I don't know if Ash mentioned it, but you can farm Shieldguard from Deadlands (map 9) in Campaign in addition to getting him from mystery shards or market.
I completely get you man, I'm in the same boat. My son recently turned 8 years old and it gets to you. It's like seeing yourself get old as he gets older. Thanks for the awesome content! Look at that smile on Troglodyte's face when receiving his 29 scrolls, finally his big breakthrough. All jokes aside, shieldguard helped me more than my starter in the first months I played the game.
I'd really like to see some improvements on rare and uncommons too. I think Daywalker would be much improved if they made him an HP character and let his A3 autocrit since it's so conditional. I also built up the uncommon Battle Sister and she can smack pretty hard with her A2, she just can't survive for very long.

to be fair, i think a lot of champions can be an effective campaign farmer if you have the resources to 6* them LOL...
as a newer player I only have two 6* and probably not getting a third for a bit cause 5* food takes awhile to grind for us F2P players
like, I'm supposed to only focus on farming food (and not the tournaments/events) just so I can get one more champion to 6* every 1-3 weeks (assuming I play multiple times a day)
I'm f2p day 173 and it doesn't take that long to 6* anyone, I think it's just a skill issue ngl

Your max Great Hall lvl 60 shieldguard almost died. Leveling him to 60 is already a lot of resources, definitely a skip for me.
Agreed. A neat idea for late gamers, but not very viable for people still leveling champs. I'm doing 24 Mino but doesn't seem worth it until I can afford using mats on an Uncommon for 1 place. Also, did you have he have to spend 800 gems on full Masteries for Shieldguard?

If you already have a champion that can do all this, there's no point. If you're just starting the game, or aren't midgame, then he's worth the effort. I don't have max great hall and I use shieldguard as my campaign farmer (6-10seconds average), mino farmer, and doom tower runner and I'm mid-late game.... but FTP. I have him in Reflex and he outdamages legendaries.

As much as I prefer Raid to Summoner's War, the one thing Summoner's War does better, is their 2* and 3* champions are much more viable, making it easier for new players to advance faster. They have a 2* that is super fast, and all he does is stun on the A1, and his A2 fills an ally's TM to full, and buffs attack. This opens up a really fun and interesting mechanic where you can build Konamya (the 2*) SUPER fast and have him make your nuker go immediately. So your nuker can be extra slow, no need for speed in the speed boot slot, and still can go early bc of Konamya. And the skill is on a 2 turn cooldown.
I use Shieldguard as a campaign, DT and FW farmer. I don't do minotaur at all because I don't really have time to spend on another dungeon when there are other events going on. If only ALL champions in the party received scrolls instead of just one randomly, I might reconsider it. I think 800 gems is a nice tradeoff, as it saves me the time, the energy and the auto-battles themselves.
Use 4 champs with maxed out masteries then the scrolls go to 5th champ...the one you're building up.

Love the videos and kudos to your editor. Great cuts and insertions! That said, you shouldn't put food in Mino runs. In your example, Zargala wasn't getting the scrolls, Troglodyte was. And that defeats the point of grinding the Minotaur dungeon. The best approach is two champs. The solo champ and the scroll getting/leveling champ. The scroll getting/leveling champ will get half of the total XP and all of the scrolls. Running more champs dilutes the amount of XP and running additional food champs spreads out the scrolls to champs you're going to burn as chickens. I'm level 98 and while I currently have Ignatius soloing Mino, the thought that I could free him up to do other bigger and better things by replacing him with an uncommon is enticing. Good video...

