I've always liked jazz by listening to 89.5, Tulsa University, on Saturday night. Thanks to TH-cam, I can enjoy and explore even more. I can't get enough of Mobley's stuff. Awesome!

The first tenor soloist is the late, great Billy Root, from Philadelphia, who also played and toured on baritone saxophone with the Dizzy Gillespie Big Band and can also be heard on bari on Lee Morgan's "Dizzy Atmosphere". Bad dude!
Just after 4:20, a splice in middle of Billy’s solo? Love both tenors here! Way too many great moments to comment on, but dig how Mobley weaves in out of changes at 8:28! To my ears foreshadowing some approaches to phrasing in decades to come.
Bisognerebbe ogni volta scrivere un breve saggio sulla natura della musica che si ascolta e sulla qualità degli interpreti. Tre sole parole: eccellente ed eccellenti tutti.
Mr. Mobley had one of the very loveliest Horns ever. His music takes me to another level. I relax too.❤

I love the gradual tempo push through the whole thing.
