no idea what the radio is....just an old clunker I keep on the boat radio 4 is a gift - could not imagine life without it - especially as I work for them. Next DVDs in time for Christmas
Thanks very much Dylan. The whole video was magic but the part I liked the best was where the Duck Punt was sailing through water with vegetation showing on the surface of the water indicating that the depth was only inches. No other sailing craft can go where the DP goes.
they are remarkable boats - been a sailor for half a century and never had a boat that delivers so many bangs for the buck. They sail so well for such a seemingly crude vessel.
What a lucky man you are! I have long wanted to explore those marshes by boat as you have done. We share a love of that coast and its great that you have explained the processes of nature as so many just look and don't see or don't appreciate perhaps. I have walked that coast many times it is so diverse and there is always something new to see as it changes from mile to mile. Very good video thanks for sharing.
Perhaps a Canadian canoe would be better for me as I can better use it inland on canals and rivers, I have actually seen sail kits for them but don't know how effective they are.
Just returned from pumping out the rain water and eyeing the stormy weather to find your film. Perfect! Inspiring! And scary! There be monsters in them there marshes and there seems to be a distinct lack of sign posts!
One of your best videos Dylan, it amazes me how your candle video gets a million views and ones like this one get so much less. Thanks for making and sharing. I have a PDR playlist and added this to it. The PDR has its place, but more small boat fans should know about the duck punt.
I thoroughly enjoyed this video. A welcome contrast to what we have here in the southern U.S. What is the tidal range in that area? Amazing that you were able to negotiate that strong currrent. Again, thanks!
This is very quirky dinghy cruise, and inspiring. I'm glad I kept going because at the end, there is a delightful backwards boatbuilding (!) sequence. This part should be a video clip by itself.
What's the radio you've got there Dylan? I would like to find a something to replace my £10 transitor! Like you, I find radio 4 a good friend when spending weekends on the boat. Great piece of film making by the way. When are you bringing out another set of CDs?
Film looks perfectly fine on my 22" computer monitor to me, I don't own a TV (or have any desire to). Are you planning any more jaunts in the duck punt?
+Robert Hickman next winter the boat will be in scotland and I will be in the south so the only boat I will have to saiil is the duck punt through next winter
I`ve been wanting to do this trip for ages in my canoe - it is an old indian style open one but made of grp and quite heavy do you think it would be suitable - it would draw more water than your duck punt?

I built a duck punt because of your Videos, I'm enjoing it so far!
I did enjoy the duck punt - very easy to build - bit harder to sail but a real treat
@@KeepTurningLeft Yes, I think I'm pretty experienced but the Punt takes all my knowledge to get it going where I want it to go! Do you still have it?
Amazing journey. I'm not surprised you got lost now and again in those marshes.

there are days when I am jealous of myself - it is a lovely polace to sail. Build duck punt and off you go.

Revisited after many years, one of dylans finest..
Brilliant love the building of the boat!
