On the auspicious day of Guru Purnima, devotees from around the world lined up to have first darshan of Swamiji. Swamiji visited the Nithyanadeshwara Devasthana, offered arathi to the presiding deities Lord Nithyanandeshwara and Devi Nithyanandeshwari. Then, He visited the sacred Banyan tree and Adi Guru Dakshinamurthy.
Adheenams, Temples, and centers around the world offered naivedyams to their Guru. Bengaluru Aadheenam offered 1008 naivedyams. Other Adheenams and centers included Nithyanandeshwara Hindu Temple, Singapore Adheenam - 165 naivedyams, Nithyananda Paduka Mandir, Dubai Adheenam - 156 naivedyams; Nithyanandeshwara Hindu Temple, St. Louis Adheenam - 141 naivedyams; Nithyanandeshwara Hindu Temple, Los Angeles Adheenam - 111 naivedyams; Nithyanandeshwara Hindu Temple, Ohio Adheenam - 108 naivedyamas; Nithyanandeshwara Temple, Thiruvanmiyur Adheenam; Nithyananda Satsang Center, New Zealand Adheenam; Nithyanandeshwara Hindu Temple, Toronto Adheenam
Many offered pada puja as a mark of gratitude for all the blessings they have received from the Guru. Elaborate Pancha Mangala arathi was offered on the occasion.
In the message to the world on this very auspicious day for all disciples in the all the worlds, Swamiji initiated all into Shivathvamasi and spoke on the guru-shishya relationship.
There were many new releases on the occasion. Nithyananda University released new online courses and on iTunesU making it easy to access this ancient wisdom for modern man. Nithyananda University Press releases new ground breaking book called Avatar Shashtra. This first volume presents the scientific research done on the attributes of the Avatar or Superconscious energy.
The highlight of the day for any disciple is bikshavandanam. It is the one day when Guru receives biksha in the form of karmas from devotees, who eagerly present biksha in various forms. Swamiji blessed each one with the traditional blessing of rice.
The eminent carnatic musician Nithyasree Mahadevan and her team entertained with devotional songs.
Guru mudi was offered to Lord Dakshinamurthy symbolizing the offering of one's karmas at the Lord's Feet to be burnt away.
Balasanths of Nithyananda Gurukul enrich all visitors by demonstrating various powers they express from Swamiji's initiations.
Medical camps inaugurated on the occasion for the neighbouring villages.
Rudrabishekam to the 21 foot Nithyananda linga and 1008 shiva lingas happened in Vaidya Sarovar, the theertha of Bidadi kshetra.
As the sun set, the evening delight was Rathotsavam. Swamiji was in the flower decorated palaki.
