The only thing I wonder is this influenced by Christianity in using the Serpent as their symbol for Evil.

Druidism is older than Christianity most pagan religions predate Christianity

@@nrop000 but many ancient religions depict the serpent as good because it symbolizes the kundalini energy in the spine. how do you know when the serpent is good or bad?

    • @cavalcade117

@@happierabroad Honestly I would think it depends on the region and their experience with snakes. I can’t speak as an expert on views from Europe, but I can from my tribe in North America.
Where my family is from in Canada, there are no poisonous snakes, so our interpretation of them wasn’t negative. They’re actually considered very spiritually close to worms and have pretty strong positive connotations with water.
But I would imagine that places with venomous snakes might look at them very differently. There’s actually a negative association with rattles in a few Canadian tribes, and it may be because their southern neighbors told them about the dangers of rattle snakes. I think the Navajo even consider it bad luck to look at snakes.
So yeah, that may not apply here I’m honestly not sure. But its interesting to think about.

I think maybe the serpent can be depicted in different ways, depending on what it is. Maybe Christianity brought the serpent is evil outright. And maybe we can depict the serpent as a healer and a Hammer. They are wild and of the earth like the elementals so maybe one snake can heal. Once Nick can kill and others do many things. This definitely sounds to me like it has Christian influence. But it would be interesting to know more about the snakes place in Celtic healing. I’ve heard that Crom is an ancient serpent/dragon and his worship was demonized with Christianity, but he used to be a very powerful entity that was powerful for good, and for evil, depending on if he was pleased
