    I’m loving my iRobot Roomba 692. Just got mines yesterday at Best Buy. The only down thing about it is, if it’s to far from the charger station and you want it to go back to it. It’s hard to find it so you got to help it out. I still love it! Thanks for the great review

  • @ai522

    A good thing to note is that third party rollers are significantly louder and less efficient than iRobot ones. I’m all for saving money, but I encountered this issue after installing the comb dust bin modification (10/10 highly recommend it). The bristle length is shorter so it wouldn’t make any contact with the comb. In addition to more tangled, this also results in poor cleaning for obvious reasons. Thanks for the review

    Thank you very much for this review! I previously knew little to nothing about Roombas other than they were very expensive. So, when I saw the 692 for a great price on Amazon Prime Day this year, I picked it up. Now I really regret it because it has very little in the way of virtual walls and no go spots. You actually have to buy another a piece of equipment which isn't cheap to create a virtual wall. Maybe this will eventually sell me on a more expensive model that I would have never considered before, just not sure yet. I have found the 692 to be very rough when it comes to crashing into things. It's very first run in my home broke a glass Candlestick I've had for over 35 years and took down each of my TH-cam box lights twice. So finding out that creating no go spots or virtual walls it's impossible with this model without buying extra Hardware made me very disappointed with this model. Very glad to hear though that it is one of the more solid and long-lasting models!

    Such a helpful video. Thank you so much! We bought a 692 and then found your video. I appreciate learning that there's a difference between the smart vacuums and not smart vacuums. Overall, it's been pretty good but I do notice it does miss certain spots and areas (like the vestibule in front of the back door where it's needed). Which smart vacuum do you recommend?

    I swapped my "dumb" roomba 700 with lighthouses for an xiaomi mop pro. Overall with multiple rooms I am happy with the swap, I definitely prefer the smart nav, but on carpets the xiaomi is definitely much worse and has trouble cleaning it, even after repeated run. I agree with the author's conclusion. With one room or a simple layout and a large area of carpet the roomba may be a better choice.
    After time, I am starting to appreciate the great mechanics of the roomba in terms of cleaning efficiency. You just have to swallow the bitter pill of medieval navigation.

  • @ManiacalMan

    Seems like the 692 is the one to go with; the 675 is the same price ($199 on Amazon) and the 694 is $20 more (but a 3 pack of filters costs $30).
    Do you have an opinion on the Deebot U2 Pro? It’s on sale at Costco now for $250 ($100 off). Should I get it over these roombas? I’ve got a 1BR apartment that’s pretty tidy to begin with but has kitty litter to pick up constantly and is split between hardwood and carpet.
    Thanks!

    Thanks for all the videos! I've learned a lot about robot vacuums from them, but I'm wondering why no one has tested any models, especially any top of the line models like the S9+, on carpet deodorizer. I get that older models and a lot of affordable models would be overwhelmed by all of that fine powder, but is that equally true for the models that are scoring between 80 and 96 on your carpet deep cleaning test? Or does the problem have more to do with the powder "blinding" different sensors and clogging filters?

    I’ve been hanging on, trying to learn this whole world of robot vacuums. I’ve had my eyes on the ‘Ecovacs Deebot Ozmo T8 Aivi’ for some time, but I just don’t know. I’m ok with spending a little more but I don’t know if it’s worth it. Really, my biggest concerns are doorsteps and apps. Can any robot vacuum climb doorsteps? And who makes the best app? I hope you can point me in the right direction..

    • @VacuumWars
      @VacuumWars  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      So the max climbing height for that T8 is 20 mm. Some companies will be clear about that, and some others don't say much about it. We keep track of it on our website and you can compare it against others too - www.vacuumwars.com/compare-ecovacs-deebot-ozmo-t8-aivi-with-auto-empty-bin-vacuum-cleaner
      As far as the app goes, we also track those features on the website too, when it's available. Those can also improve with updates over time. Sorry to just be plugging the site, but it will be a good starting point since you know some of what you are looking for.

      I would, I’ve got a Roomba E5 that is 2.5 years old. And I have a Ecovacs Deebot T8 AIVI for about 3 months now. Never had any problem with the E5 you can find original spareparts at the Irobot website and other places. Their customer service is great! The only downside I think are the rubber rollers that are doing a fantastic job though they don't go for that long and are pretty expensive imo. I'm trying to get original spare parts for my Deebot and it's a hassle, on the official website it's almost always out of stock and getting in touch with customer service is much harder than it should be. You didn't mentioned one thing, 690 came with virtuall wall, 675 and 694 does not, and 694 does not have handle. For me, who loves handles this is pretty painful, as you need to pick up the entire robot with 2 hands.

    Have you thought of testing shop oriented vacuums like Makita's bot?

    Got the 694 black friday for 179 off amazon. Works well, but it's very loud. That's the only real downside.

    I have 675 and it's ok. The brushy brush gets really destroyed and tangled though. And no navigation is annoying. I am looking to upgrade. Not sure roborock S7 vs i7

    iRobot is the best choice because it’s easy to repair. You can change every single part of Roomba and it has standard screws. Because Roomba is popular u can buy every single part easily and parts like brushes and filters are cheep.

      The modular design also means it's moddable. Swapped out the little vacuum impeller in my 560 for a bigger one from an 880. More power, and it makes a cool whirring sound!

    After having one for a month... READ THE MANUAL. I only read part of it. There is maintenance, tiny issues that occur and things that can go wrong that have simple fixes but you will be clueless about unless you READ THE MANUAL.

    Not to by a cynic, but . . . that's a boring robot. I use a Roomba at home. An i8 (Costco i7). It does fine, but I honestly don't think it cleaned any better than the cheapo Shark IQ that it replaced. And it never seems to fill the bag. Where on earth is all that dirt that I know is there going? With 2 shedding animals in the house, there is debris for certain.

    pretty much all Roombas are a ripoff here [as with anything with a prestige brand], it's ridiculous next to USA prices.
    I remember the predecessor to the 692 costing $50 more than the Roborock S5 I bought for $350aud in nov 2018, and thank god I did.
    Can't ever go back to the frustrations of dumb robovacs.

    • @ai522
      @ai522 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Eh the newer Roborocks are solid but so many people had issues with models like their S6 and carpet. The brush roller would completely turn off. When contacting Roborock, their response was that it was a feature to protect the motor. Seems absurd considering a $50 robot vacuum can easily go on carpet. It’s unfortunate vacuum wars never shed light on this major issue. You can read a ton about it on the subreddit
