Honestly, the old Pokemon games were linear too. You always had some asshat NPC telling you that you can't go this way because someone's uterus exploded or something, forcing you to go another way and battle Asshat to unlock that path.
at least you could unlock it. so many towns now have one way in one way out without any kind of offroad path.

This tbh. I get the point the meme is trying to make, but even then, Sinnoh, while it looks very open, had NPCs blocking your path, rocks, trees, or water sealing off parts of the map until you had the right badge/HM (also remember how Strength in Diamond and Pearl was just hidden in a random dungeon that you would never think of searching, as the story never leads you there, and Rock Climb was just a random item lying about on one of the snow routes that anyone could easily miss? Sinnoh had some questionable design choices is all i'm trying to say)
The issue isn't that the old games are better in these aspects it's moreso they were good with all the limitations in place, but today gamefreak really doesn't have an excuse not to create a better pokemon experience
@@Chrischi3TutorialLPs maybeh... but hear this: in kanto, after misty, you could battle all 5 gyms before Giovanni in any order you want. (that is why level curve is a little cursed) in jotho, you could go 5th and 6th gym or rocket event and 7th gym(again, destroys the level curve.) in hoenn, you could skip 2nd and 6th gyms until the endgame(less f***ed up level curve, but brutal e4.). sinnoh is start of linearity since there are alot of story events that is needed to run in one way. but you could kinda skip maylene. UNOVA starts the main road/side road trend. half of the map wont open until you completed the leuge and beat N and Ghetsis. rest is history. but i think linearity isnt that bad of a thing. because more linearity means you can control your and your opponent's levels easier. you dont want the trainer who started his PKMN journey half an hour ago enter a room filled with trainers who has mid 40 LV pokemons, do you?
6:09 already knew about this lore. This is why the boss didnt kicked jessie and james out of commision in team rocket despite their terrible performance. Iirc, her mother is Giovanni's good friend and the boss rather have them task to a wild Pikachu chase than to engage actually more dangerous criminal activity.
Except in B&W they showed they were so damn good at the criminal activity and just very bad at the Pikachu stuff.
Didn't even assigned them to the Pikachu. He didn't care about Pikachu he just wanted results and benefits from them. But they choose the task of a Pikachu instead of literally stealing random people Pokemon. More time's than I care to count they could've stolen many if it wasn't for those meddling kids and that hepatitis infected rat.

I honestly find her voice extremely annoying, I literally can't stand it. I'm pretty sensitive to some sounds and her voice just hits all the notes that get on my nerves, not only that, she is screaming all the time. Nothing else really, the Pokemon games have no voice acting anyways so it doesn't bother me that much. I wouldn't watch that video trailer ever again though
IMO, her voice is very annoying but, as an artist, I will say that I think that she’s very well designed

The main reason why people dislike X and Y is because the gym leaders are total pushovers with weak teams, weak movesets, and they hype up the Mega evolutions so much despite the gym leaders and elite four never using them until the end
I like gen 6 because the memories i have with omega ruby are truly unforgettable, also using latios to sweep the floor with drake was really appealing to me as a 7 year old

I mean, in Sword and Shield the catching tutorial is, in fact, skippable. After you first see the box legendary, you talk to your mom and she gives you 5 pokeballs, if you catch a pokemon before reaching Route 2, where Leon gives the catching tutorial, he'll comment on how you already know how to catch pokemon and give you more pokeballs without going through the tutorial.
