I usually don't subscribe to youtube channels. But I have subscribed to yours. I have learned a lot from your speed runs episodes. I love the good natured commentary, respect for opponents as well as the analysis. Such wholesome content and a fine person. Thank you Eric.
Phenomenal. You make it look so easy. You convert totally losing positions against 2100+ players. The second game was the most impressive. Seems like you rolled over the other two. I guess that's also impressive given the opponents ratings. I'm always impressed by this series, it's the best chess series I've ever seen.
Eric, your consistancy of quality content, in and out of tournements is truly amazing. For me as an average chess amateur who just digests every video of yours without hesitation, I thank you for making chess very, very interesting to watch.
I was shocked to see you do Rxe5 in game 2 but it was lucky your opponent didnt see the best trading moves there either. The bishop was in a very good spot, covering the back rank threat
the first account was closed for fair play violations but the second opponent seemed the most interesting to me. they found some very strong moves then started fumbling the bag seconds later.
@@rhysgriffiths9675 That account seems legit to me. Exists since late 2023, plays a few games daily. Decent mixture of wins and losses. He's friends with other people from Nicaragua, Argentina and Cuba and he also has a shirtless selfie as profile pic (very classy). For comparison, the first guy made their account eight days ago and won nearly all of their games.
I am amazed that people would recognise the account and then resign. I would love to be strong enough to at least give Eric a hard time. There is very little downside that I can think of.
Completely agree. You know your opponent will play slower as they're doing an instructional speed run. It's your best opportunity to beat an IM as a 2200 player. But I'm 1000, so maybe there's more to it that I'm missing 😂
Eric what message do these people get when their rating is refunded? “We have detected that one or more of your opponents was secretly one of the best players in the world, that’s why he kicked your ass”
Looked to me like the second opponent cheated through the middle game based on the timing and accuracy of the moves and then once they started playing on their own for fear of the algorithm catching them or because the time situation dictated they take over, played a bit more like a patzer. Quite suspicious. Also, anytime a player rated in the 2100s gets an IM in trouble with that much of a time advantage, one is usually correct to assume they are using an engine.
I think the second game is such a good lesson in the downfall of passive play. At first I assumed I was in the wrong and was going to take a lesson of patience from it, but I think Eric’s biggest practical weakness (and many chess players’) is a lack of aggression. “Improving moves” seem sound in theory but creating threats your opponent has to respond to, even if sacrificing material or position to create imbalances and weaknesses is so important. I genuinely think if Eric played a little more “recklessly” (with lots of aggression) he would become a GM. Aggressive chess is not a side thing or something to avoid in “serious” play. This series is incredible Eric, thank you so much for it! You’re the best!
He mentioned in his previous speedrun that he's going to start another focused on more aggressive, less sound play, so that'll be an interesting comparison for sure.
Now that you mentioned it, it makes guys like Karpov or Petrosian look even more impressive with their endless supply of improving moves that didn't weaken their positions. Sure, Karpov lost to Kasparov and Petrosian to Fischer but they've beaten many great attackers too.
The second games biggest weakness was going against an engine. That guy punished passive play because the engine could find the moves. As soon as he ran low on time, he played about 500 elo worse
@@wsemenskeExactly. You can almost tell the exact moment when his opponent turned off the engine, after he was a full piece up. Then he started moving his bishop around pointlessly, giving away free tempos and losing the precision he played with earlier in the game. No one plays incredibly with equal material and suddenly plays worse when they’re a piece up.
I’m addicted to your videos for around 5 years now. I suggest you make more opening speed runs and edit the videos to have only white opening and only black openings. I understand that rating climbing will not be very consistent but I think this is the best way for many of us to learn openings and their variations specially if it is 5+5 blitz
In the first game, when the opponent attacks the rock Eric could take the pown with check than take another pown at a6 and protecting his rock with his queen
A couple moves before the first game finished, you had the opportunity for Qxe6+, Bf 7, Qxa6. And the knight would be pinned to opponents queen Right? Is there something wrong with that plan?
@@Inshallahsiuuuu Agreed that...Bc4 looks good. But anyway, the Black Knight would not be pinned. Black could play...Nxb7 as his Q is defended by the c5B.
I don't understand why people wouldn't want to play you knowing who you are. They get to play a great player and even if they lose they get their rating refunded. All they would be losing out on is the time it takes to play the match.
Nah, I get it. If you would learn anything from it or have a nice social experience it would be nice. But playing rated rapid to bullet you want a fair game with equal chances.
6:35 couldn’t you have followed up Bf7 with Qxa6? Pinning the knight to the queen and your knight covers a8 so no rook shenanigans. You’re at the very least winning 2 pawns there.
I think it would help if you focus completely on your games during the 10 minutes, and then spent as long as you wanted doing commentary and review in game-review afterwards.
He's still winning the games though. It would be more boring during the game to have no commentary but perhaps that would be best once his opponents get very strong.

I totally agree with you, Eric's respect for his opponents and his general positivity just keeps me coming back.
"my goal today is to play a bit quicker and manage my time better" - eric in every video ever
"Before you eat something you should make sure it's not poisoned" That's why I always have someone else taste pawns before I eat them.

The second will be banned soon for sure. It was clearly using engine early and then played badly with low time

Awesome video as usual, Eric. Interestingly the Account I-am-2500 has been closed due to violating the Fair Play Policy.
