Shisui was poisoned, and despite the poisoning, Danzo barely managed to defeat him. It was revealed that the poison Shisui was afflicted with was fatal and originated from the Aburame clan. Faced with his inevitable fate, Shisui made the selfless choice to sacrifice himself, providing Itachi the opportunity to witness the death of a dear friend and awaken his Mangekyou Sharingan.

Can we just take a moment to acknowledge this gigachad, not only did he barely falter after losing his left eye, he gave his right eye to itachi, acting like he totally didn't just gouge his eye out and could still tell his friends feelings. Your understanding of the powerscaling in this franchise is really screwed. Danzo isn't a pushover. He literally scared the shit out of Shisui when he took his eye, dude was so scared that he took his other eye and gave it to Itachi before committing suicide. If Danzo could beat Teleport Shisui, adjusting his tactics to beat another Teleporter like Minato wouldn't be impossible.
While Minato is strong, there's literally very little evidence that says he could beat Danzo during that time when Itachi and Shisui were still young. Even without his Sharingan arm, Danzo was almost always as powerful as Sarutobi. However, there is also little evidence that supports the notion that Danzo could beat Minato.
Also you're talking about him figuring out Izanagi/Izanami but Danzo didn't have his arm yet. He only got it after the Uchiha Massacre.
Nevermind the fact that IF Minato was still alive, there wouldn't have been a reason to isolate the Uchiha so there wouldn't be any attempted coup. Then there would be no justifiable reason to massacre the clan, so no order would be given to Itachi. Hence Danzo wouldn't even have his arm.

Shisui is far and beyond my favorite Character in Naruto. I find him the most relatable, Kind and Noble. Itachi was the only Shinobi capable of carrying on Shisui’s Will, and he did so beautifully.
I only wish that Sasuke showed more compassion for Shisui when facing Danzo and learning of his Betrayal towards Shisui when he stole his Sharingan. Or perhaps better yet, Edo Itachi could have made an appearance and avenged Shisui with his own hands; That could have been such a powerful moment

The Uchihas have had geniuses like Madara, Itachi and Sasuke. But Shisui was the true genius among geniuses of the Uchiha clan. Him and Minato had to be killed off or else the series would've ended before it even began.
Edit: Some people consider Obito a genius but I don't think he was. Case and point: Kakashi (the actual genius) was whooping his ass on repeat. Rather, he was similar to Naruto. Both weren't geniuses, but their mindsets, hardwork and path in life made them just as strong (if not, stronger) than the geniuses I mentioned earlier in the long run.

Don't get me wrong, Obito ended up being just as strong as the Uchihas i mentioned earlier but he was no genius. Or else he wouldn't have repeatedly lost to Kakashi (who was in fact a genius).

Shisui indeed had a very special visual prowess. Had he escaped without fighting Danzo, maybe he would have been hokage instead of Tsunade

In itachi's novel , it was even said that shisui's death delayed the coup d etat by a whole year yet the third hokage didnt do anything to stop it which shows that sarutobi was always on the same page with danzo and not as the anime shows it that only danzo decided that and the third was goody good old man 😅 and it was even said that he was one of the people who started the third ninja war to protect the hidden leaf interest
Also it was said that shisui was like poisonned by an aburame and thats what able danzo to take shisui's eye , after that , itachi did kill so badly that aburame to avenge shisui , that he burned his whole body with amaterasu until nothing was left
The novels are cannon and approved by kishimoto and they contain a lot of information about a lot of people like itachi has 2 novels , sasuke , sakura , naruto , shikamaru has 2 as well related to some scene that didnt figure out in the anime or even manga

It always made me wonder if jiraiya had known something about the massacre and coup detat. Cause before leaving to go to the hidden rain village he tells tsunade "be aware of the foundation", which clearly means he knows what type of person danzo is.
Of course Jiraiya did. He was the 3rd Hokage favorite student and he was basically a spy himself. He knew about the Akatsuki and their plans before anyone else. He also knew about Amaterasu when no one else did

two reasons. mainly 1.
1.) in the anime it shows danzo just running up on shisui, that’s filler. it’s explained in the manga and light novels that the head of the aburame clan Torune Danzo’s right hand man(yes shino’s clan) had the ultimate bug of their clan that is only entrusted to the strongest in the clan. that bug is microscopic. Upon being infected it paralyzes and poisons you until you die. the paralysis allowed danzo to walk up and take his eye, the shock of having his eye ripped out allowed shisui to break free from the paralysis. shisui had secretly been infected with this bug ordered by danzo and shisui was weakened and slowly dying.
2.) is indeed loyalty, the storm 4 games actually portray shisui wrong. shisui literally did not care for his clan. his mother was already dead and his father had gotten sick and could not recognize his son. shisui had already accepted his father as dead long before he actually died when he was only 7 years old. shisui was completely loyal to the leaf. he would live and die by danzo’s word.

It’s sad but to be honest no matter what. When you think about it. Nobody would’ve stopped the uchiha from being killed. Cause it was a inside job and it was it’s own family member, actually both family members in itachi and madara. So it was inevitable.

Actually Bryan the thing is when u got both the MS and Activate the susano for the first time and learned how to activate it then later when you don’t possess any MS you can still activate the Susano… Shisui always know how to use it and that’s not his first time like Madara also use susano against onetail capturing when he got revived fully to his human form and he didn’t have the MS or Rinnegan with him then … In case of Obito at Young age he gave his sharingan to kakashi which is not an Activated MS .. so with both MS at the same time susano cannot be activated for the first time

A detail that the game left out from the novel, Shisui was SEVERELY poisoned by an Aburame clan member and why Danzo snatched his eye he was under paralysis from the poison. When Danzo took it, the adrenaline broke the Paralysis and a near dead Shisui escaped Danzo and was found by Itachi

How Shisui lost to Danzo, the weakest Kage level shinobi out there is insane even with Danzo's backup. This guy lost to Sasuke even when he had an arm full of sharingan's to use Izanagi on and got hit by everything Sasuke hit him with. I can't imagine without Izanagi he would last long even against a normal lvl jounin. Why Shisui would not either use Susano from the start or just put a spell on Danzo's anbu to help him is a pretty big plot hole given they seemed to keep looking him directly in the face.

Ik it's bull shit considering that shisui is sasuke and itachi's big homie but he sadly had to die for plot because then most of the plot wouldn't have happened if bro killed danzo
It's not about the battle... The dude got poisoned by the beetle poison of the aburame clan, he's organs where literally dying right there, shutting off... He had no chance... And as for sasuke, he only started winning thanks to Karin pointing out how izanagi works, so sasuke could determine how many lives danzo has left each time he's died.

I read a comment on another video that theorized once the mongekyo are obtained and the susano is unlocked they can use it whenever they want, regardless of if they have one or both eyes. Just like Madara when he used his susano without ANY eyes when he got resurrected.
Awakening the MS would awaken the Susanoo you don't need both eyes to activate the Susanoo. I.E Madara 4th great ninja war.
You need both eyes to achieve it. After that, it seems it's a power of the body. Madara used it with no eyes at all after he was revived with Rinne Rebirth. That's why Kakashi's Susano'o was only achieved by Kakashi with both eyes.

I mean, in the next cutscene, they're both out of breath and standing. Implying that they fought to a stalemate. If Danzo wasn't a match for Shisui, he'd be on his knees or on his ass.
