String pins are for small games like Quille and maybe duckpins, they should never be used for tenpin bowling. One of the problems they didnt encounter much is the pin respotting in a completely different spot. Sometimes the 7 pin leave will come back down as a 10 pin and vice versa. Packy had one pin move off spot and the machine changed the leave, which is somewhat similar. Tangled strings is often a thing, which sometimes requires a mechanic to go do down and resolve it. This cant happen with free falling pins. Also, the string will hamper a pin in flight some and from rolling on the deck, I think those are essential qualities taken away from the game.
interesting experiences you've had there. Ive had strings in my centre for coming up to 5 years and not really had much of the issues you seem to have encountered. What i personally have noticed is there are definitely differences in the quality of string setters made by different companies.
usbc sanctioned machines do not have bugs like that, very rarely do the strings tangle to the point where someone has to go untangle them. the strings on sanctioned machines are long enough not to hamper a pin in flight. the machines in this video are not usbc sanctioned.
Love it, both of you are kind of encouraging me to get back into the sport after quite a few years absent from the lanes. Subscribed to both of your channels now!!!!!
This is the first time I saw string pins. I think they are fine as long as you think of it as a different sport. Like baseball vs softball. A lot of similarities, but significant differences.
Agreed, my opinion of em is they are solid for practice and learning ball reaction, but shouldn't be used in tournaments unless it's explicitly stated that it's a string tournament. Sort of a special case almost like a "plastic ball challenge" tourney or something.
Real bowling to string pin bowling is more like baseball to wiffle ball. It's like bowling with toy pins. I agree with @nickheisler2559 in that it is alright for practice but it should also be a lot cheaper to use these pins versus regular pins.
Difference in pin action for the better overall. Harder to split but you have to throw a good shot to strike. Minimal messengers or weird rolling pins.
TBH I’m still indifferent on string cause I haven’t bowled officially on them with my equipment (not counting recreational places). So I can’t say much on them until I exp them. But I’m still on the side of not liking them cause I’m nervous on tournaments with them but centers have their reasons for switching cause it can help them with price or other reasons
Personally, not a fan of string pin lanes. I do however understand the commercial reasons. For practice or for "fun centers" I think strings are fine, but for leauge, tournament play and professional bowling... let's hope strings don't become the norm.
They have been around for ages, you see them used in some small ball bowling games of yesteryear, they were never meant for 10 pin bowling. Often times yo see this with Quille which is a rubber round middle of short duckpin sized pins on strings. I can tell you the pro tour will never be the same if string pins take over houses. Also, string pins can get tangled and that never happens with free pins.
I hate people that complain about string pins .. sure their not ideal but if bowling centers start ending because of pin setter maintenance being too much I’d rather bowl than be a pussy
I hate how the USBC integrated string pins....yo Ryan, whem we gomna get that two hander tutorial? It can get alot of attention as there isnt many out as the sport grows in that department
The fact that Packy wrapped a 7 and it still “carried” for a strike should tell all of you never bowl at string pin centers. If you want traditional bowling to survive do not give string pins any of your money 🤷🏻♂️
For many people, that's not an option. We have one bowling center that recently converted to pin strings Other alleys with free fall pins are an hour to an hour and a half away. It's not feasible for everyone to travel that distance for rec or league play. "Traditional bowling" won't survive because we closed our only alley down in protest!
You also must've missed the first part of the video where he left the flat 7, and in this video where he has a swisher 5-6?? Come on man, no different from any other weird strike with free fall pins
Rash would be so pissed. Those kids on the other lane would drive him nuts

Who came from The house's channel?
Well I'm already subbed to both but I was at the house first lol
Me 😈 also why do I always get whooped!
You late, cuz the real knows was up with Barnzy 😤💪 I got to see him a few times in Houston 🤘, H.O.F FUTURE FOR SURE🙌
I saw Packy's vid right when it came out and I've been waiting hours for this one to come out
If string pins become a thing, we all lose.

That is true! Pins left off spot will be respotted to there original locations. I hadnt thought about that yet

The ONLY reason I'd be for strings is if the price drops drastically, I'd be happy paying 1.50 a game over 5$
Never will.
I will be done with bowling if all houses convert to strings. Huge difference in pin action.
This isn't an airport, no need to announce your departure

@jamesmooar3566 ...but isn't that part of the charm of free fall pins?
@@OldManGroucH What? This is what makes bowling fun to watch and play.
Well if the bowling centers close because they can’t afford pinsetter maintenance you won’t be bowling anyways

Are those certified string pinsetters?
No
How much different is the carry from Chris Warren's proshop Ryan?
I feel like they are fairly close. I only bowled the one time at Chris warrens
So do you know what happened to the A2s they used to have?
yoooo 🆙🆙
Huge packy fan but my boy Ryan taking this! Come to Eastgate and run it back 😂

FYI Mark Baker will be releasing a two hander tutorial shortly.
editing it now!
Not sure what Packy's channel does for video quality but it was better there.
And down goes Frazier
Would someone show the mechanizim of the string pins
The keys to success on string pins: 1. Post your shots. 2. Stay behind the line.
String pins belong in boutique amusement places with no leagues. They do NOT belong in competitive league or tournament bowling.

@@Susan-t6i4l you travel the hour to bowl or don’t bowl at all. String pins will take over bowling the more people keep rolling over and playing along

I thought packy was supposed to be on lane 4 this game?
was nice and gave him the easy lawn
what are string pins
Puppet pins. You have to make them dance!!
They are a travesty, an utter abomination, and lucky for us all... the "future of bowling". 🤮
Just guessing none of those small children are students there...
I think I saw them in my 9:30 Class.

Can a homie in the comments explain string pins to me?
is that an iQ Rruby in Packy's hand??????
No tundra fire
ball chilling in the rack on the left @ 11:09
Ryan u are your father made over!!
Y the video so bad even though ur shooting in 1080p packey video and sound was better! I can hear him lil better
I don’t care what the USBC says or thinks this is a stupid idea and they are stupid for doing it
Usbc got idea from other countries that has strings pins😢
