Love the backstory on Tatsumi PA, and learning that its position along the highway allowed drivers to enter, exit, run the loop, and re-enter the PA, without having to leave the highway and pay extra tolls! Brilliant.
It's wild how you can recognise some of these roads and PAs, having never been there, just from them being featured in video games such as Genki's Shutokō Battle series.
I absolutely adore Tatsumi PA. Many years ago on a trip to Tokyo I rented a 34 at Omoshiro rental and accidentally drove to the other Tatsumi first haha. I was so lost but a local that was there in a wild EVO 5 told me to follow him the actual Tatsumi PA. I then saw a couple of raw OG street racer type RWBs before all the global fame online. They had tons of battle scars so you could tell they were driven hard. I made a friend there whose car unfortunately died, then the police came to shut down the lot. We were the only ones there for an hour or so until we got it running, the cops were so nice haha. We spent the whole night driving to the different PAs. One of the best memories I have in Tokyo. Great video! Love the ending!
It's always been my dream to eventually get to drive out to Tatsumi, so hearing about it being closed early during the past few years has been disheartening. Glad to see it being closed much later again and hope that it remains that way.
As always awesome video! It remained me about all the stories that I had read on Speedhunters about it and dream to visit this place. Definitely adding it to my list of places to visit for my next trip to Japan in February after picking up rental car. Alongside Daikoku and Umihotaru.
Between Tokyo Extreme Racer 0, and random videos I heard of the names and saw them in cartoon ratios. Once I found Speedhunters and other choice spots, I got this kind of information and a bit more understanding of what “locals only” means beyond fighting for space. Thanks for sharing this insight, means a lot.
Tatsumi is such a cool spot, good to be able to know that this type of car culture is still alive and well within Japan. You're videography is great, the night driving footage made me want to grab my keys and go for a midnight blast. Thanks for the sick video Dino.
Ive started watching you for not long and Im beginning to unaderstand how much of a legend you are, getting accepted in shops you wander to like with the abandoned cars, knowing Nakai san so well and for a long time and now knowing you worked for pagani? wow
Often as car enthusiasts we are our own worst enemies. Just a little bit of respect, time and place, that sort of thing will stop regular people from getting pissed off and turning their hate into regulation and the law.
May never get to tokyo, thank you for allowing us to catch a glimpse. Itb roadster sounds Reminiscent of our local Brisbane midnight hoots through the city, open ram pipes singing their song. Love it mate.👌
Tatsumi PA Sunday morning has been my favorite. The guys that are there are friendly and share lots of stories about Japanese car culture! ❤. I hope you’re right about night time closures stoping. Let’s get that wall removed through some legal means as well. 👍
Oh damn, that thumbnail. I remember read the article on speedhunters about it when i was around middle school Now I'm already married and about to be a father next year
What a beautiful E39 station wagon in the beginning. With all due respect, it would be cool for you to see Igor from Brclubtv's car and Juninho's widebody 33 from Juninho Brc . Both widebody . They're from Japan. That would be really cool. Japan is a wonderful place
Dang it Dino you worked for Pagani👀. Man I knew something about you was unique as heck👀. Man that’s mind blowing 😱😱😱 Whatt country were you in at the time? By chance Milan Italy?
Congratulations on getting your line of merch moving. And yeah, that was such a special time. I remember reading about it and seeing some of the early videos.
I kind of feel Japan has gotten way too mainstream. I hope it kind of goes back to what it was in the 90/00's where it was still more underground and mysterious.
@ can i just say its an honer tonhwve you reply to my comment i did not even expect for you to answer thank you so much love your videos plz never stop posting 💯💯💯😇😇😇
I know some people will watch this and compare to where they live and say nah theres no way people street race without geting caught by the police. But the reality is in this area and the highways around it, you rarely rarely see police.
3:49 Well, then that's on the car nerds. I generally don't have _too_ much of an issue with some hooliganism so long as nobody else gets hurt, but not stepping on people's toes is a pretty crucial reason for past street racers getting away with as much as they used to. Don't mess with the freakin' truckers, fellas. 5:41 Perfect example. Sick 1M, but like.....park it somewhere else.
Kindly advise. Blocking the speedometer does not mean one can not figure out the speed of the car. Since i do not know Japanese regulations i am not able to do it.But the distance of the lane markers should be regulated and normally one can calculate driving speed with that information and the frame rate of the video. Just drive within the speed limit if you want to show it or use slow motion footage. From my experience Japanese police is always relatively strict to foreigners that misbehave.

@@dino_dc I was joking and didn’t expect your reply! Thank you!
The car culture in Japan is insane. Just a regular day and you get all kind of cars.
I hope Tatsumi PA will be as it was. And people respect the place and the truck drivers rest stop places etc.
more of driving pov like on the end pleease, sooo relaxing
The car photographer is really smart

Man, I miss heading to this place back in the day. No more iconic skyline shots or Tatsumi launches though.

I've seen something similar here in Cape Town. Especially the Porsche
That white Zonda 🤌🏼
Are they trying to keep it open longer?
Hope so
Dino can you explain the sort of sports bike culture in japan. Awesome video
Not really my area but it’s vast as you can imagine
I kind of feel Japan has gotten way too mainstream. I hope it kind of goes back to what it was in the 90/00's where it was still more underground and mysterious.
That’s never happening, they have tours now taking tourists to popular car spots lol

Thank you for the translation into Spanish ❤
Thanks to TH-cam!
Are there many speed cameras in Tokyo or it is manually scanned by the police? How high are the fines for speeding?
Trust me you don't want to get caught. It's not just the fines, they will literally turn your life upside-down, especially if you're a foreigner!
@dino_dc speed cameras are marked on known positions?
9:17 Hey, what kinda car is this Porsche looking cart? thanks!
Tommy Kaira
The 500 biposto 🥰🥰🥰
Id fit right in if I was there ❤
So why exactly did the street racing die off? Was there a particular incident, or perhaps strict legislation introduced?
❤️🔥❤️🔥❤️🔥
The world? It’s not Peats Ridge! IYKYK
Wangan 2 hours til Midnight

AE86?
I think Ichikawa P.A. is the original speeding base.
How can I off the translated announce? It's bothering me.
Just set it to original language, it should stay in that setting after that
Song name?
What's the trio at 9:15?
Tommy Kairas
I LOVE THEM!
3:49 Well, then that's on the car nerds. Right? It was pretty empty too
Same, I'd rather be called weak over affecting people who are not involved and ruining it for ourselves because of that.
