Back in the 60's, Worsley Hall, Marsh Green and Norley Hall were new housing estates and the areas were very pleasant. I always think it's a shame for the residents who look after their homes and are having to live amidst the mess caused by certain people. As with many towns and cities in the UK, Wigan does have some nice areas.

wow last time i was in wigan the town centre -- station road -- to be precise propably may/june 1981 was at wigan casino its a shopping centre as i gather now saturday nights was a ritual for many many northern soul fans there till 8 am dancing all night those were the happy days for many !!!!!!!!

Estates are all the same no matter where you go in the uk ..mostly run down & forgotten. It’s a shame as many years ago they were lovely friendly places to live. Great channel Billy and the subs prove it 👍
There would be the created slums and other areas well maintained. Those people able to leave the slums for better areas then would learn to better appreciate the importance of human accomplishment. This meant that if they left the jungle and came to civilisation, so to speak, they could be proud of their own accomplishments that they made it.There was no related sympathy for those who were left behind in the jungle of drugs and deteriorating neighbourhoods.
Then a statement that was kind of surprising, "We think we can effectively limit crime to the slum areas, so it won't be spread heavily into better areas".
I'm guessing that in some posh parts of the south like Winchester, Windsor and a lot of North Yorkshire there aren't many run down estates cos only very wealthy people can afford to live there. But yeah, probably the majority of towns and cities across the country have their gloomy outcrops

When I watch your stuff from the estates around Britain it always strikes me in most of the videos how much rubbish is left just discarded also the amount of furniture and white goods in streets . Maybe the government should start a community clean up campaign. There is no hope for us if we aren’t caring about each other or our environment. I’m a grandfather and I worry for my grandkids the future looks really bleak for their generation. Council used to take it for people ,they cant afford £ 30 upwards thats why its collecting in the gardens . We have the shops which as far as im concerned should be cleaning the litter up its coming from the shop .

I think the biggest cause is neglect and mismanagement by local councils. I live in Inverness and like you they charge us for bigger items and white goods but when you watch Billy’s estate videos they are all the same and I’ve also noticed that you never see bin men or street cleaners in the estates . They are in the city centres trying to give the impression that this is a great clean place to live . Billy’s videos showing what is really going on should bring shame on the government but the sad truth is no government takes responsibility the Labour Party blame the tories and the tories blame labour and meanwhile we the plebs are meant to just put up with it .

I grew up on Viscount Road (pronounced 'v-eye-count') till I was about 13 when I moved and it was a lot better back then and a lot cleaner (I'm 17 now). I've never heard it been called Little Beirut tho. The kids there have now become feral tho. 💀

My dad was born in a old cottage in Marsh Green just before the second world war, they were later demolished and the council estate was built. Apparently it mostly all green fields and farmland before the estate. ❤

Once they get to adulthood they are aggressive to people they don't know and need to be kept in enclosures with other Meerkats. This reminds me of when people kept Terrapins then chucked them in ponds when they were mature. I'm sure this lady was nice but just unaware.
She seemed a kind woman but for the health and well being of the animal she needs to find a good Wildlife Rescue Centre who can reintroduce the animal back into their natural habitat. The meerkat will suffer greatly otherwise

See when i see that massive green space near the derelict school i see childrens playgrounds,veg gardens,chicken coups,maybe a pond,what an absolute waste...no communities anymore ...as the saying goes ...idle hands makes devils work 😮😢😮

That mill at the end has has been host of numerous businesses in the past, roller rink and also indoor go karting track, the newer mill just further down the road has been repurposed into a food venue I believe similar to the cains brewery in Liverpool however the one in the vid I assume will be knocked completely down at some point and sold to developers for housing like many once loved historic landmarks

I lived in Wigan for a couple of year before covid. You should of walked right thru town at that time. You'd of got content there. Beggers, homeless, shoplifters, grafters, dealers, fights. Pubs are always half-full. You need to go Billy.

I Live in Billinge on the old hospital estate Very nice areas around here like Upholland, I suppose every town has got nice and not so nice areas.

Platt Bridge not much difference really though. Higher Folds in Leigh and Hag Fold in Atherton used to be rough too. Don’t know if they have improved.

That mill at the end has has been host of numerous businesses in the past, roller rink and also indoor go karting track, the newer mill just further down the road has been repurposed into a food venue I believe similar to the cains brewery in Liverpool however the one in the vid I assume will be knocked completely down at some point and sold to developers for housing like many once loved historic landmarks

I lived in Wigan for a couple of year before covid. You should of walked right thru town at that time. You'd of got content there. Beggers, homeless, shoplifters, grafters, dealers, fights. Pubs are always half-full. You need to go Billy.

All these rough areas you visit Billy, but the worse they are, the more friendly and approachable the residents seem 🤷♂️ Most of the attitude I’ve seen has either been out on the open streets at night, or where groups of like-minded individuals congregate in town centres - very rare I’ve noticed any genuine hostility or aggression from the residents themselves.
