Thank you so much for this detailed look at hiking with the Instinct 2! I've never had a Garmin and I've seen other people comment on how complex the different modes can be to set up. You explain relevant features very well. I'm planning some multi-day hikes in the coming year and pretty much every review of the Instinct 2 seems to be based on runners. You have given me the final nudge to go ahead and get the Instinct 2 and I plan on looking at your other videos to learn more about how to set it up and use it 😊
Thank you so much for taking the time to leave such a kind comment. You are the reason I love making these videos, and I really appreciate you. I'm glad you will be joining the Instinct 2 community! Please let me know if there are any topics that I can make a video on to help. Happy Thanksgiving!
@CoastieOutdoors great offer, thanks 😊 I'm watching your other I2 videos at the mo to learn the basics BUT I definitely feel like there's a lot to learn about the mapping/trail stuff so watch this space 😁
Hi Okledok, wow thank you for letting me know! I am sure you will love the Instinct 2. Please let me know if there are any features you would like me to go over. I hope you have a Happy New Year!
I got my Instinct 2X at the end of December...it's a great watch for my walks, hikes, and daily healthy/sleep monitoring. Even though I've had it for a few months, I still managed to learn a few things from your video. Nice job and keep up the great work!
Good morning Sir! This was a great review and breakdown of the device! Like others have said, you do a solid job of getting into the details on things! So, for someone wanting to get into the GPS world, would you say this is a good one for a newby? Or would you suggest something else? Thanks and take care!!!
I have the instinct 2x i love it, I do have a question though when i go for hikes i have use a 40lb ruck is there anywhere i can add or some feature to enable it so it knows to add the extra weight im carrying on my hikes?
Hi Craig, I apologize for the delay getting back to you and thank you for the awesome question. I did a little research and did not find exactly a way to add the pack weight per se. If I were you though, I would utilize the "gear" section that you can add to a hike. For example I add my hiking boots as "gear" during my hiking activity by default so I can track how many miles I have put on them. This could also be used to indicate your 40lb ruck. Let me know if you end up going that way. I hope you have a Happy New Year!
@@CoastieOutdoors no problem what I was able to find out is it’s based on heart rate the more weight you have the harder your working so heart rate goes up makes sense and I checked a few hikes with and without a ruck and there is a considerable difference in heart rate and calories etc burned. There isn’t a place to really add like a 40lb ruck and happy new year to you
If I’m doing a multi day backpack trip without internet access, if I save my daily hike, will the each individual hike show up in the app when I reconnect to cell coverage?

Yes they will
If I’m doing a thru hike without internet access, can I save my hike details daily and it will sync to my connect app when I get internet again?
Still worth to buy in 2025?
