    Thanks, in the middle of trying to figure out why my 076 av isn’t putting out much oil, this helped big time.

    Good job. Love how you go step by step (with close ups!), but keep the ball rolling. And you didn't lean over and block the camera once! LOL
    Keep up the good work.

    Thanks! That video will save me a few hours and lots of headaches. I have an 056AV but it's the same assembly.

    Love the rope in cylinder idea, will put it to use! My Stihl 031 has an aluminum chain stopper for when the chain comes off. I wonder if all the cutting seen on yours in the oil pump cover and under the chain bar on the case is because that's not there. You might want to add one, as it doesn't look like that cover has much more material to cut!

    Thanks for the video! I have an 031AV, but mine has a different clutch on it. It's leaking oil, so I guess I'll have to tear into it and see. Thanks again!

    Hey, any chance you have any more 031 AV videos coming soon? I have two in my shop, but neither run. I want to take the rubber boot from the one and throw it on the other, but need instruction on that process. TH-cam has yet to have a video of this... wanna be the first? thanks again for your help!

    Yea, I believe it is. The guy at the stihl dealership said mine needed replacing. Of course they don't make them anymore and cost 26 bucks or so. I said no thanks. Haha

      I do have an 031 down stairs, I'll try to put a video together this weekend. You should be able to pick a boot up on eBay for about $5.00.

      +LonnieJohnson1 I own a 31 AV I bought it as my memory services me back in 1977 the only thing that ever happened to it is the little plastic hose to the Carburetor hardened and split and I had to replace it, total cost about .50 cent's. Since 1977 it still run's like new and I haven't ever had to buy or own another saw since I bought it back in 77. I've always used Stihl oil for the gasoline mix and put a little bit of Kerosene in the chain oil to keep the bar clean and have never had the oil feed clog up on me. 38 years and still running strong. Even though it doesn't get used much any more I fire it up from time to time to make sure it's still stay's in it's prime.

      If its cold out it wont get pulled through the filter. Bar oil is thinner and sticky and sticks to the chain. I would empty and flush the oil out and clean and check the filter then find some thin oil or bar oil and see if it works.

    I may have missed it in the video but I did not see the thrust washer (1113 162 8903)that goes on the shaft before the plastic spur gear (1113 647 1802) wolf

    • @LonnieJohnson1
      @LonnieJohnson1  8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      +wolfbley As you can see in the video there was no washer behind the gear and it did not show a washer of any kind to be installed behind the gear on this model. Thanks for the info because some saws will have a washer.

      Lonnie, I watched this to see about the 'thrust' washer between crank bearing and gear. My 031AV didn't have one either but one is shown in parts diagram. Thanks for the video. I'll use a little grease in gear as old one had got hot and melted a bit where it contacts shaft. Grease on bearing too I reckon. Thanks again mate.
