I would stitch and unstitch one and then ten minutes later do it again because I changed gear so much. NONE of it was any quality gear at all. My worst mistake was definitely buying a sea dragon pet from the crown shop for 12,500 crowns way back in the day because I thought it looked cool.... 🥲

Hard disagree on cheats though - as an old-school mmo head there’s way more metatext on these games than ever before and it’s completely shifted the expectations for the skill (really knowledge) floor. Whether as a matter of taste or accessibility, it bears considering how much information outside of the game it’s fair to as a community require other players to access, understand and reference. Just as you mentioned not wanting story spoilers, some feel the exact way about the battling system itself. Just checking cheats would still completely undermine the intuitive learning of experimenting with battle - it would be a spoiler. I think all mmo players need to get better at communicating preferred play-style and adapting to their present team (not meta). The solution for a battle interested player isn’t to undermine their enjoyment of the game because it makes your grind life easier. It’s to communicate their interests and goals to find a team that fits, and for players to have the flexibility for that to be possible. It’s a strategy game, not a cookbook after all.
Yeah but that's kind of a lame solution. 100 crowns a day means that you'll have to do quizzes for at LEAST 38 days to get all of Wizard City's content ALONE (since each paid area costs 750, and there are a total of 5 of them, 750x5 = 3750, 3750/100 = 37.5 days). The quizzes are too monotonous to complete daily for THAT long. It's not a solution for if you want paid Wizard101 content, it's why people buy memberships instead of doing this lol.
I really wish they could make the MOON SCHOOL SPELLS actually viable in PVE and PvP. The Moon animation for casting is so beautiful. Moon spells don't need to be just polymorphs? Maybe you can make a video about spell ideas, or Moon stuff if you feel like it.
The “secondary school” point is something I found out on my own recently at level 48 lol. To be perfectly honest, you can get away with not really tactfully choosing optimal spells up until around dragonspyre just fine. Once you’re there though, you’ll quickly find out that you no longer have the time required to use spells like stormzilla that take 5 pips and that only do like 1000 damage MAX if you have a trap and some stats for storm as a pyromancer. She mentioned the best spells to shoot for already, but seriously the three cards you should spend skill points on are: tower shield, feint, and saytr. You only really need any combination of two of those, but I chose saytr and tower shield for that sweet survivability and to support team mates in between attacks.
This should legit be the first video that comes up when anyone googles how to play wizard101 and crowns wizard101. Your absolutely right buying crown packs and items 90% of the time is not worth it. KI loves to take as much as they can from there community while giving very little back. Sadly they are a awful company who doesn't care about there consumers.
yeah but most crown shop should still be there so KI can make good money. some of us are willing to buy the mounts much later on because it makes the game fresh again.
Fun fact from a vet of 10+ years, the gold section is actually not a scam, it is just outdated. Up to 2012ish pets were offered in the bazaar and could cost up to 60-70K gold. Back then the gold cap was somewhere around 130K. People who bought gold skipped the grind. That is why the option is still there
11:55 something to note about Ferric's pet copying guide, its a tad bit outdated nowadays as we do not really advocate for using blood bats. He has stated he is going to release an updated guide but just a rule of thumb do not use a blood bat they are way too sticky.
Wow this was really informative, I’ve been on Wizard since the beginning but not a hardcore player so I made so many of these mistakes and am now trying to repair them. Thanks for all the information

