I met this couple while they were docked in Lockport. I just bought my first boat and we discussed how he bought his first boat and the next one was larger than the first one until the one he has now. Very nice people and friendly dogs.
I love the Erie Canal! When I retire next year I plan to do the canal all the way to the Hudson River. It looks like an awesome place to boat and enjoy the scenery.

Cruising through the canal and other waterways in the northeast, you might find the book "River Horse," by William Least Heat Moon, of interest.
I keep hearing about 15 ft bridges yet I see a number of fly bridge boats. Are the under 15 ft?
