Thanks so much for this information! I leaned a little about stick welding in college art class, but I want to pursue welding further both for art and possibly for repair for profit. There is something immensely satifying about learning new things always, even at 60 years young.
Great video man. Thanks for not making it an hour-long and getting right to the point. There wasn't too much information but there was just enough to learn the basics. Everything you said was on point with what my instructor taught me and my welding class.
I'm taking my "B Class" assessment for my industrial maintenance certification today and this really helped me understand some things. I have no experience but this was enough to give me a start. Thanks man ! I greatly appreciate it 🙂
Thank you for being quick and to the point instead of assuming the viewer is dumb. If someone thinks it's safe to touch hot metal or create a short circuit on purpose, they should be as far as possible of any electric or sharp tool.
I'm a new welder I love how you explain the how-to of welding basics thank you very much for your site it does help a lot Matt Indio CA I miss the Golden State
This is one of the best videos that I've run across for the novice welder. Or us old guys that have forgotten a lot over the years. I myself have a Lincoln AC Buzz Box that I've had for 40 years. It's still like new and works that way. I also have a Century built "Quick Fix" mig welder that's almost as old but I'm going to upgrade to a Hobart 210 mvp this year. All I'm saying is that your video was informative and it put things out there in a way that people can understand. Great job. 👍
Really helpful video for me. I did very well in high school welding but it's been too many years... Just getting back into it and excited to learn the tricks of the trade.
Thanks again for your great instruction. You've taken me through the Titanium Flux 125 and now into the Titanium 225 stick welder. Whenever I am watching your videos my wife always asks me, "Is that Mr. Blue eyes"? Ron
I tend to go a while between welding projects so your videos serve as a great review. Plus, I’m curious if you have a separate shed to house all your welders you’ve collected? Harbor Freight employees must cheer when they see you pull up!😁
Haha, no special shed but I did just add more shelving in the garage. I do go through phases a lot and every once an a while will sell the ones I haven't used for awhile.
Just found your channel I’ll definitely be going back and watching all the videos. I do a little bit of welding here and there I just picked up a new titanium unlimited 200. I could definitely use a new helmet!
I lauged and looked away when u said “or you can go straight out, Which nobody really does.” At the thoughtof the welder i help stabbing away at a U beam support up under the baffles of a crystallizer 😂
What if your welder has no amp dial, my late father’s welder is old from the 90s and only has a 2mm and 3.2mm dial option and only turns on when you put the plug into the socket
I was wondering...Is there a pattern or do I simply drag the stick? When I had my mig I would do cursive e's, crescents or whatever I thought was best given the situation. I regret selling my Lincoln.
what about turning off the circuit without turning off the machine? like once you have laid a bead down and you want to put the stick down to look closer?
A good rule of thumb is to run the same thickness of material x 1000. So if you have 1/8" which is 0.125 then times that by 1000 and you should run at 125 amps. Obviously give or take depending on rods.
Thanks for all the valuable information, HOWEVER, beginners would like to know how to be SAFE when welding, and not go blind or electrocute themselves. Nothing here about safety except a joke about something to NEVER DO (looping circuit on electrode- hope nobody does that)
Those people should not be learning anything from youtube before graduating kindergarten. I'm a begginer and I appreciate that the video is short and it doesn't go on forever on stating the obvious. Really, if you need to be told to be careful around high voltage, please get away from any dangerous tool.

Thanks for the informative video. I'm new to stick welding and still learning..
Thanks for the feedback!
With your permission I'll copy your rounded welding table. I love it!!
Go for it!
Just found your channel I’ll definitely be going back and watching all the videos. I do a little bit of welding here and there I just picked up a new titanium unlimited 200. I could definitely use a new helmet!
Right on, I like the 200. That is a great welder.
This is very informative and helps tie more info for the yeswelder.
Glad to hear it!
Sweet, I love it when the 1st video I watch tells me exactly what I needed to know. Thank you. Liked & subbed
Awesome, thank you!
Looking forward to seeing more welding tips and tricks.
Thanks, I'll keep them coming.
Thanks for the video. Just bought a flux core welder but a stick welder is next. 👍
Right on, thanks!
Love your videos! Keep up the great work, thank you!
Awesome, thanks!
Really, really awesome and useful video! ❤ Going to watch the update video now. Thank you!
Great video, been thinking about getting into learning how to stick weld
Thanks!
I attempted to weld a hinge that snapped off today with an old car battery didn’t go too well but this video definitely helped
At least you were resourceful!
Thanks for all the great videos! Super helpful starting out!
Also, kudos on the edits; love the little jokes you add in. :)
Thanks!
and thanks again!!
Nice work straight to the point 👍
Thanks!
Really great straight forward video.
Right on, thanks.
Thanks for watching!
Awesome video for a noob like me! Thanks for posting! 😎
Right on, thanks!
Thank you this is very helpful, I’m a bit of a newbie, is there a Rod number for different thicknesses of steel
This helped me out bunches. Thanks for helping tips 😀
Right on!
Great video! I'm going to go practice on a piece of steel. Thanks
Great tutorial. Thanks. And yeah - I won't grab the stick with the ground clamp, or "grab a little fire." 🤠 Liked and subscribed.
Awesome, thank you!
Thanks for the video - it was informative.
Glad it was helpful!
I lauged and looked away when u said “or you can go straight out, Which nobody really does.” At the thoughtof the welder i help stabbing away at a U beam support up under the baffles of a crystallizer 😂
With his stinger looking like a 6010 lightsaber 🤣
What if your welder has no amp dial, my late father’s welder is old from the 90s and only has a 2mm and 3.2mm dial option and only turns on when you put the plug into the socket
I guess stick some rods in it and first see if you get a spark. If so then you'll be adjusting the weld by your speed.
@@-DIYPRO-the welder I got doesn’t have a speed adjuster either, it’s a cigweld compact 2
I think this was a really good video. Ty
Thanks!
Here is a better one I just finished up: th-cam.com/video/hAF96uyd5dE/w-d-xo.html
Nice video sir !! Appreciate your time
Right on, thanks!
Relearning how to stick weld I went to school for it 20 years ago but im thinking it would be sorta like the riding a bike.
It will come back quick to you! I started out stick welding as well.
Excellent presentation!

