I'm a deacon in our church, and it is my responsibility to count the offering with the other deacons every week. I am often reminded by the sins of Achan and that of Ananias and Sapphira, whenever I find myself alone with the offering plate. I'm sure that I'm not alone. God's strict discipline on them has given me resolve to know that I am accountable and, thank God, I have never strayed in that area.

I am a counter at the church i attend, and as a counter, I ALWAYS have a second counter in the room with me. It's standard policy that there be two counters every time the offering is counted. Keeps us honest.

      ‘You shall not steal.
      - Deuteronomy 5:19
‘You shall not covet your neighbor’s wife, and you shall not desire your neighbor’s house, his field or his male servant or his female servant, his ox or his donkey or anything that belongs to your neighbor.’
      - Deuteronomy 5:21
For this you know with certainty, that no immoral or impure person or covetous man, who is an idolater, has an inheritance in the kingdom of Christ and God. Let no one deceive you with empty words, for because of these things the wrath of God comes upon the sons of disobedience.
      - Ephesians 5:5-6
But actually, I wrote to you not to associate with any so-called brother if he is an immoral person, or covetous, or an idolater, or a reviler, or a drunkard, or a swindler-not even to eat with such a one.
      - 1 Corinthians 5:11
*“Will a man rob God?* Yet you are robbing Me! But you say, ‘How have we robbed You?’ In tithes and offerings.
      - Malachi 3:8

What Ananias and Sapphira did was not stealing it was lying to the Holy Spirit. When are you people going to see that and not interpret it incorrectly. If stealing was the sin then most of us would be dead. Peter told them that the money from the sale of their property was theirs and they didn't have to give any of it, they did not steal anything. The lie was the ultimate sin because they lied to the Holy Spirit, them having the Holy Spirit within them. We can only lie to the Holy Spirit if we have been given the Holy Spirit. They weren't lying to he Holy Spirit in Peter but to the Holy Spirit within themselves. Ananias and Sapphira were killed by God.

Great => but you aren’t part of the Kingdom Church and God doesn’t deal with us in the same way HE did Ananias and Sapphira….
…..if this isn’t clear to you => let me ask you => does your church or is the Lord asking you now, in this dispensation => to sell everything and give it to the church? Is the church, even your small local church acting in perfect unity and harmony?
      Hard No !
None of this negates you from personally needing to deal honestly => but the severity of the punishment now is so much different and of course disunity and disharmony ARE NOW COMMON TRADEMARKS WITHIN CHRISTENDOM!
Is salvation today about your behavior => or Jesus sacrifice and D, B & R ?
The Kingdom church had a Performance Based Acceptance => we do not !

Today I again committed a sin that I'm currently struggling with. I apologised to God and asked for forgiveness (I did that so many times and I still don't walk in obedience and discipline regarding this issue :(( ). At one moment during the day I remembered that story of Ananias and his wife and I knew that God was turning my attention to understand that He is not to be joked and fooled around... He can literally take the life for sin. He wants real devotion and 100% purity of heart from the saints. I'm still a new believer and still trying to figure out this thing about "once saved always saved" ... What a narrow road in deed this is...

John 5:25 "Truly, truly, I say to you, whoever hears my word and believes him who sent me has eternal life. He does not come into judgment, but has passed from death to life."
John 6:37 "All that the Father gives me will come to me, and whoever comes to me I will never cast out."
Sanctification is a lifelong process. Keep working on your sin issues, always inviting God into the process through prayer and confession. You can't do it through the flesh alone. God bless you!

Now you said you asked for forgiveness? That’s all fine and all, but I would ask since you asked Christ to forgive you how would he forgive you?
Main stream Christianity has lost sight of the power of the cross and what it has don’t for us, it has forgiven us off all trespasses, you don’t ask for forgiveness what you need to do is believe that Christ has already forgiven you.
He forgave you by coming down in the form of sinful flesh and became your sin and mine on the cross and paid the penalty for our sin which was death, then he was buried and rose from the dead and so we to should walk in newness of life!

Please read John 17 and Romans 8. If Jesus died for us while we were His enemies, how much more does He live for us now that we truly and willingly belong to Him? You have been justified by God Almighty, and ALL of your sins were (and are) forgiven at His cross. Jesus cried out "It is finished!" Which can also be translated, "Paid in full!" Literally every sin you have committed happened AFTER the cross, and He knew them all and elected you before the foundation of the world. Jesus paid for all of them, and His Resurrection and your sealing by the Holy Spirit is the proof that He was, and is, sufficient. You are in the Father's hand, and in Jesus's hand and sealed by the Holy Spirit. You are His, and He is Yours.