I think the idea is to both farm masteries while also leveling up your keeper champions not food Champs
Since no one else is saying it, Shieldguard is a waste of resources. All the starters can solo minotaur in life steal gear, and 6 starring them is never a waste because of hard secret rooms. When you're a resource starved f2p, the last thing you want to do is spend 5 5 star chickens on an uncommon. The level of gear required to make Shieldguard a nightmare campaign farmer is such that you'll need a roster of much stronger champions in order to farm said gear in the first place.
I'll use my account as an example. I'm f2p on day 137, so I don't even have scyl yet. I've managed to raise 15 champions to 60, but sitting at 50, I've got Rector, Vogoth, High Khatun, Tayrel, Walking tomb, Klodd, Doompriest, Giscard, Arbiter, Sinesha, and Dark Elhain. I've just pulled Umbral and Bellower from voids. I've got Vrask still at 40. All of them I would 60 before a Shieldguard. But it will be another 100+ days until I can max all of them. Now, what are the odds I receive no one better than Shield guard in those 100 days? Well, I'll have Scyl by then. I'll have finished buying Yannica and Drexthar. We'll have at least 2 more fusion legendaries. Do you see? There is never a point in the game where maxing out a shield guard is a good decision. He can help you out early, but he can help at 50. If you're struggling with barbarian crypt, get 2 of them to 50. Put them in stun sets and build them tanky. That'll be enough for 21(alongside scyll, high khatun and whoever else). He's not better than any of the starters, and even they get out scaled rather quickly these days.
As an aside, you shouldn't even 60 Armiger. As good as he is, he only needs 3 stats. Crit rate, crit damage, and speed. You can build him tanky enough to survive at 50, so spend your chickens on someone who needs base stats for their scaling.
You should def 6 star Armiger! You need the extra stats for the late game.
Amen, glad someone said it, especially early in the game you can't be wasting those kinds of resources and won't have the gear for it. So many CCs misleading with this 6* Shieldguard stuff.

i use 4 max champ and 1 designated scrolls receiver, this way it goes all to 1
repeat with a new champ once maxed

@@nogoodcops6557 Your losing out on experience that way tho. That's what I was doing, but it is not as efficient as someone who can solo. Or even as fast usually, depending on who's soloing it. My Leo can solo in 46 seconds. If you solo with 1 ur building, that champ is getting half of all the experience, instead of only 1/5th. If you run it with up to 4 who need masteries and exp at the same time, your only wasting 1/5 of the exp, instead of wasting 4/5 of it. 100% worth building a Minotaur solo champ I promise. Doesn't really need "building" it's an ez solo as long as there's some kind of regen and I feel most people have some nuker in lifesteal or other solo champ for other parts of the game built out? Right?

@@musicgodstreetsapprover5475 You don’t get the scrolls faster tho…. If you solo with one who needs scrolls, u get them just as fast as with 4 maxed champs and 1 who needs scrolls. But you lose out on exp.

Got her when I just started out and me like a fool used her has food because I never knew anything about the game after I started watching ash and hell Hades channel I realized that I have done something that had me mad for months but luckily I got her a couple months ago now she's is max out

New players should totally avoid uncommon champions for the first 6 to 8 weeks... they are total Rubbish in the early game in the gear you will be able to access! There only 1 uncommon that will help you progress through the mid game and that is the 1 and only armiger! But he won't be you first second third or even your 4th 6 star...he is useless until you get to around level 14 15 in dungeons. Add to this he needs really good stats to be effect...which unless you are incredibly lucky you won't get in the early game....if you are early game just concentrate on getting your starter champion to 60( hopefully it's Kael) and spend gems for masteries( you need warmaster on the attack tree)then you need a drop defense champion. If you haven't pulled a drop defense epic yet then farm warmaiden at stage 9 of campaign. Get warmaiden to 50( don't take here higher, she will be totally useless in a few months) after that go to level 6 of the campaign and farm this area until you can get 160 plus speed on both warmaiden and your starter. If you have warmaiden faster than your starter you will then progress really fast until you hit mid game! It's a simple recipie and you are not wasting rrs on worthless champions like shield guard! Imho

Just got Shieldguard. Saw him on another of your excellent vids. Watched this vid so levelled up to 40, ascended, equipped and lvl 2 Masteries ... tried him out and I get it, he's good 😁
I have notice that there are like 1 second difference when boosting chars it depends on what champions you are leveling. I guess it's their walk animation or smthing like that. I use Queen Eva as a campaing farmer. It takes 6 seconds per round with her.
Farming masteries in minotaur yes, but you should not get food in there, ... they'll get the scrolls instead of Zargala, ... unless you wanted masteries on Troglodyte for a new champion showcase.
I am free to play and I use my gems solely for masteries. Clan Boss is where the shards are at. The difference is not big enough for me to run mino. If you could level up champs while doing it ok. But you can't. And the difference from gems needed for energy to gems needed for buying masteries is actually not big at all and not worth running that trash
Shieldguard was my first campaign farmer thanks to an earlier Ash video, I believe. He is mad fun in many areas early - midgame. Up to spider 17 or so, he can get 7 turns in a row from all the crits. Late game I still use him occasionally. Never regretted I built him.

