- About our guest Dr. Methil Devika:
Dr. Methil Devika is an Indian classical dancer (Mohiniyattam and Kuchipudi), teacher, and researcher. She won two national awards (Ustad Bismillah Yuva Puraskar for Mohiniyattam 2007 and the Devadasi Award from the Minister of Orissa in 2010. She received the state honours Kshetrakala Akademy Award 2020 and the Kerala Sangeeta Nataka Akademy Award 2011.
In 2018, Dr. Devika created the short film documentary Sarpatatwam or The Serpent Wisdom. She set the lyrics to music, choreographed and performed the dance, also serving as co-director and co-producer. The film was voted into the contention list of the Oscars in 2018.Her recent work Ahalya which was commissioned by Sampradaya Dance Company also opened to world premiere in May 2021. It was based on reflections in solitude done during Covid lockdown and the music and dance being composed by herself.
In this video Dr. Methil Devika talks about the challenges that she faces as a creator and an Artist. How she continues to work on her art and her compositions. The perception that people carry of her and how she is unaffected by any of that. She shares the pain of having her second marriage to Mukesh break up and how this has changed her understanding of relationships. She talks about how important it is for every woman to be working, self-reliant and financially independent. She talks about the ways in which she has dealt with media and other who wanted to know about this much publicized divorce proceedings.

Watching again in my lowest of lowest moment at this time of dawn.. searched n watched intentionally.. going through separation myself n not finding even a minute strand of light, hearing these words bring a little strength n inspiration n hope to believe that there could be a ray of hope for a future.. depression, undiagnosed adhd till now, ptsd n lot jus holding me down under the water,, n this was like a sudden breathe of air, to even hope for an unknown better future.. like told, at times old is gold, also me too having that truce to clear with God.. anyway just searched for this at this hour was like a real breathe of air,, thank you so much Dhanya for this great episode.. n ur very empathetic responses were also so comforting not only for the guest but for all those who r going through such tough phases in life❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️

She is a blessed and an artist unparalleled. She is endowed with everything --beauty, intelligence, academic brilliance, artistic brilliance, fame and money. But, in everybody's life there would be instances of sorrow and tears. She went through traumatic experiences in her family life. She should have been very cautious and prudent in selecting her life partners especially the second one. I wonder how she bite the second bait.
But initially I thought she married mukesh to have the fame and it does add to her fame and boosted her career

I saw in 1 interview, it was a proposal from his side, which she accepted after a certain tym. And no1 reveals their true face while in a honeymoon phase of relation. Bcoz in very few months afrer dating they got married & in other few yrs divorce. Looks like it was wrong selection & like they didnt get to know each other well before marriage. Evn I thought many tyms y is this beautiful educated women marrying him.

It's really flowing like a river.. nice conversation. I have seen some comments saying talk in Malayalam. This is my view- English is a global language , even if we don't it will come into our mouth if we are brought up in that way. So just accept the way she is and enjoy the show.