There are certain dynamics that must be in play for this to legitimately happen - and there are at times. Firstly, the offenders must have a mature understanding of what they are doing. Novice Christians are given more grace and mercy in such issues. Secondly, the minister eg. Peter, must be very mature and spiritually astute. Peter only knew Ananias's situation by the gifts of the Spirit. Peter wasn't questioning each and every person who gave. Notice Peter used reason with Sapphira when he asked her the obvious question based upon what her husband had previously told him. When Sapphira answered with a deception, Peter spoke by the Spirit and prophecied her judgement the same as jer husband's. Anyone attempting this without the leading of God's Spirit is practicing witchcraft. Familiar spirits may accommodate a dishonest minister.

It's a very sobering story, and not easily understood, but important to ponder. I mean, David is in heaven in spite of his fall, and Annanias and Saphira can be in heaven, God is still more merciful than we can understand, even if his judgements here on earth are harsh. We will find out eventually. Some are taken from this life yet still with God, we must trust him. Moses didn't see the promised land yet he is with God. This happened after Jesus's death and resurrection, and that's the really thought provoking dimension here!

I agree with the interpretation and I have always believed both Ananias and Saphira were real believers. Can true born born-again believers in Christ commit this type of sin? Absolutely they can. In fact a believer can commit virtually any sin that an unbeliever can commit if they yield to their old carnal nature or to Satanic temptations. Satan has it out for you and he wants to destroy your life. He walks about as a "roaring lion, seeking whom he may devour." Satan no doubt tempted them to do this and they yielded to it leading to their deaths. I also agree that this is a Biblical case of what First John calls the "sin unto death". I believe this kind of sin is especially committed against God Himself. They "had not lied unto men, but unto God." I believe a lot more people who were true believers are dead right now because of such sins. The Corinthian believers committed this sin with the Lord's supper and many of them were killed by God for it while others became very sick.

Sadly some believers are still lying today, deceiving, twisting their words and greiving the Holy Ghost almost everyday unless the Truth shall set you free. One of our member was stealing the tithes and offerings until it caught up on him and GOD exposed him. He is still alive today and no longer a memer; he is my nephew 😅
GOD wants to bless us and if we repent and have a genuine relationship with the Lord Jesus we can remain in his divine protection but if there is no true conversation then we remain in the curse; sin, and a child of the devil. The Bible says in 1 John 3:10 we were already children of the devil.
" In this the children of God and the children of the devil are manifest: Whoever does not practice righteousness is not of God, nor is he who does not love his brother"
GOD is good and I believe that with all my heart, and all my strength. This is bassed on revelation and a personal trial i went through. One thing for certain GOD can not be fooled. Look what happen when sinners use GOD'S name in vain; freak accidents has happened. The spirit realm is no joke. You need The blood of Jesus.

The central proposition in this video's explanation is essentially that sin itself does not destroy the sinner and therefore someone/something else (eg God) needs to do that. That presupposes that sin is actually a viable state of living. However, although very commonly held amongst Christianity, such a proposition is at odds with many key aspects of biblically-revealed/affirmed reality.
For example, note carefully Galatians 6:7-8 which states explicitly that those who sow the flesh reap destruction from the flesh - not from The Spirit. And this is the basis on which God is not mocked - or in other words that God is vindicated. God is vindicated because, contrary to Satan's age-old insinuation, God is not in fact the source of death. Rather, sin itself by its very nature as anomia/lawlessness (1 John 3:4) functionally can produce nothing but death - which is why the results of sin are most typically referred to as "perishing". Hence God is exclusively constantly trying to save us from the otherwise inevitability of death - precisely as John 3:16 and 2 Peter 3:9 affirm. And hence God truly is light in whom there is no darkness (1 John 1:5). Death is exclusively the fruit of darkness - just as life is exclusively the fruit of life (John 1:4).
I invite you to consider and study into this carefully for yourself...

This was a sin against the Holy Spirit(v3). Jesus gets very specific about sin and blasphemy against the Holy Spirit( Matthew 12:31-32, Mark 3:28-29). One cannot lie to the Holy Spirit if one doesn’t possess the Holy Spirit. Ananias and Sapphira certainly were converted children of God. It’s a tremendous stretch to try and apply Ananias and Sapphira’s death as “chastening” or “disciplining”. These words mean to train, educate, correct or punish for the purpose of correction. The point of Hebrews 12:5-11 is to help a Christian to repent and turn from error. That can hardly be accomplished from the grave(Ecclesiastes 9:5,10). This event seems more like judgment and sentencing than correction.
Only God knows their fate but I wouldn’t count on seeing them in the 1st resurrection.