Found this vid pretty late lol but it’s really good, everything you covered is essential knowledge for someone starting out in wiz. You should have maybe mentioned gardening when talking about pet training since gardening is the easiest and cheapest source for mega snacks especially if you take advantage of the double gardening member benefit.
Life wizard dabbling in storm magic was the exact mistake I made back in 2009 when I first started playing 😂. I had to buy crowns to reset my training points(this was before they ever introduced a free buyback promotion).
Excellent tips, but I have 2 more. 1. For crafting, you can get away with just having one wizard be the crafter at max craft wizard. Then craft the gear on the max craft wizard and transfer the gear over via shared bank to your other wizard that will use it. However, if you want to craft a spell, then you will have to get the wizard you want the spell on to the necessary craft level, which will most likely be legendary crafter for the Avalon spells. 2. It can be helpful to not only have your main account, but make a second account that only has one wizard on it and is just a level 1 wiz with no membership on the second account. This second account will be helpful for transferring tc's to a different character on your main account. Of course if you have a friend you trust, you can always do it that way, but if you do not know anyone personally in real life that plays the game then I recommend you make a second account solely for this purpose because lets say your farming lore master on your fire wiz but you get pigie tc, well now you can transfer that pigie tc to your life wizard where it is useful to craft the spell.
The 2 mistakes I made, the most, while playing wiz was buying packs at like level 30 (over 70k crowns worth) and until like level 60 I had a deck of >10 cards when I was mobbing...
@@SpartanGyrl08 There are a few on the internet but generally for fighting mobs you just want one of each the essentials in a fight. For me I have : A blade, a Sun spell (Strong, giant etc.) and my AOE (and maybe a reshuffle if needed). For bosses I generally do this but x2 and add feints and a heal. I started using this in celestia because it took me forever (as a life) to get my AOE and my damage high enough.
This a truly old school helpful guide. I miss this from you tube players these days. I know being a long time player. I hate seeing (current year) players videos, not being a good helpful person.
Another reason to do the crafting quests is because of the wand recipes in the arcanum. They may not have weapons cast, but they're one of the best wands that you can get that doesn't involve gambling. I don't know if there are wand in Karamelle or Lemuria, or any in the dragoon gear sets. But it still shows how important crafting is. I made the secondary school mistake and ignoring pet training myself when I started playing. But the biggest mistake I made was not only forgeting to change my gear every so often, but stupid middle school me focused on defense stats and support (mostly critical block) and not getting some of the most important spells like the elemental blades. I don't know why, but I had no idea how stacking worked, nor did I realize how useless critical block became. This mistake hurts even more for me because I'm a storm wizard (like I said, middle school me wasn't that bright), and didn't even realize that I should be focusing my stats more on damage and crit until the third dungeon of Darkmoor, which is when I finally started fixing all these errors I made for years without realizing it. Heck, even now crit has lost a decent amount of its value.
3:00 I would even say not to train tower shield. It's like the same with satyr, just buy some tcs of it. I almost wanna say the same for feint, but that's a bit different. You can stack it with tc feint to deal big damage fast. No need to use two different towers. Also I completely agree with number 6.
I personally have tower shield trained on all my wizards and have found a decent amount of use for it so I think it's more personal preference and how your wizard is built. I found universal shields quite useful especially during the second arc, less so in the third one. Technically one could argue you don't need to use training points at all and just get TC for any extra spells you want to use outside your school, but that seems like a waste of gold honestly. I do see your point about the potential for TC stacking with trained spells though. It's funny because even with training satyr, tower shield, feint, etc., on several wizards, I still have like 20 extra points just sitting around.
@@Zaepha I think if wizards aren’t bothered to do the zeke quests which honestly for me took a long time even with the cheats cause I keep bashing onto walls on the map 😂 then I’d just advise people to train for feint (which you will eventually need to play support for dragoon farming so you can’t rely on tc version) and that’s it. Only keep towers in tc in case you ever need them but honestly you can get pretty far in questing without them. Use your training points on enchants and if you’re pvping, will need to train brace which require you to train fortify first, and also the pierce enchants for pvp which you’ll need 5 training points for :) I had to go do the zeke quests cuz I wasted my points on main tower shields and feints and trying to train for pheonix to mutate for pvp which I didn’t have enough points for and had no points for pierce enchants. You also can train for green oak and mutates useful for pvp 👌 Only doing pvp cuz I reached end game content 😂