What are your thoughts on Sister Militant. She is the most accessible campaign nuker that can farm through hard. Useful to speed up the early run up to 6 stars on first couple of champions.

Yes the major flaw with this vid...is you won't have Ash's gear until acct lvl 50-80 and by then you will have a much better champ to solo minotaur...
@@meglobob9217 I'm level 65 and I don't have a champ that can do it this fast! I have some pretty decent champs but not quick. I use Saurus as my Campaign farmer 8-15 second runs. I think Shieldguard might be faster than him!

Out of curiosity: Have you ever done a "F2P leggo value" vid? Specifically the most useful Leggos for players who can't reliably get books for them. Reason I ask is because I see a whole bunch of folks using teams of full leggos they've acquired but don't have them booked out.
I’ve seen a few vids covering champs who you don’t need to book, I think on HH channel but maybe it was Ash.
I used Shieldguard for a loong time, still do in some secrets room in DT, but then i got DANAG Skullreap and i use him as a nuker AND farmer, the 50% healing passive is GREAT, you don't need any healing gear for him because of that passive!

Hey Ash, I know how much you love Shieldguard, so I thought I'd drop this comment. I may be a little late on this, but the new referral epic may give a little sneaky buff to Shieldguard, giving him a 20% chance to do his A2 multiple times in a row. gonna be great for FW but may also have uses for content such as this
There are other uncommon champions that are worth building for new players apart from Shieldguard and armiger.
I would add
Saurus = still my campaign farmer.
Commander
Sniper
Battle sister
Elfguard.
Zephyr sniper
Outrider
Satyr
Outlaw monk.
These are all worth leveling to at least lvl 40 and some are worth taking to lvl 60 IMHO
Outlaw monk should definitely be a go-to for any new player when they're putting together their clan boss team in the first few days of playing
Early on due to being easy to book some are ok. Not worth more than a 50. Armiger is 60, period. Elfguard a 50. Others are not worth it past early game due to needing your great Hall at a much higher level to makee them worthwhile or useful past 50.

Outlaw monk was my clan mates poisoner for his clan boss team into nightmare because he just worked.
I still use 4 of that list every day in game and I'm up to lvl92.
Ive had an idea for an unkillable team using the new champ anchorite. The base premise is using warcaster block damage and anchorite to extend buffs to tank the 2 aoes, and skullcrusher unkillable to tank stun. Add seeker in and shoot for 2:1 speeds with like a fb or poisoner for dps.
Thoughts? Since warcaster unbooked has a 6 turn cd running 2:1 should have it up every 3 turns, anchorites ability is on a 3 turn cd so i feel like those should line up nice
Buff extenders cant extend block damage or unkillable. Also at 6 turns you would need warcaster to be very fast and a painkeeper/renegade in there to reduce the cool downs to hope that you could get it to work
Saved up 21 void shards. Was hoping for my first Seer, first Maneater, first Demytha, or second Coldheart. RECEIVED NONE OF THAT!
Instead I received my third Broadmaw, third Skullcrown, third Godseeker Aniri, and second Madame Serris.
Frustrated, I rage pulled 10 Ancients and the eighth Ancient was my very first Ghostborn
At least you have a Coldheart 😂I have none of these. I am 2 years into this game now and I truly believe my void pulls are cursed. Never pulled a legendary void either.
That said, I skipped this double event, as I plan to go for next guaranteed. At least I'm sure I'll get what I want in the end 😅

@@30m3 I think the double defense down on Ghostborn is redundant. His A1 and A3 does not need to be the same debuff. I would must rather his A1 be 100% decrease ATK

Seen him in the vault hiding and was wondering about him it is a good kit ...be great if stun gear would work for him! I use my gems up for champ rolls and I just started doing masteries for them one at a time by taking one out and replacing with one that doesn't have any because it just seems like it takes years to finish them. Might be a point about the great hall can't even use the dupe system with him so might not work as well until its filled in more. Great skills though.
I would love to see sniper and archer comparison given they both have very similar skills.
A team of 5 champs that you want masteries for, or 4 maxed champs and 1 you want to focus masteries for can do this just as easy..
I'm gunna need you to replicate this on your F2P account. showing this dude with your maxed out gear and maxed out Hall is just showing me how much those things help.

