Think of it this way, you want to remodel your kitchen for $20,000.00, you tell the bank that you think the house is worth $100,000.00 and the bank says it is only worth $80,000.00 although they give you the loan for $20,000.00. You remodel your kitchen and pay back the loan. 5 years later the government says that you overvalued your house to the bank and now you owe $30,000.00 (the original 20,000.00 and 10,000.00 fine/they have cover the court costs and make a profit). If they can do it to a former President, are you safe?
Except in this case the bank sent an inspector to look at the property and bought all the materials to do the job for you too.

The fact that no one went after the bank at all speaks the loudest to this being a kangaroo court. Their appraisers and risk management would have to be in on anything criminal since they set the value of the property themselves, but the bank has been completely ignored.

The bank didn't commit a crime. The bank employees who approved the loans without proper diligence have been dismissed. And actually, it's the county assessor's job to determin property value - which is where that $18M valuation of Mag-a-Lardo came from...the judge merely cited that number.
Who is Trump supposed to pay? There is no victim, so who? Fani? If he has to pay the banks, can they give it right back since he doesn't owe them? So confusing.

Trump applied for a loan, presented his collateral and his valuation of it to the bank. The Bank (who, by the way, have their own appraisers) accepted these figures, presented their own, both parties reached an agreement and the loan was issued. The loan was paid off on time, the interest was paid off on time, the transaction was completed to everyone involveds satisfaction. WHERE IS THE CRIME?? It is in the Office of the District Attorney of the State of New York. It also sits on the bench. Engoron stated before the trial began that Trump was guilty. The only thing the trial was for was to determine "how guilty". What a fantastic judicial example.

I want that judge to come to my real estate sale closing to convince the seller he should sell to me for the value assessed by the local tax assessor! 😃
But Trump wasn’t selling any property. He was obtaining preferential loan rates by massively overvaluing his properties and at the same time was hugely undervaluing the same properties to the tax authorities to pay less tax.
The fact that the banks failed to do their own appraisals and the fact that Trump repaid the loans is legally irrelevant.
By homes in Newyork and then sue the sellers for selling for more than the tax valuation...

There's your apples-to-apples comparison -- not comparing Mar-a-Lago to what similar-sized properties would be worth ON AVERAGE across the United States. If you build a mansion on a nice piece of ground in suburban St. Louis, Missouri or La Junta, Colorado, it isn't value-comparable to an otherwise identical mansion in Palm Beach, Florida.

The novel approach from this "judge" opens the possibility that every time the state is short on cash, they can sue any entrepreneur in similar situation and make them pay extra, even if there was no crime.
It just requires that the state believes that it has been shortchanged in the private transaction and sue.
The bank selects the appraiser. The borrower does not select the appraiser. I am a retired Real Estate Appraiser. In my experience all borrowers overestimate the fair mrket value of their Real Estate. In almost all cases boroowers honestly believe that the fair market value of their Real Estate is more than it actually is.

I was a commercial real estate lender and we used to joke about developers that produced some of their valuations with throw away typewriters. All large loan real estate lenders do their own valuations and overestimates are expected. Every lender would have been thrilled to do loans for Trump.
Thing is Trumps valuations are more True than most others..
His valuations would take into account him..

So every company on wall street who has real estate holdings can now be sued and fined if a judge declares they are overvaluing real property which misleads stock investors.

@@tylerhayward9707 Read the judge’s 90 page summary of the verdict. He patiently explains that the law does not require that there is a victim for a crime to have taken place. He explains why every argument put forward by Trump’s lawyer was rejected by the court.

Doesn't this judgement mean that everyone that values their property above the appraised rate is guilty of a crime? If I refuse to sell my property for what a real estate buyer offers, can I be sued and forced to sell to them for that offer? When I bought my property, I offered less than the bank was asking. Did I cheat them, or were they trying to defraud me?

In any loan request you submit your collateral and value, the bank looks it over then has their own evaluator look it over, considers your loan record and decides yes or no.

President's Day is NOT for all who have held the office. The holiday is George Washington's Birthday and was created to honour our nation's founder. Several States have declared the same day as "Presidents Day" or something similar, kinda how they have Indigenous Day on Columbus Day...but President's Day has never been declared federally or by any of the States I've lived in.

Can anyone tell me if Greg Gutfeld uses a teleprompter with which to read his gags ? I don't think he does. It's just off the cuff humour, and he's brilliant at it ! I don't think he writes his jokes beforehand or rehearses them. He's naturally sharp, very witty and spontaneous. The guy is really talented at what he does. I'm a big fan of his.
