I use a bento lunch box. I make it the night before, put it into the fridge and by lunch time it's perfect. I pack a lot of fruit and veggies, strawberries, blueberries, raspberries. Snap peas, cucumber, carrots, broccoli. Sometimes I do lettuce wraps, just lettuce wrapped around turkey. Sometimes I do chips and salsa, salads... If you want fresh cooked food. I use a thermos, I cook batches of spaghetti, chili, soups etc...just heat in the morning and the thermos keeps it hot. We usually do that in the winter. Drinks I only buy 100% juice. You'll get the hang of it hun!! I been packing lunch for 15+ years. I've tried it all!! 😄 And it's perfectly OK to cry, it's a big moment for all of you!! My mom had to make me leave my kids on their first day, I bawled my eyes out, and still get emotional every year. My recommendation if you want to make him something is to make it the night before and in the morning heat it up. Then put it in a thermos if you have one. That’s what my sister usually does if she wants something that we had for dinner the night before.

Hope Leon has the best day tomarrow. My son is on the spectrum and when he was 2 was in the infant n toddler program at a special needs school. An idea that was wonderful for us was the teacher and I wrote in a notebook everyday and we sent it back and forth everyday. So that way I knew how his day went at school and the teacher knew how his nite went at home. Tears are normal momma. Hav a good nite guys 🌛
I always packed my sons lunch at night, and usually gave him what we had for dinner. They have microwaves at school to heat them up. I worked at a school for disabled kids and it is wonderful what they do for the kids and how well they are taken care of. The one I worked at also provided hot lunches as well. Jody, the first few days are very emotional, it is perfectly normal. You are doing fine and will be awesome as you always are. Leon will adapt before you know it. Everything you packed for him is perfect. They have lockers and can keep his extra set of clothes, and any supplies you send with him. Anything medical will be kept at the nurses station. Also buy wide mouth thermos for your hot breakfast/lunch that you can heat up last minute in the microwave in the morning (like the ravioli). For cold lunches, do a couple yogurt cups or diced cheese and a few crackers instead of bread. Other things easy to eat are, tuna salad, egg salad, even jelly sandwiches. But really, I would ask the Paraprofessionals/aides there for ideas. They do lunches all the time. They will know. Y'all got this... it just takes time to get a routine down 😁👍

In Walmart where all the juices are they have organic regular and chocolate milk that are the same size as yuhoo's. And they don't need to be refrigerated.

Been packing lunches for 10 years now, so much easier to get it ready the night before. I always make sure there is at least 1 fruit and 1 vege every day. Carrot sticks, fresh strawberries, grapes, celery sticks, cherry tomatoes... just a few suggestions. Sandwiches are easy, just don't forget the ice pack. Crackers and pepperoni with string cheese. Pudding. Yogurt. Have fun!
i would make the chicken and cheese in the morning so it’s fresh and put it in a thermos if needed :) then i’d put the tortilla on the side but even if you pack him left overs it’s nice to heat it in the morning and keep the food in a little thermos ❤️ love watching your channel so much it’s beautiful watching Leon & Theo grow. y’all are seriously amazing parents and every time i see you, Jodi with Leon it makes me so happy he has you as his momma. you’re so patient and kind.

Wow I can even conceive of packing a school lunch at this point in time. Back in the day, I got a sandwich, a fruit and two cookies. Everyday for years. Most of the specially packaged stuff wasn't available when my boys went to school. This is where you get a chance to make friends with the other mothers to find out how they handle lunches depending on the needs of their child. Makes me wonder if all those meals times are to give them more opportunity to help the kids learn to feed themselves? I bet today was rough on you two as you have always had him at home. My special needs kiddo got into a school program at 19months, so by the time he would have had his normal first day of school, he had been going for what seemed like forever! I'm excited to see how he does.

