The sheet music joke forced me to pause the video and stare into my mirror in shock for a solid 30 seconds because I play a bard and *how have I not made that joke yet I love it*
Like the "magic hands" version, but.. honestly, some of the, "Name skill - blah blah blah", to me just doesn't seem like what someone would really do in such a universe. Oh, sure, if it was one where even the NPCs where aware of stats, and skill names, etc. then maybe, but otherwise its just.. maybe think of a way of saying that which doesn't name a skill that your intended target would, technically, not have any clue of the name of, or that it exists, etc.?
I mean, there is a running joke between my paladin and his close friend, the Eldritch Knight, where he'll just go "LAY YOUR HANDS ON ME" with no context after a battle. This is especially hilarious when you know he's got a wife and kid he's very devoted to and my paladin is more interested in the cleric.
"Oh yes, the curtain matches the drapes... Matches the wallpaper, matches the furniture.. It's all quite monochromatic really." Why is no one talking about that one? xD

Friendly reminder NOT to flirt with people who can't leave. Hit NPC's as hard as you want. DM can just change characters or scenes if uncomfortable. Other players... can't really do that as easily.
As in life. When walking away isn't an option communication is key. Flirting with party members is entirely okay if you know the players are comfortable with it. Keep in mind that there's a difference between a player and there character. RPing means you can have a character that's comfortable with flirting, even when you yourself might not really be. Or the other way around.
Correction: Consent matters. If you and one (or more if you go like that) other player are comfortable with roleplaying a relationship then there's certainly no harm. But make sure it's okay before you try to go for it. Murnett signing out.

And don't let anyone tell you a Human Fighter is "Boringly Basic", they require you to have more than just Race&Class as a character. You need a good backstory & a way to make 'em stand out from the Town guards(unless that's your gimmick, which would be rather intresting now that i think about it...).

Can we please stop with the lisp thing? We have both s and z sounds in our language, so this is just plan silly. Some words are pronounced with one sound and others are pronounced with the other. You notice when a Spanish person has an actual lisp. That said, that person can absolutely flirt, be they Spanish or not.
@@bobmcbob49 Not quite. Most other dialects only utilize the s sound for all words whereas the Castilian Spanish one uses both the s sound and the z or "lisp" sound. For example, you've got the word cazar, to hunt. In Castilian Spanish it's pronounced with the z sound, and that distinguishes it from casar, to marry, which is pronounced with the s sound. In most dialects these two words are pronounced the same way. It's an extra phonem, not a random lisp. Although framing it that way is a big misleading, given it's the original dialect. It's more accurate to say the other dialects are missing this one phonem and substitute the sound with an s sound instead. Although, honestly, that's just being nitpicky. Hope that wasn't too confusing. Pd. That sound exists in English too, btw. The word throne, for example, utilizes a very similar sound. That first "th" sound is the z sound I was talking about, or at least very close to it. You don't hear me saying English speaking people all have lisps, so yeah. Pretty silly on the whole.

This might be an odd choice of video for this comment, but between calendars signifying the beginning of new things and this video just being *so good*, I wanted to say thank you. I joined a campaign six months ago that had been running for two years before that. At first I was only close with one player, it had been years since I had gotten to play consistently myself, and I wasn't confident in my character or my role playing. Your DnD videos inspired me to delve deeper into developing my character and to use my minimal amount of artistic expression to make her into something that felt more real. I kept sharing your videos with the group, which helped me feel more comfortable talking to them out of character. I sent your 50 roleplay warm up questions to the DM, and since then we have been answering 5 questions from various sources at the start of each session. Those conversations have been the most funny, insightful, and memorable social interactions I've had in awhile. I now consider each of the players and the dm to be my friends (I was even invited to one of their weddings next year! If it's safe for them to have a public wedding next year...). Your advice and enthusiasm has made me a more confident and considerate role player, and one of our groups favorite inside jokes is how I can go from giving passionate (if stilted) speeches about the importance of friendship to being absolutely incapable of speech at the mere mention of one of my npc crushes. Long story short, I'm so excited to share this with my group and for them to immediately use it to roast me and my character. Your love and enthusiasm for ttrpgs is contagious, and I couldn't be more thankful to have been swept up in the craze. Excited for my calendar to arrive, and to keep seeing what you make!

As in life. When walking away isn't an option communication is key. Flirting with party members is entirely okay if you know the players are comfortable with it. Keep in mind that there's a difference between a player and there character. RPing means you can have a character that's comfortable with flirting, even when you yourself might not really be. Or the other way around.
Correction: Consent matters. If you and one (or more if you go like that) other player are comfortable with roleplaying a relationship then there's certainly no harm. But make sure it's okay before you try to go for it. Murnett signing out.

And don't let anyone tell you a Human Fighter is "Boringly Basic", they require you to have more than just Race&Class as a character. You need a good backstory & a way to make 'em stand out from the Town guards(unless that's your gimmick, which would be rather intresting now that i think about it...).

Can we please stop with the lisp thing? We have both s and z sounds in our language, so this is just plan silly. Some words are pronounced with one sound and others are pronounced with the other. You notice when a Spanish person has an actual lisp. That said, that person can absolutely flirt, be they Spanish or not.

@@bobmcbob49 Not quite. Most other dialects only utilize the s sound for all words whereas the Castilian Spanish one uses both the s sound and the z or "lisp" sound. For example, you've got the word cazar, to hunt. In Castilian Spanish it's pronounced with the z sound, and that distinguishes it from casar, to marry, which is pronounced with the s sound. In most dialects these two words are pronounced the same way. It's an extra phonem, not a random lisp. Although framing it that way is a big misleading, given it's the original dialect. It's more accurate to say the other dialects are missing this one phonem and substitute the sound with an s sound instead. Although, honestly, that's just being nitpicky. Hope that wasn't too confusing.
Pd. That sound exists in English too, btw. The word throne, for example, utilizes a very similar sound. That first "th" sound is the z sound I was talking about, or at least very close to it. You don't hear me saying English speaking people all have lisps, so yeah. Pretty silly on the whole.

Calendar arrived today and it looks great! Hope everyone has the best Christmas they can, given the circumstances.
This might be an odd choice of video for this comment, but between calendars signifying the beginning of new things and this video just being *so good*, I wanted to say thank you. I joined a campaign six months ago that had been running for two years before that. At first I was only close with one player, it had been years since I had gotten to play consistently myself, and I wasn't confident in my character or my role playing. Your DnD videos inspired me to delve deeper into developing my character and to use my minimal amount of artistic expression to make her into something that felt more real. I kept sharing your videos with the group, which helped me feel more comfortable talking to them out of character. I sent your 50 roleplay warm up questions to the DM, and since then we have been answering 5 questions from various sources at the start of each session. Those conversations have been the most funny, insightful, and memorable social interactions I've had in awhile. I now consider each of the players and the dm to be my friends (I was even invited to one of their weddings next year! If it's safe for them to have a public wedding next year...). Your advice and enthusiasm has made me a more confident and considerate role player, and one of our groups favorite inside jokes is how I can go from giving passionate (if stilted) speeches about the importance of friendship to being absolutely incapable of speech at the mere mention of one of my npc crushes.
Long story short, I'm so excited to share this with my group and for them to immediately use it to roast me and my character. Your love and enthusiasm for ttrpgs is contagious, and I couldn't be more thankful to have been swept up in the craze. Excited for my calendar to arrive, and to keep seeing what you make!
