Doesn’t work in practice.
An opening that wide would cut too many important blood vessels and you would bleed out before they have even managed to get to the bones.
And if bu some miracle they got to the bone and broke even one rib that would cause even more bleeding and you will pass out and die without feeling any pain.
Getting to the stage where the lungs are removed and expecting the victim to be alive is pure fantasy.
The human body is too smart and well structured for any of these moronic fantasies to take place while also keeping it conscious.
The Viking would typically remove the back ribs as well though. It was like a half Blood Eagle.

A blood eagle is a Viking ritual execution dating back to the beginning of their time. It is a slow agonizing death. It consists of cutting open the back, pulling out the lungs, and spreading the ribcage like that of eagle wings, hence the term blood eagle.

In the show Vikings, blood eagle was used as a terrible form of torture. If you didn’t scream before you died from it then you would be able to enter Valhalla or Heaven

Blood eagle was the same as in Mid Sommer when u see him breathing too, I don’t understand how I can stay alive during that but it was an ancient torture technique , ususally the mouth was made to stay closed .

The other girl definitely knew. They were on the run (staying in a hotel), she picked up his phone and laughed that his mom was calling him, then lied about where he was on the phone with his boss, didn't act surprised or ask questions when her girlfriend paid off the maid then probably killed her, then at the end it explained why she was in a bad mood--she couldn't find her wallet and was obsessing over it the whole night. She just wasn't into him because he was a class-A douchebag, and it turned her off from their kink of finding guys to have threesomes with then slowly torturing them to death with the Blood Eagle.
