    Lena Jonnson is an excellent folk fiddler from Sweden and she has certainly mastered the old-timey American idiom -- no doubt from hanging out with the great Brittany Haas!

      Who originally wrote this song? I don't know, can u tell me? :( I think, Doc Watson and Rebel Son did great versions too...

      @@muratboran5088 The earliest version that I know of was recorded by Frank Hutchison around 1927. Frank was from West Virginia and I suspect he heard it from the black railroad workers when the railroad came through his hometown of Lake, West Virginia in the early 1900's. The early lyrics included the verse with "Hello, Central, give me six-oh-nine, I want to talk to that brown of mine."