Just finished watching the video! There is still some hope of me covering a few more topics that didn’t make it to the top 10 list 😁 Awesome video, so glad you’re helping out the community ❤️
I will say that pack gear is an amazing investment for some packs (some give better than others!). Pack gear lasted me a very long time when I was at a lower level. Note that this comes with picking the right pack for your wizard! And one that'll actually drop stuff. I will say, Dragoon gear is good and all, but Darkmoor will last you just fine until level 160. For filling your deck people, I understand you. Azteca really got me rough, and getting stuck on a boss for a week because of running out of cards really made me start filling my deck. If you can't get out of the habit, my advice is to fill the deck with more of the cards you actually need straight away than ones you don't. Limit it by rows and take your time. One of the most important things to note is that you must play for what YOU WANT. If you are here for the story? Don't bother putting all your effort into making top-notch stuff. If you want top-notch stuff, go for it! This is a GREAT video with some very helpful tips, but remember that you can make it through without using all of them!
I’m so glad I could revert my training points free with member benefit day for only getting satyr, tower shield and then saving the rest of points for Sun and star school spells. And thanks for remembering, pls make a few videos about importante side quests and where to get them like a complete guide. Even the ones they give you better gear like the Celestina staff from the Stormriven hall.
I'm ashamed of how many of these mistakes I made when I first started playing 10 years ago lmao. My question is how can there STILL be clueless people now at lvl 130+. I just came back to the game after a pretty long break so I was farming for the dragoon's gear and also the Merciless gear. I do not understand how some people still have large decks (boy carrying infection in the Hall of Heroes?), using a baby pet or a pet with only may casts as a storm, oh and a death wizard wanting to be the main hitter when the rest of the team are all elemental schools with top tier stats and then gets mad because "we don't know how to support", no sorry we didn't train that juicy spirit blade, but hey at least we triple feinted (we were nice and said sure you can hit if you want, btw, we were prepared to sit there for one or two extra rounds and follow up if he didn't kill, but his reaction after we didn't blade him sounded incredible to me). Not shaming the one with a bad pets or using a large deck. If they are polite and nice and I would definitely help (or just wait a few more rounds... even if it's not the most efficient) when I encounter them. I'm just surprised how some people still haven't learned by now. Some don't have the best gear and pet but they have the brains and looked up cheats in advance/ know exactly what they're doing, awesome. But those of the last kind, I just flee once they start talking like that. Oh and now with the friendly players system, I can't tell you how many times I've been messaged by random low-level players asking me for "help on a dungeon". If I'm not doing anything immediately I don't mind going, but then what they really wanted was me to follow them all the way, even saying "port", or now, "tp" whenever they're at a new sigil, like rude? I just port away after one boss fight and remove if they don't stop asking. What makes you think I logged on to help you quest through the entire DS?
I'll defend large decks 'til the day I die. 1) Teamup sigils can be unpredictable. There is no telling whether a small deck will synergize with the rest of the team. 2) It's never too late to run out of cards. Reshuffles are slow. Fleeing/resetting is just obnoxious. 3) A deck restricted to Frenzy + Gargantuan + meta AoE is boring. If you're that unimaginative, why are you even playing? I'm not impressed when a wizard shits out a 7k Storm Lord on turn 2. I'm impressed when a wizard brings the tools to adapt when something goes wrong or when the situation calls for something other than a cookie-cutter DPS kit.
@@Princess_Ruto just have multiple decks my guy. I have a general mob deck, a general bossing deck, a support deck with some hits, and a few decks made for specific cheating bosses

