Lille defender Leny Yoro is flying to the UK for a medical with Manchester United after a deal worth a total of more than £50m was agreed between the clubs last week.

Phenomenal signing, but we need another centre back to be contenders this season. Not fair to expect an 18 year old to come straight in and perform to a league leading standard, but man, that is a sensational signing for the future.

The fact that he went from the extent of rather waiting a year for Real Madrid, to having his Manchester United medical just shows how much our board and staff have improved. This medical has come out of nowhere. The INEOS board have now pulled multiple huge names who simply wouldn’t want to come to us if INEOS weren’t in place. Omar Berrada (Man City CEO), Dan Ashworth (Newcastle SD who still had years left on his contract), Jason Wilcox (Set to become Liverpool Technical Director), soon Matthijs de Ligt (Elite CB who had years left on Bayern contract) and now Leny Yoro who was supposedly bound to sign for Madrid. We have no right to have acquired these names even if it took years to get them. INEOS have acquired these lot in a season. Mental. And that’s not even mentioning Zirkzee who had agreed terms with AC Milan and was being tracked down by Arsenal.
It just shows how successful Madrid are by not spending 52 million on a 19 year old with 1 year on his contract 😂

I don’t see it like that. He’s a young lad, I believe he was pressured into joining Utd. We were clearly not his first choice, but bcoz of the money we were offering, his team and the Lille were like ‘come on you need to accept this you do well there then Madrid will come back for you’.
Where as De ligt genuinely wanted to join us, hoping we still get him to be honest

Kind of shows how far United have fallen this past decade for this to be a surprise a player has chosen United over Madrid. I remember back in e.g. 2012 where many considered United the biggest club ITW (and ahead of Madrid). They've fallen, but clearly still a massive club (still top 3 ITW).

Martinez, Dalot, Shaw and back up players like Maguire, Wan Bissaka and Evans all have plenty of experience for club and country. Even Onana is a pretty experienced goalie.
If they still manage to get De Ligt, he has a ton of experience playing for big clubs as well.
Yoro would pretty much be the only young/inexperienced defender along with maybe Amass if he does get some time with the first team.
