The president is the Supreme Commander of the Indian Armed Forces. In Every house TV IS ON and watching Parade...
"Pushpa vrishti" or Flower rain is a common theme in ancient Hindu/Sanaatan texts like Ramayan and Mahabharat. Basically when someone did something truly great act of virtue the heavens (Gods) praised them with raining flowers/petals from the heaven. The modern version is a possibly a techie take on this ancient mythological happening. You know, Bharat is reclaiming her past, embracing her true culture shedding the islamo-colonial baggage, symbolically and spiritually.
Just to add president is a supreme commander of armed forces of India and smt. Draupadi Murmu comes from tribal community of India.
In stories and writings their are many instances where after some significant incident, God's showered flowers from the sky on the people on the earth synbolizing some victory or some incarnation of some God....that sort of stuff....
So it's kind of a grand gesture symbolizing that sort of event where flowers are been showered from sky
Sucks that you couldn't make it live this year, it's so much more fun to watch it live, the build-up, and the tension add to the experience so much.