I hope you do a video on the wands you can fish from Elephant Graveyard. Way too many people spend hours not knowing how to accurately boost their odds to get these awesome looking wands. And some don’t even know it exists until they see someone walk by with it.
My biggest mistake was either how long I played the game without knowing that you could cycle through your deck by deleting cards, or the amount of areas I bought with crowns, rather than getting a membership (I bought all the way up to floating lands in celestia)
For sure - I’m just hitting the most obvious big gear upgrades that apply to most schools in this video to give new players a general idea of what to expect. It’s an overview - not a true guide. I plan on at some point doing a gear guide which would be a lot more specific and extensive. It would be crazy to try to fit all that info in here.
Youre absolutely wrong on secondaries. Especially with the advent of school pips, but even before, a secondary isnt the worst thing you could do. If youre only playing PVE, the difference isnt too severe. Outside of some specific cheating bosses, KI does well to make the game somewhat balanced. Source: i secondaried storm as a balance, mastery amulet and all, and its still my main damage dealer school since balance's hits tend to be as effective as hitting them with a pool noodle, given how little you can buff balance damage

The reason why people like me always ask the cheats due to the fact that it's too much to read that the wording is complicated to understand...just state things like don't blade
@@emoimo4171 If I can't read I wouldn't be able to reply to comments like this. It's just the way the wording is very weird to me, maybe it could be dyslexic or something
To make the fights more challenging is that I avoid using treasure cards unless the fight is very tough especially when it comes to soloing. Spamming tc shields makes the game very easy and you can pull it on demand and numerous rather than hoping for deck rng for the several shields versus 20 in side deck. Same deal with heals and sanctuary. In the second arc and a little bit in the third arc, life mastery makes the game way to easy especally with some solid resistance and may cast healing pet. So I avoid life mastery in that arc unless the fight is really tough. But in the third arc soloing the enemies have peirce and solid resistance is less effective and the best gear tends to give less incoming healing so it is more important to have a pet that gives damage or critical to kill the enemies fast. Unless you want to use jade gear for the storm titan. Simply put, I spend training points eventually all the two school shields, feint, satyr, tower, sun enchants, some star spells, blades from niles, and reshuffle. If I used tc I would not need all of these shields in most boss battles.
Wow. Returned after roughly 10 years and try to find my way in Wizard101 again and stumbled over this video. What can I say. Great information. A very pleasant voice and pitch. Great Memes. Think I need to subscribe :)
I kind of wish you're able to have a 2nd school. Just because that would fun. As well use all the spells that you gain because you like it, like Cyclop or Stormzilla.
The biggest mistake I made when I first began back in 2010 was trying out EVERY school as a secondary to my death with no sense of what spells I should be getting and shouldn’t be getting. As a result I never got stuff like spirit blade or tower shield, and at the time I thought it was a great idea since I would have an attack for everything, I soon found myself in Marleybone using skeletal pirate while all other spells were rank 2 at most.
I feel like looking up the cheats take away the enjoyment from the game since you already know what is going to happen instead of going “oh wow, interesting”
Lmao my most embarrassing mistake was 12 years ago on my first wizard I saw I could learn spells in every school. Sooooo I blew through my training points learning the level one spell of every school🤦♂️🤣😂🤣😂
Lol, I considered that once but never went through with it since they gave you that one wand with all the level 1s in it XD I still do make all my accounts focus on one second school though
Lol yeah I pretty much run life as my second school for satyr on all my wizards now. Life to satyr, death to fient, ice to tower shield then the other odds and ends like star school enchants and such
I made lots of mistakes in wizard101 I remember I didn't know how to discord cards back then I justed all my cards I remember training the wrong spells using useless pets from the shopping area I remember using moon spells in mooshu at one point long story I forgot most of the mistakes I did but this is some of them since I started wiz when Azteca was the final world
This is actually so nice and despite having played this game for awhile I still learned about certain side quests that give additional training points which I didn't ever know before, Thank You :) Also do you think it is worth it to train the regular version of weakness as a good use of training points ever since they changed it to be 100% accuracy or to just stick with using tc weaknesses since it gives the extra 5% debuff?
