. Sorry mate.
Little word to the wise for guys starting out. How I train my helpers is you want to turn with your hips. The way you move the handles is the same way your hips turn, thusly the mower. Hope that helps as well.
I got a exmark radius e series last year from Weingartz. I love cutting the grass with it. I have the mulch kit on it. I might in the future get the bagger vac system. I know u have the lawn striping video but how do u cut the grass on a weekly basis? Do u go north south one week then east west next week and then diagonal each way the next two weeks? Last year I was only going north south and east west directions and started to get ruts. Maybe create video about it? Overall I love the exmark.
I'm actually getting ready to pick up my first one for my big yard and can't wait. The one thing is behind my shed is a little hill and it leans to the right. How would I keep the mower from going right while going down it. I saw on another video to just pull back on the left one to lower the speed on that tire.

Just bought the Hustler Raptor XDX! Not going to lie to you I started using it for the first time on a yard I shouldnt have... very uneven ground and very slanted in some spots. It terrified me by the slanted curb area... I slipped off and had to raise the deck and back off of the curb..... be careful guys...

New Gravely ZT owner here. Why not put the throttle at minimum speed before engaging/disengaging the blade PTO? If half speed is good for the clutch and pulleys, isn’t low speed even better?
Brian...Toro is the Parent Company for Exmark correct? So in your opinion what are the differences between the two brands? Which brand is better engineered/built? Which brand is 'better' for the average homeowner? Toro or Exmark? Is Exmark more geared for the Commercial User then Toro? (EDIT: I know Toro has a Full Commercial Line...It just seems Exmark is geared more toward Commercial even though they also have a Residential Line) Things like this...Thanks.
Just another Briggs. The structure is universal these days. Briggs had to stay afloat after everything they touched got sued for false HP rating. Now if you ever find an Asian mower with a banned Tecumseh engine, please let me know.
I've only mowed with a tractor lawn mower, but I was wondering if you should do those at medium throttle as well to engage the blades? I had never thought of it before, but my tractor lawn mower does have a hydrostatic transmission which I guess is similar to ZTR.

Pretty simple question... when you're cutting and you want the blades to come up , is it reasonable to adjust deck height on the fly? IE go from say a 4 to a 6? (When you are going over a bump, rocks, etc) or would it be better to stop, disengage blades, and then just drive past the "spot" ?
I've had problems with the front casters twisting up the grass when turning. In this video when you demonstrate the turn, your front left caster did the same thing on the pavement, any suggestions?

Grass roots should be trained at a 2. It all starts at the root.
3" here in central WI as well. A lot of yards would burn out mid to late summer if cut at 2".

A standard mid-mount mower will do you just fine. Grasshoppers are nice, but they're expensive and a little dated.
Have a commander X brand, but the scag 32 in stand on is a beast

I would suggest half to 3/4 on all mowers based on my experience and observation, but always consult the manual first!

Yep, we just feather the deck when we come up against a rock, well, divot etc

Back up, and then go forward to make the casters already turn a little.
