In folklore thorkell was so big and tall that no horse could carry him and that he was so strong that he would use wood logs and throw rocks. There lots of saga and folklore about thorkell and trust me most of them are crazy xD

The "onion soup" line with the wounded was a real technique. Warriors with abdominal wounds would drink the soup, and if the medic could smell the onions through their wound, they knew the injury was likely too severe to treat.
That's actually a pretty clever technique.

Thorfinn calling Thorkell insane for enjoying combat was always funny to me in a tragic way because he should realize that this make him the madman, not Thorkell. What I mean by this is that Thorkell loves to fight so he fight. Thorfinn hates to fight yet he fight. Just like his father, Thorfinn hates to fight and kill people yet thats all he does in his life and he does it just to get a chance to fight and kill one specific person. So which one really sounds like a madman here?
Both of them of course killing people insanely are considered madman even Thorkell wanted WAR AND WAR AND WAR and Killing for Thorfinn he doesnt want to fight but kills the people anyway and character development at season 2 of him was insane

The most insane thing is that Thorkell the Tall actually existed. Most of the characters in Vinland Saga are based on real people.
Yes Thorfinn, Thors, Prince Canute, etc were Real and some of the stuff actually happnedsd but other than that they’re just stretching things and I’m not mad lol the shows good asf

@@growlithekid1 Thors is based on a real person, too, however not much is known about the historical Thors except for being the father of Thorfinn, his name was actually "Thord Horsehead" (Þórðr hesthöfði), the Norse name is translated into Japanese as トールズ(To-ruzu), then translated into English as Thors.
I love Thorkell, he's really one of the best characters in the show, even in the manga. He's a true warrior, not in the same way that Thors was and Thorfinn is later in the manga but he deserves all the respect. He may look dumb but there's a lot more going on in his head than you may think by looking at his attitude and his actions. And i love how although he's a literal monsters, he still give credits and respect to those who deserve it. He always have an idea behind his actions, it may seem crazy but it fits him because of how much he defies the laws of reality.

Thorkell is easily more likeable than Askeladd, it's hard not to love the physical representation of a Viking in a show about Vikings, who is always smiling and enjoying stuff. He's so over the top and became basically a meme in the Manga lol.
Askeladd is still somewhat likeable, but definitely became less likeable after Ep 14 and 15

Also plenty ppl like him i see more in comment sections i be on to watch the anime also my House and friends like him minus one person so he is likable its prolly a few who hate him on a personal level for each of his actions that despise him. The Jomsvikings were introduced as a problem but they have proceeded to do absolutely nothing and Floki is biggest of bitches.
I think what I liked most about this episode was that last scene, it really showcases and reminds you that Thorfinn is still just a kid who doesn't like fighting at all and is only fighting for one reason, revenge. Great reaction to this episode.

fun fact one of the reason the REAL throkell fought for the english is at one point he took a bishop hostage, but one night in a place called greenwhich, his men murdered the bishop, after the bishop refused to be ransomed, thorkell did his best to stop his men from murdering the bishop, but he failed, he took the body back to england and changed sides, mind you i got this from wikipedia so who knows how accurate it is, but wiki tends to be more accurate than not on these subjects due to their lack of popularity, so it could be accurate

Yeah, Thorkell the Tall was real: he was so big that no horse could carry him... still, I doubt that an actual person would be able to lift such boulders and logs but viking sagas tend to exaggerate a lot of aspects about their warriors, so on that regard Vinland Saga remains accurate to it's source material.

I don't think 10 years has passed...Throfinn is 16? no...im sure his younger no? given his build his probably 14ish. because 16 are usually considered fully grown in the old days and they can have kids.
