i dont see how anyone can complain about him monetizing his channel. you can watch a 30 second ad or 5 seconds most of the time if you skip to compensate him for the hours of work he puts in to each vlog. and if you cant, then youre not much of a fan

Meg Ryan what Casey means is that until now he hasn't ticked the box to allow ads to be shown on his videos. until ads are shown on your videos you cannot earn ad money from them (because if no ads are shown, no ad views are counted) I think the situation you mean is if he DID have ads but hadn't set up an adsense account yet then you're right money would be waiting for him.

palefox I'm pretty sure the free videos are about business. His business is (well, now that Beme, a significant part of his business is) largely about making commercials. The videos he releases for free are most likely part of a strategy to get his name out there so he gets hired on. Also, they help him refine his skills. And I'm sure he also truly enjoys making them, but by and large my assumption is the decision to not monetize the videos with preroll ads was at least in part a business decision. It may sound like I'm being cynical, but I think if Casey thought putting ads before his videos would further his goals in life, there would have been ads. Now, I don't really think that making lots and lots of money is really Casey's only goal. Building a career out of something he is passionate about really does seem to be his number one goal outside of family. I mean, even running almost seems to be something that Casey does largely as part of a strategy for helping his career: leading to more energy and a good ritual for starting off the day. The fact that on foot is one of the best ways to find locations to shoot from is probably not a coincidence. Well, and the fact that someone told him he'd never be able to run again. Telling him something is impossible is probably the single most effective way to get Casey to do something. Telling him something is easy will most likely get that task pushed off to the side until there isn't anything more interesting to do.

(Amtrak service between New Haven and Penn Station IS faster, but slightly more expensive. The new ACS-64 electric locomotives look awesome, as well as the aging Acela Express trains)

I don't think others realized that Casey is a nice guy but also a smart business owner. I have been wondering if he would monetize or do less vlogging once beme was more established. Have no problem with him monetizing because this is essentially another job as long as I'm not watching a promotional video for beme. I think he posted a few beme specific videos in anticipation of monetizing. Beme is not for me so he hasn't been able to monetize my views up to this point.
I like how honest Casey is about the ad thing. Like many subscribers complain about ads and how TH-camrs only endorse things now, but think about it people need to find a way to live a get more money. Casey wants the best for his son and to help him achieve his goals in the future
Thank you Casey for the view of New York City. I remember travelling on a Megabus from Boston to New York and the view coming into New York with the buildings getting bigger and driving through the different districts was mesmerising. My guess it that there are 2 reasons. 1) His "following" was way smaller before his Vlog started, which means that it wouldn't make much difference economically. And since he doesn't seem to like ads himself it makes sense not to implement them. 2) Another "consequence" of having a "smaller following" before the Vlog might have been that he prioritised to reach more people with his work(and possibly grow his subscriber base) higher than the economic gain that monetising his content might yield. SuperCacapedo +oggo loggo Seemed pretty clear to me from the start that the vlog was his marketing strategy for beme. I don't think others realized that Casey is a nice guy but also a smart business owner. I have been wondering if he would monetize or do less vlogging once beme was more established. Have no problem with him monetizing because this is essentially another job as long as I'm not watching a promotional video for beme. I think he posted a few beme specific videos in anticipation of monetizing. Beme is not for me so he hasn't been able to monetize my views up to this point.

I like how honest Casey is about the ad thing. Like many subscribers complain about ads and how TH-camrs only endorse things now, but think about it people need to find a way to live a get more money. Casey wants the best for his son and to help him achieve his goals in the future

Thank you Casey for the view of New York City. I remember travelling on a Megabus from Boston to New York and the view coming into New York with the buildings getting bigger and driving through the different districts was mesmerising. Thank you for the reminder and one day in the future I will look forward to seeing that again maybe on a plane next time.

you really didn't cover your fear of the subway. I really don't mind the ads if it helps you in any way.
I'm surprised he didn't monetize his channel years before the daily vlogging.
My guess it that there are 2 reasons.
1) His "following" was way smaller before his Vlog started, which means that it wouldn't make much difference economically. And since he doesn't seem to like ads himself it makes sense not to implement them.
2) Another "consequence" of having a "smaller following" before the Vlog might have been that he prioritised to reach more people with his work(and possibly grow his subscriber base) higher than the economic gain that monetising his content might yield.
