Gosh, i know this is old but the first 40 seconds REALLY helped me see what i need to do! Most trainers only put the end results in the video and thats useless when we are starting from scratch! Thank you!❤
I know you posted this video years ago but I just wanna take the time to say thank you for showing this with a horse that doesn’t know how to lunge. And thank you for teaching us to go through the ugly in order to get the result needed. I had the courage to try this with my filly today and IT WORKED
There is a better way that involves less confusion, less drama, less dictatorship. Respect is a myth in this narrative. Authentic rapport is better than having a horse run around you out of a battle of the wills.
Sorry I've been busy but you have to up the pressure if your horse is running into in your space. Go after his head and get him turned. Work every chance you get on keeping him to respect your space. Good Luck. Get Clintons DVDs. :)--
I know this is a three year old comment, but I was working with a horse that did this. you have to tap closer to the face (like right behind the poll) to really encourage them to move out of your space.
Thank u! This is so much better then Clinton Anderson’s lunging for respect! U actually only did what was necessary to get the horse to move Clinton would have just jumped to the extreme and hit the horse hard to get it to do what he wanted.
A thousand things wrong with this approach. Including wrong equipment. Teaching the horse all kinds of things it should not know while being completely unfair and, most importantly, failing to explain to the horse what is wanted by offering -- and putting the horse in -- the best circumstances for the horse to succeed. No reason for any horse to go "through ugly moments" in order to learn. Lazy human puts the horse through the "uglies" when that's completely unnecessary. This isn't longe work. It's the waste of a little horse. Poor horse. Maybe the silly music is intended as a cover up to the obvious mess.
Sorry, I don't want to criticize you, but don't move your feet so much if it's possible. But this is GOOD for the first time. We are not CA and we should not compare with him.
I have a 4 yr old tennessee Walker and he knows how to longe but won't for me ,not afraid of the flag stick bag ect ,I know he a dominant gelding, and it's a respect problem
Clinton always says to find a starting point and pressure as easy as possible but as firm as necessary to get the job done. Point, cluck, swing your stick then go to the head not the hind quarters. You might have to tap his head. Start easy you should get a quick response if you energy is saying move but up the pressure till you get him to move in direction you pointed then take off pressure. If he stops start again Friday m beginning the easy and build till he moves where you want. Eventually he’ll move just with a point of your hand. It’s a easy as possible but a firm as necessary. Once you start don’t stop till you get the correct movement direction you are asking for. Just my suggestion but if he’s dominate work on backing him up too. A LOT😁 do what you gotta do to get the job done. Remember always start as lite as possible but raise the heat. Ok. Gone on too long. Lemeno how it goes. Good luck
I am having this same issue with my née mare she rears now and stands her ground I found a trainer who is going to start her on square one double lead lines
@@TheGypsyGirl77 I was told once a dominant mare would not respect a woman ,you need to lay her on the ground for a few minutes to let her know you are bigger ,and e cowboy taught me this ,she is just testing you and your leadership ,don't give up ,my walker is line bred ,that's where he gets being stubborn,
@@TheGypsyGirl77 This happens a lot with mares. They don't like it when humans don't have a higher level of horse communication and start acting resentful and angry. I would highly suggest going back to bare basics, let go of trying to lunge and instead just ask her to move a specific body part out of a specific area. A hind quarter yield is a great way to start. I would highly suggest getting a natural horsemanship person out to first show you and your mare, and then watch you and help you step by step. Once you learn to speak "horse" you will find your mare enjoys your company for just you, not what you can give her.

Thank you so much for posting this video! I needed to see the whole process. I am having trouble getting my horse to LFR1...
I am not getting it.
I’m struggling with this. My horse doesn’t go backwards but brings his shoulders into my space. Any suggestions?

Yes, I agree with you. Thank you for speaking up.
Absolutely! He needs to take lessons from the master Monty Roberts.

Good job...the music put me to sleep
the lead shank is too long...shorten it and the nose will move sooner and more clearly
looks pointless and the horse is lame
Loose the damn music
