Ahhh..those good old days of java train ..affordable and the scenery is gorgeous. The food also was so unique in every part of java and the seller was allowed to enter the coach. Miss it in todays java train, clean with aircon but the food you try it yourself...
Wow what a video, like stepping into a Time Machine back to 1988! Being able to see Gambir Station in its original form is great. I wish the video had shown more of the sleeping berths, since we no longer have them on our trains (lie-flat seats just aren’t the same). It was fascinating to see hawkers boarding the train to sell their stuff and people just lounging around, sitting on the floors of the platforms. Nowadays, only passengers can access the platforms, so no more vendors hustling. Now, security is tighter and I’m thankful for that, but we’ve lost that unique, bustling energy. TBH it was convenient having all those foods sold by the hawkers as they had quite the variety in each town the trains pass by. The restaurant car options are more limited now, but I guess that’s the trade-off for a more modern, efficient system.
I believe its not Banyuwangi station, instead it was Ketapang Station, which is within walking distance to the ferry harbour also called Ketapang Harbour

1:07 Good ol' days when people spent the time inside the train by reading newspaper. A rare sight...

Stasiun Gambir th 1980an, kenangan yang tak terlupakan
Gak nyangka bakal liat Stasiun Gambir sebelum direnovasi jadi Jalur Layang 😅

Hmm is there a train that travels to Bali?
The map is wrong, if you watch the video, the train only goes to Banyuwangi, then he took the bus to the harbour and crossed by ferry to bali.
Not really, you have to transfer to the ferry to get there
Edit: yes im late
@SalmanMentos oh