Nestle Quick does sell chocolate milk in bottles. Have as much of his lunch packed the night before does help. Also a time saver is having his clothes picked out the night before. You never know what the morning is going to bring. Do as much as you can do does help. Pinterest also gives a lot of good ideas for lunches. Favorites are mini pancake bites and mini tacos.
Breakfast sandwich: hamburger bun in toaster, fried egg on top with slice cheese. Wrap in paper towel and put in sandwich container. Oatmeal with milk-if enough milk will be like a shake-easy to drink/eat. Any fresh fruit or check out school lunches. Let teachers and teacher helpers know about his eating abilities-soft foods? I would love to work with Leon. He us such a gappy kid. Breath-you got this.
Maybe you can buy a small container for liquids. Buy regular size milk/chocolate milk and just pour a daily serving into it the container and pack it in Leon's lunch. Consider breakfast bars/cereal bars/granola bars etc. as a snack or even part of a meal. When you make dinner every night, set aside a portion for Leon's lunch next the day. Might want to also label Leon's glasses and hearing aide, just in case he's separated from them and the staff finds them outside or in the school, they will know right away who they belong to. Write Leon's name on the tags of his clothing too. In case he ever changes clothes at school, they'll know who the clothes belong to. Label his walker, wheel chair, ace bandages etc.
Get a really good thermos for Leon! Then you can just heat up whatever you cook for him in the microwave in the morning and it will stay hot in the thermos until morning! And no! I want to see Leon's first day and how it went! Don't make us wait! Lol
You could always make a egg Mayo sandwich and cut it into pieces the night before and keep it in the fridge. Or any sandwich that he loves. Or a home made veg quiche and chop it up so he can easily eat it. He will have such fun there
They do have shelf stable milk in the same little cardboard juice boxes that is organic. ( and non-organic ) definitely available on Amazon there's a few different brands! Worked with kids long enough to be certain of this! ❤
You can pack lunchables they have ones with a small sandwich and a capri sun drink and you can order horizon shelf sustainable milk there are usually 12 ...8 oz boxes in each big box and you can get baby carrots and already sliced celery and get to go cups of fruit and peanut butter just some ideas
Fix extra for supper then pack leftovers for his lunch, that’s what I did for my husbands lunch....good food, people don’t mind eating twice. Then add fruit cups etc in lunchbox.
I think it's best to do it the night before, so you don't have to rush in the morning to make it. If you cooked the food, do they a microwave to heat it up. If that you can make bite size sandwiches like ham and cheese pinwheels. Can't wait to see how Leon's first day of school goes
You could also try chicken salad, egg salad, macaroni salad, pasta salad, etc. I make chicken salad in the chopper so it's easy for my toddler to chew. Chicken, celery, and a little onion all get chopped. If he has trouble eating sandwiches, just give some egg salad and crackers. I hope this helps.

You can cook it at night. And ask his teacher to heat it up for him. I used to do this ask a teacher to heat my stuff up for me when I went to school.

Nestle Quick does sell chocolate milk in bottles. Have as much of his lunch packed the night before does help. Also a time saver is having his clothes picked out the night before. You never know what the morning is going to bring. Do as much as you can do does help. Pinterest also gives a lot of good ideas for lunches. Favorites are mini pancake bites and mini tacos.
Breakfast sandwich: hamburger bun in toaster, fried egg on top with slice cheese. Wrap in paper towel and put in sandwich container. Oatmeal with milk-if enough milk will be like a shake-easy to drink/eat. Any fresh fruit or check out school lunches. Let teachers and teacher helpers know about his eating abilities-soft foods? I would love to work with Leon. He us such a gappy kid. Breath-you got this.

Have you watched “Fathering Autism”, they often share the packing of their daughters lunch. Many are leftovers from their home cooked meals.
They do have milk in a carton that doesn't require refrigeration. Check Walmart, Amazon, Costco. Horizon is one brand. Shelf stable milk.
Maybe you can buy a small container for liquids. Buy regular size milk/chocolate milk and just pour a daily serving into it the container and pack it in Leon's lunch. Consider breakfast bars/cereal bars/granola bars etc. as a snack or even part of a meal. When you make dinner every night, set aside a portion for Leon's lunch next the day. Might want to also label Leon's glasses and hearing aide, just in case he's separated from them and the staff finds them outside or in the school, they will know right away who they belong to. Write Leon's name on the tags of his clothing too. In case he ever changes clothes at school, they'll know who the clothes belong to. Label his walker, wheel chair, ace bandages etc.
Get a really good thermos for Leon! Then you can just heat up whatever you cook for him in the microwave in the morning and it will stay hot in the thermos until morning! And no! I want to see Leon's first day and how it went! Don't make us wait! Lol

You could always make a egg Mayo sandwich and cut it into pieces the night before and keep it in the fridge. Or any sandwich that he loves. Or a home made veg quiche and chop it up so he can easily eat it. He will have such fun there
If you make something homemade which you should, put in a thermous and warm it up so it stays warm.

They do have shelf stable milk in the same little cardboard juice boxes that is organic. ( and non-organic ) definitely available on Amazon there's a few different brands! Worked with kids long enough to be certain of this! ❤

You can pack lunchables they have ones with a small sandwich and a capri sun drink and you can order horizon shelf sustainable milk there are usually 12 ...8 oz boxes in each big box and you can get baby carrots and already sliced celery and get to go cups of fruit and peanut butter just some ideas

Fix extra for supper then pack leftovers for his lunch, that’s what I did for my husbands lunch....good food, people don’t mind eating twice. Then add fruit cups etc in lunchbox.
I think it's best to do it the night before, so you don't have to rush in the morning to make it. If you cooked the food, do they a microwave to heat it up. If that you can make bite size sandwiches like ham and cheese pinwheels. Can't wait to see how Leon's first day of school goes
You could also try chicken salad, egg salad, macaroni salad, pasta salad, etc. I make chicken salad in the chopper so it's easy for my toddler to chew. Chicken, celery, and a little onion all get chopped. If he has trouble eating sandwiches, just give some egg salad and crackers. I hope this helps.
Also my little one has no trouble eating cooked veggies cold especially carrots, peas, and corn.
