Bridge Of Kleidonia - Konitsa | Greece [4K]
Some of the most beautiful bridges of Epirus can be found along Voidomatis and one of the most famous is the bridge of Kleidonia. The bridge of Kleidonia or Voidomatis, as it is known, is a single-arched stone bridge with a robust lengthening of its bow, located near the village of Kleidonia in the Konitsa region, on the Voidomatis river, at the exit of the ravine of Vikos.
The main springs of Voidomatis, 15 kilometers long, are located below the village of Vikos and are a tributary of Aoos. Along its route it receives other water streams that form on the slopes of Tymfi or come from the Vikos Gorge and finally contributes to Aoos near Konitsa.
The name of Voidomatis derives from the Slavic words voda (= water) and mati (= spring).
It is characterized as one of the cleanest rivers in Europe, as it does not face pollution problems. It crosses one of the most beautiful mountainous locations in Greece, which has been designated a national forest since 1973, as well as the Vikos Gorge, which is a monument of natural beauty.
