Having had two Pembroke Corgis myself I can tell you they are wonderful companions, very loving, loyal and full of entertaining mischief. They are emotionally sensitive too, so I am sure they will go through a mourning period after the loss of their beloved Mistress.
We had a neighbor with one years ago... His name was Joey and he would come down to our place every afternoon to play with our 3 dogs(a spegal{water spaniel beagel mix} Chow Chow and a Manchester terrier mix) he was such a love... I feel for HER MAJESTIES dogs.. I'm sure they are confused as to what's happened and worried as they haven't seen the Queen for days.

The queen stopped breeding corgis a number of years ago because she was aware she was getting old and thought it wasn’t fair that an owner die and leave her dogs behind. The corgis she had when she died where given to her at the start of Covid because Andrew thought they would make her smile and help alleviate lockdown. But it was agreed at that point that when she died he and fergie would have them back to look after.

During her last documentary she said that after her last old Corgi passed away that she would not have another dog but her children decided to get more dogs as she adores them. Not forgetting Her Majesty's horses who will also surely miss her visits. She used to give them Polo mints.

I agree totally. It surprised me how strongly it affected me. I am a guy from a generation that were raised and expected to deal with the passing of loved ones with restraint and a stiff upper lip, and no I'm not of English blood but Irish and was born, grew up and live in coastal Alabama. I still felt true sadness when hearing of her passing very shortly after it happened. I had been looking at images of her on my phone in an article about the new British Prime Minister and the Queens role in ceremonies. She appeared tired and also seemed to have an enhanced air of innocence about her. I thought then she needed rest and her pups about her. God keep her safe on her journey and reunite her with her loved ones.
That comic with the corgi was so clever. I hope that when she got to the other side, all her gorgis were there to greet her along with Prince Phillip, her mother, father and sister. I imagine her living in a castle with them all.
Her spirit is around her corgis. Animals are sentient beings and also very connected to the Spiritual realm. I'm sure they can sense, even see her presence and feel her love for them too.
We have a half Corgi, half Husky, named Churro. He's incredibly intelligent, and communicates VERY effectively. He's a nasty piece of work to dogs that earn his disapproval, but he's also the most cuddly, and sucky dog I've ever known. Even though mine isn't a purebread Corgi, I can certainly see why Elizabeth II loved hers.
I took my dog, an American staffie to my moms funeral. Whenever I would visit her accompanied by Peety, she would break out a box of treats she kept for him. When she had to move to an assisted living facility the high point of my visit was where's Petey. Her neighbors and others in group activity would cease drawing or whatever and clamor for attention from Petey. He ate it up and tried to visit all gathered for a pet and a head scrusshie (rubbing, and ear scratching and holding). The activities director told me that when an older gentleman asked if he could pet Peety it was the first words she had heard out of him in seven weeks and that he had appeared to be going downhill and now asked every morning when Pete was coming. I worked for the municipal fire dept. at the time and began taking him to the station on days I had duty so I could go by the asst. living facility as soon as I was relieved. This way Pete soon got to know most of the 600 people on the Fire Dept. He affected a lot of lives. He passed 14 1/2 yrs. ago and I still tear up.
We never truly get over their passing. It's been seventeen years since I lost my beloved Gus and I still miss him. Sweet doggie, a chocolate Labrador that only lived for ten years. 😢
AmStaffies are the BEST - although everyone thinks that about their doggos, I know 😊 I wouldn’t swap my AmStaffy or my English Staffy for anything in the whole world. I’m sure your Mom and Petey are having a grand old time together up there in Heaven

So take your suppose, I KNOW, BS and blow it out your .. You know... And according to documentaries and biographies.. Her greatest joys were spending time with them, taking them for walks etc... That's not an "Hour" or less proposition when you live in castles and palaces... Just getting them from point A to point B and back again takes more than an hour and they said they were included in family gatherings and meetings with different dignitaries and members of her cabinet and advisors... Evan nipped one or two... So go AWAY and show some "Decorum" This was a GREAT LADY... and I'm sure those puppies are wondering where she is and with out knowing she's never coming back to them they will grieve just like our animals grieve a loss of their buddies and owners... We inherited a friend's Chihuahua years ago and when she finally figured out that he wasn't coming back for her .... She grieved and was depressed until she realized we were going to be her forever home and loved her too... That was 9 years ago...

No, Susan was NOT the Queen's first Corgi. Susan was given to her at age 18. "Dookie" was her first corgi as per Marion Crawford in the little Princesses. There are pictures of Elizabeth with Corgies when she was a child.

Animals reveal the human qualities in their master. They show the very human side of the queen. It was delightful to most diplomats I imagine.
I agree with talking about problems to the dog because they will never talk back and look at you differently. They will also NEVER stop loving you.
sometimes it's a mystery...when the master passed away, the dogs can feel depressed and lonely and soon they will follow their master.

@@Yoseman1 How do you know how much time per day she spent with her dogs... Do you have a timesheet she had to sign in and out of every time she spent time with them.... I Didn't think so... So take your suppose, I KNOW, BS and blow it out your .. You know... And according to documentaries and biographies.. Her greatest joys were spending time with them, taking them for walks etc... That's not an "Hour" or less proposition when you live in castles and palaces... Just getting them from point A to point B and back again takes more than an hour and they said they were included in family gatherings and meetings with different dignitaries and members of her cabinet and advisors... Evan nipped one or two...
So go AWAY and show some "Decorum" This was a GREAT LADY... and I'm sure those puppies are wondering where she is and with out knowing she's never coming back to them they will grieve just like our animals grieve a loss of their buddies and owners...
We inherited a friend's Chihuahua years ago and when she finally figured out that he wasn't coming back for her .... She grieved and was depressed until she realized we were going to be her forever home and loved her too... That was 9 years ago...

Anyone else besides me notice that Pembroke Corgis have "evolved" over time? You look at some of the older black and white photos and they almost resemble dachshunds, with a solid "brown" colour

No, Susan was NOT the Queen's first Corgi. Susan was given to her at age 18. "Dookie" was her first corgi as per Marion Crawford in the little Princesses. There are pictures of Elizabeth with Corgies when she was a child.