Thanks mate!
I was wondering...Is there a pattern or do I simply drag the stick? When I had my mig I would do cursive e's, crescents or whatever I thought was best given the situation. I regret selling my Lincoln.
You can can do either. Most the time for thin stuff you will just drag, thicker and wider welds will require a back and forth manipulation.
@@-DIYPRO- Thanks. I appreciate.
Great Video! new subscriber after watching just a couple of your videos.
Awesome! Thank you!
I have a dc stick welder 140 what would ppl recommend as the right setting to have it at
Just buy a welder never weld in my life but going to try thank for the vider
The clamp technique to clean the flux 😂😂😂
I enjoyed your video and learned alot. Thank you
Does the grounding cable need to be clamped to a piece of metal that is touching the workpiece?
Yes, you need that path of electricity.
@@-DIYPRO- Ok great thank you.
Thanks for great information
Thanks!
That's for the info! 👍
Right on!
what about turning off the circuit without turning off the machine? like once you have laid a bead down and you want to put the stick down to look closer?
thanks for the tips👍
Thanks!
I love Banana splits and welding! And good content.
Right on, thanks!
Thanks, that was really clear for my novis self :)
Glad it helped!
Great explanation ❤ thanks
Why can't you just cut off the tip with a plier if the metal has tunneled under the flux-coating?
Yep that would work too.
Great video thanks for sharing
How do you know how much current is needed?
A good rule of thumb is to run the same thickness of material x 1000. So if you have 1/8" which is 0.125 then times that by 1000 and you should run at 125 amps. Obviously give or take depending on rods.
thanks again good video helps
No problem 👍
i really like your video, thank you
Simply Great. !!!
Great video here goes 500th like
Thanks!

Love the video
Awesome, thanks!
💯 TY!
Anytime!
I had pancakes for breakfast, well, someone had to say it. Like your videos.
Extra points for being the first to say it!
Nice info
Thanks!
I like your video ❤❤❤
Right on!
Helpful
Thank
Now all I think about is grabbing the rod with the ground clamp
You learn after doing it once!
I am a welder in the US Navy
Right on!
Thank you for that information
What happened to our review??
Did I forget something, What review?
Seems simpler than flux core welding.
Once you get the technique of feeding the rod it's pretty easy.
@@-DIYPRO- but I do like my gun. And I don't have to switch wire all that often.
Thanks for the informative DIY how to videos, put me in the giveaway!
Thanks, you got it!
I also prefer 7018.
Nice!
You could put the welding rod straight out, but nobody does… oh my I’m unique xD
What is.. what is it, please help me?!?
Thanks for all the valuable information, HOWEVER, beginners would like to know how to be SAFE when welding, and not go blind or electrocute themselves. Nothing here about safety except a joke about something to NEVER DO (looping circuit on electrode- hope nobody does that)
Gotten a few zaps before 😂 not that fun in my opinion

That works!
Boutta built a pulsejet engine
I have a SIP 140 welder and I would like to work with it with a little help from the people from you tube 😅😅😅😅😅😅😅😊
Instructions unclear, welded stick to the ground clamp.
Hot Tamales!
I love tamales........especially for breakfast!
@@-DIYPRO- YESSS! Best time to eat them😃
Dude to be real, it says for beginners but the first 30 seconds of what you're saying is all technical med school jargon, ☹️
Guess who has access to google? You do. Look up what the terms mean.
I didn't hear any medical jargon at all
🍨
Yum
I could use a new helmet.
I'll put in an extra vote for you!
sometimes your humor isn't funny.
I would suggest NOT watching any of my other videos!
Talks too much! Never shows himself actually welding anything 👎. Gloves and a Welding helmet are optional? You need to be fired. 😤
It was just a joke!
Trying to teach myself to weld with a stick welder but I'm just learning with videos and I'm scared as crap that I'm going to electrocute myself
Great video. Very helpful. Thank You.
Right on, glad it was helpful!
thanks for great tips!
Thank you!
Thanks for the videos