Ananias and Sapphira made a pretense of giving the whole amount; however they “secretly held back some of the price.” (Acts 5:2) God struck this couple dead, not because the amount they gave was insufficient, but because their MOTIVE for giving was wicked and they were deceptive. They “lied, not to men, but to God.” (Acts 5:4)
Like the hypocrites whom Jesus condemned, Ananias and Sapphira were more concerned with seeking glory from men than the approval of God.

The narrator answered his own question of why God put to death Ananias and Sapphira - for lying, as Peter told Ananias: "An·a·niʹas, why has Satan emboldened you to lie to the holy spirit and secretly hold back some of the price of the field ? As long as it remained with you, did it not remain yours ?"
"And after it was sold, was it not in your control (or the full amount remained in Ananias' possession to give out as he wished) ? Why have you thought up such a deed as this in your heart (to deceive the apostles, saying that X amount was the full price received from the sale of the property when it was Y amount, and be like God's archenemy, Satan, to tell lies whom Jesus called "the father of the lie", John 8:44) ? You have lied, not to men, but to God.”
With start of the pouring out of holy spirit on the day of Pentecost, 33 C.E. on "the about 120 disciples" (Acts 1:15), these became "chosen ones" (Matt 24:22, 24, 31), in which Ananias and Sapphira were also "chosen ones" for God's heavenly Kingdom, that set them apart from everyone else as "special", and in which at Exodus 19:5, when God, whose name is Jehovah (see Isa 12:2; 26:4, KJV) had chosen the Israelites as his people, they became his "special property out of all the peoples".
However, due to apostasy, they were discarded and replaced with a new nation called "the Israel of God" of which Ananias and Sapphira were selected members (Gal 6:16), for Jesus told the Pharisees who were the chief leaders of fleshly Israel: "Did you never read in the Scriptures (at Ps 118:22, 23), ‘The stone (Jesus Christ) that the builders (the Jewish religious leaders) rejected, this has become the chief cornerstone (of a heavenly government)."
"This has come from Jehovah, and it is marvelous in our eyes’? This is why I say to you, the Kingdom of God will be TAKEN FROM YOU and be given to a (new) nation producing its fruits (of holy conduct, see Lev 19:2; 1 Pet 1:15, 16). Also, the person falling on (or attacking) this stone will be shattered. As for anyone on whom it falls (or attacks), it will crush him.”(Matt 21:42-44)
Ananias and Sapphira were part of the new nation of spiritual "Israel" (see Rom 9:6-8), a composite body of people made up of both Jews and Gentiles (Rom 11:11, 12), that replaced the apostate nation of fleshly Israel, who were notorious liars, deceivers and murderers.(see Matt 23:33-39)
Hence, Ananias and Sapphira were "sealed with holy spirit" (Eph 1:13, 14) and were to carefully follow "the law of the Christ" (Gal 6:2), in which Jesus left "a model for you to follow his steps closely. He committed no sin, nor was deception found in his mouth".(1 Pet 2:21, 22)
At Revelation 14, of those sealed with holy spirit for "the heavenly calling" (Heb 3:1), it says that "these are the ones who did not defile themselves with (symbolic) women (or false religious organizations, see Rev 17:5, in which Babylon the Great, the world empire of false religion, is called "the mother of the prostitutes" or has its "daughters" that keeps the lies going) in fact, they are virgins."
"These are the ones who keep following the Lamb no matter where he goes. These were bought from among mankind as firstfruits to God and to the Lamb, and no deceit was found in their mouths; they are without blemish."(Rev 14:4, 5)
So, Ananias and Sapphira received "justice" of everlasting death for lying to the apostles and especially to Jehovah God, for Revelation 21:8 states: "But as for the cowards and those without faith and those who are disgusting in their filth and murderers and the sexually immoral and those practicing spiritism and idolaters and all the LIARS, their portion will be in the (symbolic) lake that burns with fire and sulfur (or everlasting destruction). This means the second death.”

We have the Holy Ghost but he doesn’t operate the same way as he did under the gospel of the kingdom.
This is why 1 jhon can say things like “he who commits sin is not of God”
Because the Holy Ghost when he’s in his full power will not tolerate sin.

