And traveler going and think it to be west but in actual he was going toward South

acuallly your way of thinking is wrong ,he was moving in wrong direction thinking it's west so the pointer is like that (E=S,N=E,W=N,S=W) now he doesn't know that the pointer has an error so he was going in the direction where the pointer is showing W which is actually S ,ans will be South