One thing that's super frustrating is when you give someone the information about the boss and tell them all they need to know and they snap at you like "I've got time", or "Don't tell me how to play". Stuff like that is so obnoxious and makes team up so painful. It's insane how it's still really common to see players who don't know what they're doing at max level content and refuse to listen and cooperate. They need to add a reputation system where you can downvote players in team up during a dungeon so they'll show up as "uncooperative" with a red outline around their icon or something. It'll save everyone else the time and punish the bad teammates for being ignorant and hostile in boss runs.
You are so informative! Thank you for all the tips I’ve Ben playing for awhile but still find ur tips to very helpful.. have fun adventuring and thanks
Even now Number 10 is something that's helpful to remember. Cause you get a ton of gold just opening packs, and even selling reagents early on the moment you have access to all of Wizard City.
Gotta say, I've played since 2012, I stopped a year later after my account got randomly deleted while in Avalon and even today I'll still forget to make my decks smaller or simple things like that. One thing I always forget is white/black meaning when you're fighting the final boss in ww. Always a pain to get agro on you just cause you bladed instead of trapped without realizing the timer is up
I always just look first to see if the crown shop items you can get by farming bosses. Like the lvl 5 universal gears you can get from nightshade. The Heartsteel and all that good stuff.
I wish I had this video when I first started to play wiz! Such important information! When I first started playing I had no idea what I was doing. My gear was trash at level 50 I never knew to train elemental blade or any type of blade or enchant. I knew nothing about pets or farming. I had no idea about CRAFTING. Make sure you start your crafting at the beginning and also Zeke quest for training points. I finally found some friends that showed me the way now I am a seasoned player that knows so much about the game. Listen to this video if you want to play wiz. It's a very fun game you might run into some toxic players but don't let that bother you from making friends just be nice and make sure you ask a player before joining a fight. 😁 Have fun wizards and witches
I’ve been playing wizard101 for like over 7 years which is a long time, the only time if I ever get on wizard101 is if my account has membership, which basically I use from bundle cards or a payable bank card and basically am still learning a lot of wizard101’s new features and such, not easy but yeah
idk why this came up on my feed i haven't played this game in like 4 years but one thing i used to do was craft one one lvl and would send the gear to my other wizards. the other wizards cant craft cards but did make questing easier at times
best mistake i ever did is with one of the old packs, i dumped my crowns on it on a fresh character and got a staff with a dragonoid moon spell that is usable, while stats are weak the moon spell basically carried all the way to late marly when i got a better spell
When you get to a high enough level and get power pips fairly often. Other school spells are a waste of time, even with the mastery amulets. I have the master amulets for both Storm and Ice. But I don't use the Kraken or Colossus. I do however use powerful Storm and Ice treasure cards so they aren't wasted
when I was on my first day of wizard in 2014, my brother made me spend all my crowns on a transformation elixir in the crown shop and I was so pissed when I realized I needed said crowns to unlock a zone after that
i will say i never sold regents i just always had bad luck with finding them and when i do find them they get taken right in front if my eyes 🤣😑. like i am so far behind with crafting even tho i am already in dragonspyre i still have the crafting quest in mayrlybone bc i only found 9 iron scraps 🤣😭😭
#6 is a mistake that players make because they forget that the combat is a trading card game like Yu-Gi-Oh, and when you play competitive Yu-Gi-Oh, unless you can mill your cards super fast, you NEVER have more than minimum deck size. 99% of Trading Card Game players have the minimum deck size. This is because the smaller the deck size, the more likely you are able to draw the cards you need to win the duel. All of those cool spells are flashy, but they should be banned to the extra deck(treasure card deck) because duels go faster if you can attack immediately and if you have all these healing and shield spells, that's one card extra that you may draw instead of your super attack, meaning you have to discard your hand to get the spells drawn. In other words, the more cards in your deck, the slower the duel goes and eventually the more chances you will be handed a TPK. :(

Some notes:
Training points can be redeemed for free regardless of membership now
You can earn 100 crowns daily for free via trivia quizzes
And they recently reintroduced ads for even more crowns, but it seems like it’s only 4 per day. So 140 per day if you do both
Yeah but that's kind of a lame solution.