Except at no point in the Acts narrative does it say that God killed this couple. That is an assumption incorrectly made and which flies in the face of the fact that ALL sin was dealt with just weeks earlier at the cross (Rom 6:10 / 1 Peter 3:18 / 2 Cor 5:14,15) including Ananias' and Sapphira's sin. Following this video's logic, how did Peter himself escape capital 'discipline' when he disassociated himself from the inclusivity of the gospel and 'stood condemned' (Gal 2:11)? Or How did Saul ever live long enough to get to be Saul when he openly claimed to be 'the worst of sinners' (1 Timothy 1:16)? The central crux of the issue here is this: how much sin did Jesus deal with at the cross? All? Or only some? If all, then Ananias and Sapphira did not have their sin held against them (Heb 8:12 / 10:17). If only some, then we have an inadequate sacrifice in Jesus. No, God did not kill Ananias or Sapphira.

I am writing this before watching the video (Cardinal Sin I suppose). .. but from what I understand, it came down to two things:
    1) They were trying to virtue signal without actually giving it all. Yet, had they simply said "Yea, we are willing to give this, but not that."...that would have been e spiritually honest. But hey were trying to benefit from the reputation of being charitable without being straight about it. But that still seems weird, as in instant death seems like overkill. But... onto reason 2:
    2) A better explanation (in my humble opinion) is that as the newborn church was developing in it's nascent stage, God sure as hell wasn't going to allow the newborn church to be corrupted from the beginning. (There will be plenty of time for that later).

If Ananias and Sapphira were true believers why would they lied to Peter to the Holy Spirit and ultimately to God?
There was covetousness, lying, self idolatry, theft, hypocrisy, licentiousness, greed,.
But actually, I wrote to you not to associate with any so-called brother if he is an immoral person, or *covetous* or an idolater, or a reviler, or a drunkard, or a swindler-not even to eat with such a one.
    - 1 Corinthians 5:11
And Satan entered into Judas who was called Iscariot, belonging to the number of the twelve.
    - Luke 22:3
For this you know with certainty, that no immoral or impure person or *covetous man who is an idolater* has an inheritance in the kingdom of Christ and God. Let no one deceive you with empty words, for because of these things the wrath of God comes upon the *sons of disobedience*
    - Ephesians 5:5-6
*and will cut him in pieces and assign him a place with the hypocrites* in that place there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth.
    - Matthew 24:51
Nowhere in scripture we are told of their repentance, therefore saying they are in heaven or they were true believers is a huge stretch and false, you are either a sheep or a goat...also gives room for a so called brother to claim the faith when no repentance is shown, gives room for licentiousness and debauchery wich goes against God'sword...there's more evidence of their false rotten fruit which cannot be eaten because of its rotteness.
You will know them by their fruits. Grapes are not gathered from thorn bushes nor figs from thistles, are they? So every good tree bears good fruit, but the bad tree bears bad fruit. A good tree cannot produce bad fruit, nor can a bad tree produce good fruit. Every tree that does not bear good fruit is cut down and thrown into the fire. So then, you will know them by their fruits.
    - Matthew 7:16-20
But when he saw many of the Pharisees and Sadducees coming for baptism, he said to them, “You brood of vipers, who warned you to flee from the wrath to come? *Therefore bear fruit in keeping with repentance* and do not suppose that you can say to yourselves, ‘We have Abraham for our father’; for I say to you that from these stones God is able to raise up children to Abraham. The axe is already laid at the root of the trees; therefore every tree that does not bear good fruit is cut down and thrown into the fire.
    - Matthew 3:7-10
There is a kind who is pure in his own eyes,
Yet is not washed from his filthiness.
    - Proverbs 30:12
REPENTANCE FOR THE FORGIVENESS OF SINS...REPENT FOR THE KINGDOM OF HEAVEN IS AT HAND.

Nope, Ananias and Sapphira were lost forever when they sinned against the Holy Spirit by lying. It wasn't righteous discipline but righteous judgement. The only sin that will not be forgiven is the blaspheme of the Holy Spirit and that's what Ananias and Sapphira committed, no repentance and cannot be redeemed after this sin. I agree that it was a lesson to the others in the church however, it lets them and us know how seriously God considers this particular sin. This sin was directly against God and from two people who were in the faith and had the indwelling of the Holy Spirit. Fear God and do not come under His condemnation, as it won't be forgiven in this world or the world to come.