Ash : Been. A fallower for a While & Since year 1 I've had Sheildguard in my top 5 Champions! And he was my 1 lvl 60 use him all over to Farm. He reminds me of the Jun Warriors from Beast Master ! That's why i advanced him 1st.
My question is Who to Pair him with to pass lvl 10 in Fire Knight? I work retail 6 days a week 8-10 hrs. I get my Dailies done then use my Auto Battles while working on the floor. Any & All Help is Welcome. Keep Up the Great Vids Ash !!!

Nice video, though fail to mention must be 6 star ascended with 6 star gear. Doesn't work with 5 stars.
I like shieldguard a lot, but I don't have the gear to do this, I just use him in tank set to do damage and be a part of my team.
I was actually planning on 6 starring Saurus soon, because he has all AOE attacks and I was told he's the best campaign farmer.

by the time you can 6* shieldguard, you probably have pulled decent rares or epics to farm mino. in a game where resources is scarce early game, why 6* this champ? where would you use shieldguard beside this? plus food gets the scrolls sometimes that just sad
He said in the video to think of them as Champs he wanted masteries for not as food Champs.
And as for why because it'd be much cheaper to skill him being an uncommon than a rare or epic when books for those grades are harder to get early on
Yeah i play this game for nearly 2 years now and only a month ago i realised my ma'shalled can solo mino in 58 seconds. Gamechanging. You level up the champ from lvl 1 to lvl 60 basically, you get scrolls, you get silver and you save yourself 800 gems.

Hmm don't have shieldguard maxed let alone built, but indeed struggling with masteries myself, would like any legendary or a bellower / candraphon /soulles be able to do this on an ok rate? only bought masteries for my campaign farmer so far, rest still could use alot of masteries done so not too sure what the best way would be?

Why would you put food champs in mino? I use 4 champs with maxed masteries so 1 champ can get all the scrolls
This is nice and all ASH and ShieldGuard has a nice mechanic. But it's misleading to encourage people to SAVE GEMS using shieldguard for this purpose. You can just use a decently built Scyl of the Drakes for this or a number of other well built champs like even your starter champ paired with apothecary or something. Or anyone that has Deliana can solo it with her etc. Tons of champs can solo it. 6 starring Shield Guard is a gimmick that wastes the resources of new players. Think about it.
But in reality is it such a waste ? . You don't get scyl until 6 months in (unless you get a really lucky pull) and you can't wait that long for masteries so having a champ that's easy to get very easy to skill train (using dupes) and pretty easy to gear up might actually encourage newer players to stick around long term
I need to get shieldguard to 60. I only have armiger and I used to have him at 50 but then I used him to 6 star another champion

I really like Saurus for my campaign farmer. Easy 6 second 12-3 brutal. However I could only make this work with full masteries so I wonder if there is a way to deck Saurus out so that I can do the same thing without masteries

Well I got 1 rare, but no Saurus or Shieldguard....

The problem is.. when you still beginner.. you dont have six star gear and you cant use shielguard for farming because not strong enough for it..

Energy cost gems as well.....with as many runs as it takes to max out someone's masteries (170+) plus the time it takes for phone only users, it's not that much of a waste of gems, auto clicker folks might have a different calculation.

I like the content and everything and I've been considering this for a while but it's not going to save gems because now I have to use those gems for energy to farm the Minotaur and I need that energy elsewhere I'm going to stick with using gyms for my masters but I am going to build one of these out for nightmare campaign farming
FYI: It averages out to 640 gems worth of energy to farm masteries in Mino. So you save 160, not as much as Ash may be making out here, but it is a saving.

You feel old, you're funny. I'm 55, the wife is 53 and we have a 14 yr old daughter and a 15 yr old son. I miss the days I could beat them in just about anything, now they run circles around me.
I've yet to build up a sheildgaurd. I just use deliana on both accounts. You save gems by farming but how many times do you use gems for more energy to farm 1 champion to full?
I'm lvl 94 playing over 2 years and I bought 1 set of masteries lol