@@mattbalfe2983 nah they’re pretty goated in pvp, especially the life one; crazy value for 3 pips if you use it at the right time
The “secondary school” point is something I found out on my own recently at level 48 lol.
@@TheUltimateRare They already make tons of money on memberships alone.
Good point - If he does do an updated version I'll try to change the link over to the newer one. Pet hatching can be such a chore lol
Wow this was really informative, I’ve been on Wizard since the beginning but not a hardcore player so I made so many of these mistakes and am now trying to repair them. Thanks for all the information
I started playing this game again. I played when I was a kid more than 10 years ago but I didn't have a membership so i was stuck in the beginning. it's so nostalgic coming back. I wonder if its adults like me that are playing this game now

Do you of any guides on building your deck?
@@SpartanGyrl08 There are a few on the internet but generally for fighting mobs you just want one of each the essentials in a fight. For me I have :
A blade,
a Sun spell (Strong, giant etc.)
and my AOE
(and maybe a reshuffle if needed).

@@Zaepha valid. And you right. I just play hella aggressive on any school so thats prolly why

@@TntosionOfficial Yes! Definitely do your own video! Honestly there's so many topics to cover there's no way to do it all in one video. And thank you
I will say that pack gear is an amazing investment for some packs (some give better than others!).
Yes, this definitely needs to be it's own lengthy video topic! It's on the list :)

Ah this video reminds me of my noobness back in the day. Here I am years later and agreeing to every point you pointes out here lmaoo
My biggest mistake was either how long I played the game without knowing that you could cycle through your deck by deleting cards, or the amount of areas I bought with crowns, rather than getting a membership (I bought all the way up to floating lands in celestia)
thiss. i regret buying areas so much, even though in hindsight just getting a membership saves more and gives you more
this guide is AMAZING! I watched another recently that was much lower quality, and this one just made me happy. Thank you!
meowiarty archmage is huge for people trying to run a myth. It’s almost vital for a good play through imo

This game has changed a lot since i first played in 2009

The biggest mistake I made when I first began back in 2010 was trying out EVERY school as a secondary to my death with no sense of what spells I should be getting and shouldn’t be getting. As a result I never got stuff like spirit blade or tower shield, and at the time I thought it was a great idea since I would have an attack for everything, I soon found myself in Marleybone using skeletal pirate while all other spells were rank 2 at most.
I feel like looking up the cheats take away the enjoyment from the game since you already know what is going to happen instead of going “oh wow, interesting”

It'll save everyone else the time and punish the bad teammates for being ignorant and hostile in boss runs.
i bought the red barn farm with crowns by mistake 😩😩

The classic 999+ amber. Every time i see you gloss over it I laugh because I know there's gonna be someone out there who would be flabergasted.
Is it cropped in or is that a genuine stack
Even now Number 10 is something that's helpful to remember. Cause you get a ton of gold just opening packs, and even selling reagents early on the moment you have access to all of Wizard City.
Stay away from all the beggars who friend you in the commons that ask you to gift them packs and other random stuff from the crown shop.
Gotta say, I've played since 2012, I stopped a year later after my account got randomly deleted while in Avalon and even today I'll still forget to make my decks smaller or simple things like that. One thing I always forget is white/black meaning when you're fighting the final boss in ww. Always a pain to get agro on you just cause you bladed instead of trapped without realizing the timer is up
Well I'm quite late... but wow! This is completely accurate and presented in a kind and funny way! Amazing guide 10/10 :)

but to get to those spells in other schools it makes me learn each one before so i cant even save points?
I always just look first to see if the crown shop items you can get by farming bosses. Like the lvl 5 universal gears you can get from nightshade. The Heartsteel and all that good stuff.
I wish I had this video when I first started to play wiz! Such important information! When I first started playing I had no idea what I was doing. My gear was trash at level 50 I never knew to train elemental blade or any type of blade or enchant. I knew nothing about pets or farming. I had no idea about CRAFTING.
What a helpful vid, thank you :)
