ladies i have a question! What's your opinion on WHEN to work out on gig day or in coordination with rehearsal? For example, I personally don't like doing core work within an hour or two of a gig because I can't relax my breathing afterwards. Any advice or input? Loved this vid btw
Hannah A. Brady The time to workout on gig day, in my opinion depends on what kind of show we're about to perform, whether you're doing a lot of movement or just singing in place behind the mic stand. I generally keep my daily routine consistent, and work out in the morning, so that all the hard work is done. This gives me lots of time to hydrate and stretch later in the day before the show. I generally try to focus on being as relaxed as possible pre-show, so if you have a soundcheck or rehearsal on show day, maybe 30-60 mins before show do some appropriate stretching, yoga, or even light cardio pre or post soundcheck. Core is fine to do show day, and actually find it helpful for stabilizing my breathing for the show, but you do have to allow for the muscles to relax. If you need a few hours for that to happen, then work out earlier in the day, and you core will be relaxed and not tense when you need to breathe and move about on stage. Cheers Denosh.
